To young Hollywood.....look at THESE names and learn!!
Burt Lancaster
Henry Fonda
Paul Newman
Dudley Moore
Warren Beatty
Four of these outstanding actors are dead and they STILL have more talent than most of the so-called actors of today who only care about the perks of show business without caring about the craft itself.
This ceremony honored the year 1981 and took place winter '82. Katharine Hepburn won Best Actress, Maureen Stapleton won Best Supporting for Reds, and Sir John Gielgud won Best Supporting Actor for Arthur.
ese fue una gran oportunidad de que Jane y Henry reestablecieran su relacion de padre e hija y ya que el ha fallecido en ese momento, ya que era el ganador, eso la mantuvo mas orgullosa.
Jane had some big hair there. On Golden Pond is a fantastic movie. Does anyone her know where I can get the scene in Coming Home where the solders are shooting on the sand bags? One of my brothers was an extra in that there.
Wow, what a list of nominees: Beatty, Fonda, Lancaster, Newman, and the the very funny Dudley Moore. This is the kind of calibre we lack in recent oscars.
Jane Fonda said that this was the happiest moment of her life. She said she was praying obsessedly for her father to win which he did. She actually bought the rights of this movie so that her father can win an Oscar. She writes it down beautifully in her book My Life So Far.
Classy and moving. He should have also won back in 1940 for Grapes of Wrath, his Tom Joad was a character of tremendous depth and humanity. Henry Fonda died a few months after this Oscar win, as did Geraldine Page after finally winning Best Actress (on her 8th nomination) in 1986.
Henry Fonda should have won the Best Actor Oscar for 1940's "Grapes of Wrath". He was the least deserving in his category this year, as was Katharine Hepburn, for "On Golden Pond". Their performances in this very sentimental movie were hardly a stretch for their talents. Burt Lancaster and Susan Sarandon should have been awarded for "Atlantic City".
all this oscars are bs the only reason henry fonda won it was because he was dead .henry fonda was or is one the best actors you will ever see he is better than alot of them idiots that have won it and dont deserve it. you can see it janet face where she is f@ck you'll oscars. another example of a good actor with out an oscars is mickey rourke.
Mr Fonda wasn't dead when he received the Award. If you knew what you were talking about, you would have known that. As for your Janet Face, whoever the hell that is, or Mickey Rourke, they are actors. Mr Fonda and people like him were stars. performers that the vast, vast majority of todays actors will never achieve.
I remember watching On Golden Pond as a kid and thinking it was boring, then I watched it as an adult and thought it was hilarious and touching. Fonda's performance was so genuine. Well deserved!
@krembert100 The reason is that, unlike most people who accept the award on behalf of another person, she accepted the Oscar for her father, so she knew whom he wanted to thank, and she hardly even mentioned herself though she really had a lot to do with the movie.
No offense to Dudley Moore...but out of all those 5, he got the largest applause?

Why does Sissy only mentions the actor's name and not the movie for which they are nominated? It sounds really weird and incomplete.

Jane Fonda really looked like Henry Fonda when he was in the Grapes of Wrath...

The great Kate Hepburn gave Mr. Fonda Spencer Tracy's hat at the beginning of the filming, and the stoic and reserved Henry Fonda cried like a baby.
