  • Athlete: A person who is trained or skilled in exercises, sports or games requiring physical strength, agility, or stamina. Especially when performed in a competitive context. from the greek athlein: to contend and athlon: prize

Sport: all forms of physical activity which, through casual or organised participation, aim to use, maintain or improve physical fitness and provide entertainment to participants.... that should clear it all up eh!?

  • Why is there no replay button ??

  • dancing is a sport!

what do you mean it's not?

its just like football..or something like that!

some people live and breathe for dancing!:)

  • girl got skills but dancing is not a sport

  • @2Good2BeTrue45 it is athletic. fishing is a sport, but not athletic; the words are neither mutually exclusive nor interchangeable

  • Being an athlete and playing a sport are completly different things. This video isn't try to prove dancing a sport. It's trying to prove dancers can be athletes. Just sayin.

  • Props to all the bgirls out there.

  • Anything that requires you to get up off your ass and commit to be good at it, should be considered a sport.

  • cheering for a sport will never be a sport(:

  • @albertVV1 That isn't what cheerleading is... If you knew anything about it, you'd see that isn't what it is. I agree, the cheering for a sport part of cheerleading, is not a sport but the intense hours of practice, the hours of conditioning on your own, the stuff you don't see, yeah that is a sport. And we don't put in hours and hours to preform at games, just so you know. So give me a good reason why cheerleading isn't a sport, I guarantee I'll have an argument for it!

  • @delaneycheer well okay my girlfriend is a cheerleader and yes i see all that work but also see the refs in fifa or in nfl the have to work out and have a conditioning work out too, and still thats not a sport in high school you cant have practice of any sport during the summer and yet cheerleaders do. being on the sideline of a game is not a sport the crowds in the games cheer and yet its not a sport .cheerleading is not in the olympics or nothing like that .

  • @albertVV1 im a varsity basketball player in my high school and we have a SPORT BANQUET and cheerleading nor dancing its in that banquet. i respect that its hard, my girl friend its gonna get a scholarship to cheer for a college and yea its hard but coming out in the half times of a sport would never ever be a sport

  • @albertVV1 I agree coming out at half time and cheering on another team is not a sport. But.. that isn't what competitive cheering is. What you think cheerleading is is a misconception. Some schools only have that kind of cheerleading, and i do not think that is a sport but competitive cheerleading is a completley diffrent thing!

  • ill be your fan :)

  • Dancing isn't a sport. It is dancing. Just because it's hard doesn't mean its a sport. Hitting yourself over the heard with a hammer hurts. I wouldn't call it a sport though.

  • Dancing may or may not be a sport, but she is definitely an athlete :)

  • Dancing is not a sport it is an art. That doesn't mean it isn't hard and it does't belittle it. Just because something is difficult doesn't mean it is a sport. Working construction can be grueling and challenging, but I doubt you would call them athletes.

Dancing and cheerleading are in the same boat. Are they physically challenging? Yes, much more than say golf. However, they are't inherently competitive. People have had to think up ways to make them competitive, thus they aren't sports.

  • @gmcrew2 Like many bboys like to say:

100 percent sport and 100 percent dance.

  • That chick is INSANE, I'm in "sports" but I've always wanted to dance, so props to her!

  • If dancing is a sport, than so is Poker, Calvin Ball, hide and seek, and jump rope.

  • 3 people work for reebok

  • I think dancing is MORE than just a sport. It takes your heart and soul to brings out movements that truly touch people lives. It's not only physical, but also takes equal amount of mentality.

  • I was dancing as a kid... and it helped me in several other sports to become better... dancers are IMHO some of the best trained and strongest athletes in the world!!!! Anyone who says it's not a sport... has no idea about the training and about dancing!!!

  • Athletecism: Fit. able to withstand grueling activities. It doesnt matter what it is, almost anything can be classed as an athlete. Athletics arent just sprints and long jumps and high jumps etc. its a lot of things. Dancers ARE athletes and anyone who dis-agrees is naiive

  • Oh man all the things I would've done to her body ....aaahhhh

  • Athlete: A person possessing the natural or acquired traits, such as strength, agility, and endurance, that are necessary for physical exercise or sports, especially those performed in competitive contexts.

