Look guys I know you guys are not Happy about the outcome of this Comp. That is fine. But I will tell everyone Excatly what i told Cj. It was Voted on by a few ark members, A few Dj's. All i did was add up the voted and create this Video. I also annouced the winners and Posted the winners on here. I understand u are upset about the voteing But others worked hard on thier Videos. So can't we just get along.

WHAT!huh?Dance videos won? is this canthan new years competition or Guild Wars best dance crew competition?I mean first place was unique but not themed but different. but rather then that the others where just dance not themed well 2nd place was ok but to much dance not themed just roller beatle thats it,if anything I would say then give the parody video top5 it was better then danceing.well anyways I was disapointed by the places and also good job on theguy playing the paino you got skills.

I'm not a big guild wars fan but I do enjoy watching videos once in a while. I think this competition was poorly executed. The rules were changed to suit the needs of certain people. On top of that 2 out the 3 winners did not even meet the conditions of the competition.

1st - Chinesse themed but not canthan new year.

2nd - was fine.

3rd - filming in the monastery does not make it canthan new year themed.

Sad, sad, competition.

I'm sorry for having to argue about this but I disagree with what you said about 1st place.

Whilst it seems to not be Canthan New Year themed, which I do understand, if you look at the very end, it says ''Just in time for the Canthan New Year!'' so it's like the story in that vid was saving the Canthan New Year, so I just have to disagree with you there!

yes Konig there are prized for honorables and everyone else. different grades of prizes for diffferent catagory's we set up. Ofc there is the main prizes, then honorables, then everyone else

while it is good to see another competition being hosted (one which i have had no intention of entering)

i don't think you should have changed the rules (multiple times), to tailor to one or two people's needs (submissions).

while it is great to make everyone happy, it is not good to just be a people pleaser to get out of a sticky situation.

rules that are set up in advance, should not be changed halfway through a contest.

guildlines are set, contestants should follow them.

well i did that. It was decided that it would better for all to extend the time for the decorations and the allotted time that you tube allows so no one can complain. But as i see there are still complainers....

But i'm not going to fight with u for Everyone is allowed to enter as long as it went the theme. it's supposed to be fun and u are making it diffucult and making others not enjoy this as it should be. Personally, I thank you for extending the time limit, but I think there should have been a minimum.

I have never understood the purpose of a maximum to things like these, because sometimes longer does lead to better - as making the limit too short means that some people will have to cut out some things, like I would of had to do.

#1 every vid maker should hav their right to enter just for fun

#2just because the bids dont hav a good theme to the compitetion standards..doesnt mean they aren't good vids it only means that we just tried and derserve some credit at least

#3 im trying to understand wat konig is saying..

cause it seems to me, to him "Only" CNY themes must only hav a chance of winning but w/e everyone has their opinion

Hey Alyssa sorry to hear you are getting angry messages :( that's not very sportsmanlike, you should be commended for submitting and criticism should be kept tactful by just simply not voting a disliked submission to place.

I kinda disagree, you have to be able to take the negative criticism along with the positive. How else can we improve?

However, it should be kept tactful. It's sucks that it hurt someone so bad it caused them to withdraw but in the end it was the creator's decision and I don't think someone should get scolded for posting their opinion (as long as it was tactful).

Anyways, I really do hope that the non-CNY themed videos do not get a chance of winning, due to fairness for those who went and put the requirements into their videos. I don't see why someone who didn't bother reading/following rules should get a prize. But that is me, and it's ARK's decision.

I think if ARK posted the standards of what the challenge was for the video then surely they will uphold them to run a fair contest. They were posted at the beginning; just because people didn't succeed in the challenge I don't think ARK wants to be ungracious and deny them the opportunity to at least submit ;)

These people, who are not experts, are trying to do what the experts are doing.

If you ask me these people have a shitload of courage. It's no easy thing to make a movie for ALL THE WORLD to see. These movies are open to the whole world. How many of us can say they are ready to face that kind of pressure?

I'LL GIVE 5 STARS TO ANYONE WHO HAS THE GUTS TO ENTER THIS COMPETITION.

This is the time to go on an adventure. Make a movie.

Seeing how we are all anonymous if we choose, there is not a lot of pressure. If someone gets tons of hate comments and bad ratings, they can stop uploading on that account, make a new one, and start uploading under a different name.

And if someone can post a 50 second video, with 30 minus of unedited dancing, obviously it doesn't take a lot of courage - or it just took stupidity.

I agree with Konig, most of these videos aren't really bad videos, but some of them really don't fit the required theme of CNY. But, they are great videos so, I have to give them some credit for that. I've been rating all the videos very fairly, watching them multiple times to examine the fine details, transitions, and effects.

To sum it up, really good videos, just some aren't fitting the requirements we want.

You shouldn't give bad videos 5 stars. People may get angry, but if it is the truth and if it is constructive criticism (i.e., more than "this sucks") then they have no reason to get update and it is their fault.

But this isn't the place for that.

Anyways, Half way done with my video - but I will say people seem to expect more than they shall get. People have left high anticipation sounding responses on my two test previews, but meh.

Just a note: Reason why my video is taking long is because of the need for decorations and lack of time except for when I should be sleeping, like now :D. So yeah, don't expect something too fancy like Pantsma's. >_> *selling myself short again I bet*

Of the videos in so far, there seems to be a lack of Canthan, let alone CNY, themes - but good videos none the less. No comedies, that's good. ^_^

In the past I would give my opinion on what I thought of peoples' guild wars movies but most people would get angry so now I only give 5 stars unless someone asks me to be more specific.

People have tried to say that you are being unfair about your judging and such, yet you have told me that if one of your GUILDIES enter, that you will NOT be judging. I also heard that you are doing a public judging. Which means everyone can vote on what video they think is the best...Is all of this correct? This is the way I understand it and I simply wanted to post it so others also know. Thanks ^_^

Her video is called "Stop Motion (virtual) 6000+ Screenshots from Guild Wars". Not something to miss if you love a good canthan new year guild wars movie. Actually the reason i did this in January for the Chinese new Year is on the 26th Of January. And i Figured Arena Net would do it on that weekend as it has in the past. But i am wrong it's going to be extended just waiting until they release the info on when the new year is in Game. as for the time thing. It was a missaying on the sound bite ti's acutally 6 mins But that may also be changed depends on what the Judgeing Panel of mY guild says. which i will find out on Thurday.

Hmmm, while I do need money, I don't think I'll even bother with a video for the following reasons:

-I need to farm like crazy for Dust, Wood, and Parchment to make rockets (need 15k points of the three titles before April, I hope to knock out Party Animal with the Canthan New Year)

-I will be doing Dragon Arena once the Canthan New Year hits.

-I know I won't win. Windows Movie Maker pretty much prevents that. :)
