  • No offense to Dudley Moore...but out of all those 5, he got the largest applause?

  • To young Hollywood.....look at THESE names and learn!!

    Burt Lancaster

    Henry Fonda

    Paul Newman

    Dudley Moore

    Warren Beatty

Four of these outstanding actors are dead and they STILL have more talent than most of the so-called actors of today who only care about the perks of show business without caring about the craft itself.

  • Why does Sissy only mentions the actor's name and not the movie for which they are nominated? It sounds really weird and incomplete.

  • I love me some Jane, but HONEY THAT HAIR. Oh no no no!

  • This ceremony honored the year 1981 and took place winter '82. Katharine Hepburn won Best Actress, Maureen Stapleton won Best Supporting for Reds, and Sir John Gielgud won Best Supporting Actor for Arthur.

  • It was 1981

  • ese fue una gran oportunidad de que Jane y Henry reestablecieran su relacion de padre e hija y ya que el ha fallecido en ese momento, ya que era el ganador, eso la mantuvo mas orgullosa.

  • the only reason Henry Fonda won because he was HENRY FONDA a legend in his own right

  • Jane fonda is a wonderful person inside and outside

  • Lancaster--so handsome that night!!

  • i like jane fonda as much as most people like tokyo rose ,they both should have gone to jail not just one of them

  • She is so genuine and proud here.

  • Sissy Spacek and Jane Fonda are my absolute two favorites!!!!

  • It was nice that Fonda won but the best performance that year was by Lancaster, hands down.

  • Jane had some big hair there. On Golden Pond is a fantastic movie. Does anyone her know where I can get the scene in Coming Home where the solders are shooting on the sand bags? One of my brothers was an extra in that there.

  • Wow. What a group of nominees. And so happy Fonda won. At last.

  • Spacek is so hot!

  • Wow, what a list of nominees: Beatty, Fonda, Lancaster, Newman, and the the very funny Dudley Moore. This is the kind of calibre we lack in recent oscars.

  • at 3:43 wrap it up, wrap it up, wrap it up

  • Jane Fonda said that this was the happiest moment of her life. She said she was praying obsessedly for her father to win which he did. She actually bought the rights of this movie so that her father can win an Oscar. She writes it down beautifully in her book My Life So Far.

  • Classy and moving. He should have also won back in 1940 for Grapes of Wrath, his Tom Joad was a character of tremendous depth and humanity. Henry Fonda died a few months after this Oscar win, as did Geraldine Page after finally winning Best Actress (on her 8th nomination) in 1986.

  • Henry Fonda should have won the Best Actor Oscar for 1940's "Grapes of Wrath". He was the least deserving in his category this year, as was Katharine Hepburn, for "On Golden Pond". Their performances in this very sentimental movie were hardly a stretch for their talents. Burt Lancaster and Susan Sarandon should have been awarded for "Atlantic City".

  • all this oscars are bs the only reason henry fonda won it was because he was dead .henry fonda was or is one the best actors you will ever see he is better than alot of them idiots that have won it and dont deserve it. you can see it janet face where she is f@ck you'll oscars. another example of a good actor with out an oscars is mickey rourke.

  • @pedro13181318

Mr Fonda wasn't dead when he received the Award. If you knew what you were talking about, you would have known that. As for your Janet Face, whoever the hell that is, or Mickey Rourke, they are actors. Mr Fonda and people like him were stars. performers that the vast, vast majority of todays actors will never achieve.

Good luck in your history lessons.

  • Jane Fonda really looked like Henry Fonda when he was in the Grapes of Wrath...

  • The great Kate Hepburn gave Mr. Fonda Spencer Tracy's hat at the beginning of the filming, and the stoic and reserved Henry Fonda cried like a baby.

  • You don't get that long for a speech these days.

  • Back in the day when the Oscars were for the award and acceptance speeches and not about getting to the commercial break as fast as possible.

  • This was Jane Fonda at her classiest.

  • I remember watching On Golden Pond as a kid and thinking it was boring, then I watched it as an adult and thought it was hilarious and touching. Fonda's performance was so genuine. Well deserved!

  • It's so nice that his competitive oscar came one year after his honorary one

  • Jane Fonda is giving a speech as if she won the ocsar not her father.

  • @krembert100 The reason is that, unlike most people who accept the award on behalf of another person, she accepted the Oscar for her father, so she knew whom he wanted to thank, and she hardly even mentioned herself though she really had a lot to do with the movie.

  • Jane Fonda has the same haircut as Mel Gibson in Braveheart

  • Lovely speach.

  • I wonder who designed Jane's dress. It looks like old-school Armani.

  • Henry Fonda, Jane Fonda, Peter Fonda and Bridget Fonda, wow, they're all big

  • my lord her hair is huge!

  • @sanjac07 Those were the days!

  • love her dress

  • Oh jane. You are my light.

  • Sissy Spacek looks exactly the same.

  • Jane Fonda look better now!!!! The years don't seem past for her

  • wow! That hair sums up the 1980s!

  • @MrMacs87 So right.

  • Do you have Jane's "Coming Home" win?

  • henry fonda is the only right winner!

i love henry and love golden pond....... :-D

  • A well-deserved win and a wonderful acceptance by Jane Fonda. Can you please post Jane's second win for Coming Home? Please?????????

  • on golden Hair

  • dudley moore ever!

  • jane <3

  • HER HAIR.

  • 1. Wow, Warren Beatty is the only one of that year's nominees who's still alive.

    2. Wow, Jane Fonda: talk about big 1980's hair!

  • His last movie and one of his greatest performances. So happy for him that he finally won one.

  • Burt Lancaster so should have won this one.

  • @zim83 as much as I love this moment as Henry Fonda's long awaited achievement, I would say that I strongly agree with you.

  • how a big hairstyle