Yes, dancers are athletes. Maybe not a sport for those who don't participate in competitions but thats not the argument, they are definitely athletes.

  • Dancers are absolutely athletes! I don't dance and even I can see that. You don't have to look good to throw a football or hit a baseball. I'm a horseback rider and we get the same shit all the time.

  • Why can't people be respectful?? Dance is a sport...but if you disagree try doing 11 fuete turns in a row and dance all day! It is a sport and a hobby depending on the person and people who don't dance and comment on here saying it's not a sport you are DESTROYING little girls dreams around the world!

  • That floor side into a handstand/ backflip was nice!

  • track and field and cross country runners get this shit all the time. Total bullshit, it takes more pain and endurance to get through a 5 mile race than it does to play a football game.

  • how did this slampiece get out of the kitchen? Bitch your not an athlete now go make me a sandwich!

  • @gounc93 uhm...i really hope you were joking. if not...then get back in the doghouse. hey, if women "belong in the kitchen" exactly where do you think the men should be?

  • @trackgril175 YOUR BED

  • great dancer !!! who is she ?

  • If golf and cricket are recognised sports, then why the hell isn't dancing. Its much more physical, requires stamina and confidence. Plus it awesome to watch!

  • LOVE this!

  • YEEESSSS!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • damn straight, and well said!

  • I think we have to realize that dance is MORE than a silly sport. I have danced 19 of my 24 years, have a college degree in dance, and now teach and coach. It is the most ancient and beautiful of the arts, labeling dance as a sport would be an insult. We are, however, athletes; in every sense of the word.

  • If CHESS is a SPORT(which it is - no-one can deny that!! It's a recognized sport by the International Olympic Committee!), then DANCE can be a SPORT, just as CHEERLEADING should be a SPORT!! If CHESS PLAYERS are considered ATHLETES, then DANCERS and CHEERLEADERS should be considered ATHLETES, TOO!!!

    'Nuff said.. Peace!!

  • @ezgmusic11 technically, chess ain't a sport, a sport is something that you put effort in, using your body, you train for it everyday, to become good at it, chess? Google chess moves and you're done, you're already good at it

  • @Sn1pest3r I think it's more then that...

  • this is great---who is she? respect to all dancers.

  • I don't think dancing is a sport it's artistic and expressive to the point where it would be awkward to call it a sport but definately dancers are athletes. P.S whats the point with arguing with someone on youtube if we live in a world were people have different opinons?

  • I agree that dancers are athletes; one of the most amazing ones at that. People who don't deserve the title athletes are bowlers, golfers, darts, and so on. Where people carry your equipment for you across a massive field and the only time you get wet is when it rains, because the caddy was late in getting you your umbrella. Or the only reason why you sweat is that you weigh 350 lbs. and it's a struggle to walk a few feet with a 25 lb. ball. Athletes are the ones that sweat for perfection.

  • ill be in your fan club!

  • ..... she says she didnt get a sign up..... yet... she is making an add for nike..... one of the biggest...... no the biggest footwear company...... hrrrm... spoilt bitch

  • @BridgeBender323 it's a COMMERCIAL. she didn't produce it, conceptualize it, or write the script for it. hell, it's not even her voice, it's a voice over talent's. idiot.

  • This video is an excellent portrayal of the female athlete. Women have so much talent that goes unnoticed by the media. YOU GO GIRLS!!!

  • This commercial's great! dance is an amazing combination of athleticism and artistic expression! Plus Sofia is absolutely fantastic in this commercial

  • Comment removed

  • i do ballet and i hate it when people say that ballerinas arent athletes, ballet takes alot of strength, pain endurance, stamina and most of all balance, just like any type of dancing.

  • @xXSmoothxCriminalXx I'm a very fit football jock, and I couldn't keep up with the dancers at the gym haha :P I was vomitting halfway through the training.

  • @MicrowavedHamster hahahhahaha XD yeah, people really do underestimate dancers :P glad you tried though :3

  • @xXSmoothxCriminalXx ballet is for small tits and tight vaginas

  • @xXSmoothxCriminalXx try running a 5k and lets see if u have real endurance

  • @xXSmoothxCriminalXx are you bent?

  • @xXSmoothxCriminalXx I used to get angry to...but then i understood, we are NOT athletes, we are ballet dancers, we are artists, yes we train as hard as athletes, but I would hate being compared to a football player...I do like people to understand ballet dancers are as strong as many athletes, sometimes even stronger, but i like being called an artist more than an athlete.

  • Awesome moves.

  • i agree. i was in dance for 13 yrs and ppl say dance isnt a sport? fuck that. you work damn hard to become good like that.

every movement and sound has to come from your heart, so if u say dance isnt a sport you need you youtube "dancers" and see how some of them move. :)

  • @PDancer009 Maybe dancers and ballerinas are athletes, yeah why not? They need a awesome physical condition, entrain every day, etc. But, I think dance isnt a sport, because sport implies competition, someone win and someone lose. Dance is funny, even can be a kind of art, but I have never heard about someone compete to dance higher or faster

  • @superdtd69 HAHA omg are u kidding?? i competed in dance for 13 yrs.. yes tropheys awards and everything... so this isnt a sport? ru fucking stupid? idc if u dont think its a sport. but uhm football players take dance to help build muscle and they become faster on their feet. so obviously u should do some more research about Dance. cause dancers COMPETE! dumbass

  • @PDancer009 really? ah, yeah, I know what are you talking about, once I competed in a speed eating competition (in the category of hamburguers) and guess what! I win a medal for that!! You know? this contests are regulated by the International Federation of Competitive Eating!! So, according to your answer, eat hamburguers is a sport! I´m the dumbass, sure...

  • @PDancer009 Ok, mean business, the dance competitions are based on subjective criteria, winner is the one who is most beautiful dances, according to the jury. Winner is not who more trains, but who dance better according to the subjective idea of a pretty dance. I have a question, in your dance competitions, who would win? Michael Jackson, Fred Astaire or Svetlena Zakharova?? I´ll tell you: depends on the jury criteria. I will not discuss, just let me know when the dance becomes an Olympic sport

  • @superdtd69 dude do you really not have a life? to sit here and just bitch about how u think ur opinion is right? lol and uhm learn how to talk dude, are you not from America cuz your english is terrible, seriously go get an education.!

  • @PDancer009 dance isn't a sport , it is a hobby and a bad one

  • @colo250 Really? ur just like mr. superdtd69 up there. get a life and stop trying to start drama on youtube dumbass. its called an opinion.. i AM a dancer.. therefore its MY sport. i dont think alot of sports should be considered "sports" but am i commenting on youtube videos trying to look like a dumbass? no.

so stop replying to my post.

    thanks.

  • @PDancer009 haha i have a life , a sports life... i know its an opinion i also have mine so why u getting mad?? do they have a dance league?? do 100,000 people gather out to watch little spoiled girls jump around. dancing its cute and whatever but don't say its sports because it isn't

  • @colo250 im not getting mad. more annoyed, we all know this debate wont ever go away so why keep talking about it? and yeah actually ALOT of people gather to watch dance... its kinda called a dance competition. duh. and spoiled? how are dancers spoiled? that makes no sense at all actually. and we dont "jump around" maybe ur thinking of gymnastics.?? i think so.

and ok if u dont think its a sport... so be it. alot of people will beg to differ.. including me.

  • @PDancer009 yes their spoiled, there 2 girly to do a real sports so they go ahead and smile and throw a couple a kicks. its late why aren't u in bed?? u have to sleep alot so you can go ahead and do a real workout dancing lol, and btw it takes a real sport do do it with your nails and hair donde right??

  • @colo250 your really making me laugh right now hahaha have u even researched dance??? seriously. first of all dancing isnt about "kicking." second of all you cant have ur "nails done"

and why arent i in bed? are u stupid? im a college student ?? im not in dance anymore dumbass, im still considered a dancer but i am no longer in dance. so why dont u do ur little sports instead of staying up late and not having a life other then youtube drama. sound like a plan?good.

  • @PDancer009 haha why u leave dance?? u could have really made a living out of it lol... im sorry i thought u had a bed time because really you sound really immature. make a survey in your community college wether dance is a spor or not and bring me back the results lol

  • @colo250 i left dance because when u graduate, ur done with studio dance. yes i can be in college dance teams but i have bigger things to worry about. im immature? hahaha! wow look whose talking. ur sitting here.. fighting with someone over an opinion. grow up seriously. and im sure if i was a douche bag and took the time to do a survey on if college kids thing dance is a sport, alot of people would say yes.

  • @PDancer009 seriosly how old are u? i commented on what i thought of dancing and u are the one getting all stupid and angry because of this shit. if you think moving around and shaking your head is a "sport" then so be it, you don't have to prove anything to anyone, seems like u are an insecure person. shut up and be the grown up

  • @colo250 seriously how old are you?? to sit on youtube and cause drama. seriously get a life.. ur pathetic. and no actually im not insecure and yeah i should be the grown up? haha u grow up a little bit then come talk to me.

  • @colo250 lol u are the geting agitated because u know the truth u insecure bitch... why can't u leave it alone thats my opinion and the majority of the people's opinion, I recommend the book "The Secret" for u to get rif of all your insecurities

  • @PDancer009 hahaha people call darts and pool sports, next time someone tells you dancing isnt a sport you tell them to fuck off!!! keep doing your thing

  • @PDancer009 a sport has a scheduale of events that you do against another dance isnt like that.

  • @BulldogManiaTV Have you ever heard of dance competitions? it has a *schedule of events that you do to compete with each other.

  • @PDancer009 it's not really a sport because sport is competition with an objective outcome....

  • @oJKBo sometimes

  • to be able to dance like that takes years of training and body conditioning so to not be considered an athlete is damn insulting! lol!

  • Can I honestly tell you that you're not an athlete ?

    Let's see....

    "You're not an athlete."

    Huh. I guess I can !

  • you can say she is not, but you can't honestly tell me that you work harder than that girl to do half the things she did. so my advise to you is to go look up the true meaning of athlete.

  • nike is trash

  • Nike sponsers my schools sports program therefore i must disagree with you. they really do care about the sports and education.

  • atleta è chi suda in una pista di atletica o in qualsiasi altro campo da gioco e della vita cercando di capire che l'unico nemico è solo se stesso questa è danza.

  • honestly I can't say she's not an athlete....=D

  • wow i wish i had moves like that .

  • do not tell this female she is not an athlete!!

  • umm i have to agree with cmamfgf. that crap takes alot of training your toes hurt you get soars all over your feet. dancing is a sport. saying that it is not is like saying that gymnastict is not a sport. all of those girls get graded on dance rutiens. they work harder than most athlets and they have more dedication because dance comes from the heart. if i had better knees i would dance. but i play soccer. if she aint an athlet than i dont know what is

  • you think sports and competition don't come from the heart?

  • i do think that it does come from the heart, but i was talking about the exprestion of dance. it showes what is really in your heart. you can play sports for years and never have any of it come from your heart. you have to drive and a special love for it to be able to dance like that.

  • imma have to agree with clumsygirl09....

how cany'all sit here and say this girl aint no athlete.. then tell me someone like tiger woods is. C'mon g. Respect to Tiger but y'all need to start showin some to the dancers

  • you are so right and the fact is dance programs are apart of school athletice departments so if the arn't athletes why are the put in the same group? am i right or what?

  • word.

  • Wicked good!

  • that was awesome n i would b in ur fan club but i also think that u r not an atlethete

  • definition of athlete: a person trained to compete in sports or exercises.

    Now answer three questions,

did she train to do that?

    isn't dancing a sport?

    is she not an athlete?

  • Rock it b-girl!

  • shes not an athlete, she is an ARTIST!!

  • lol

  • now THATS DANCE

  • OMFG TOO NICE------ Please, I want to see that Ad in HD!!!!

  • wicked promo!

  • She's Sofia Boutella. She's from Algeria and she's worked with loads of big stars e.g. Madonna and Jamiroquai.

  • who is she?

  • that was awesome who was that?

  • hell then I'm her first fan and I'll start the damn fan club. Not being sexist but that chick is hot.

  • LOL! I hear ya

  • heh heh no

Guys are so immature it's ridiculous

  • I see immaturity is found in both sexes....
