  • I can' t remember who said that all love is unrequited, but it fits.

  • @blueindigo1000 Delenn said that to Lennier after Marcus died ....they were talking about why Marcus did what he did .....

  • As much as I understand why Lennier falling in love with Delenn, I don't think it was a healthy love, and not just because it was unrequited. He idolized her far too much and was too willing to give up everything to be what she needed, or what she thought he needed. Sheridan loved her and respected her greatly, but he didn't revere her. He treated her an equal, was willing to argue/discuss things with her, and did not view her as perfect or infallible.

  • I always felt bad for the character of Lennier. One moment of weakness among all his good and selfless acts. It was a shame he could not find someone who would have loved him the way he wanted Delenn to love him. I mean, I know the show was not a soap opera where all the characters get paired off, and I appreciated the realism of JMS not giving all the characters happy endings, but still ... poor Lennier ... *sniff*

  • what so he kills john, but he is in the movie. and he dies of old age. I don't remember this...

  • I love this video and the song is absolutely gorgeous and fits so well. Every time I watch this video I get a new and different meaning from it, too. One that keeps recurring though is I wonder if you mean this only as Lennier reflecting in his moment of weakness when he leaves John to die, or if this is simultaneously demonstrating Delenn's thoughts on that same moment, and maybe what she did to bring it about. The scenes you've used from the Dreaming make me think that. Just curious. Thumbs up

  • Lennier just left him to die there because he feel asleep during dinner didn't he?

  • thats....so nice video!Love it...

  • You make such great use of Lennier's different expressions... Gorgeous editing, a truly lovely vid. It drew tears to my eyes.

  • great way to end it too BTW. "I guess..."

  • it really is sad that we did not get more from Lennier than him being obsessed. Too bad that love can not be the only thing that keeps you going. It seemed like that was what he was always living for, even in the beginning of the series. That's just not enough. You are right, in that even if they had gotten together, they would have not worked out in the long term. (and the damn love triangle was the actors idea! not Michael's)

  • Great vid. Thanks, mate.

  • I like it! Thanks for the vid!

  • Egads, that song is perfect. I do believe this is my favorite Lennier vid out there. The song is quite fitting and you picked great scenes and fit them together so nicely. Lennier was my favorite since the beginning of the series. While I was quite sad about his ending (and the fact that you never find out what happens to him afterwards) I agree it was dramatic and from a psychological standpoint, I'm surprised it didn't happen sooner.

  • Me too, you'd think he'd have snapped earlier. But then again there's also the tragedy that he would easily have outlived Sheridan and really all he needed to do was wait...

Thanks for commenting by the way!

  • But at the same point, it probably wouldn't be the healthiest thing for him to have ended up in a relationship with her. Remember all the individual things he did season 1? The motorcycle, mad love for history, that incident with Londo...none of it happens after season 2 (I get the impression he fell in love with her some time during when he cared for her while she was in the chrysalis) and he quite willingly gives up his identity to be her aide ("why do you believe that?" "because she does")

  • and that's not the healthiest behavior, right? I mean, I understand it is part of their culture, but it's still not healthy because he does absolutely everything for her even at the sake of his own mental health (I think he would have been a much happier

  • First off I stupidly managed to delete you're final comment when I meant to hit reply and I have no idea how to get it back! Secondly lol for long replies they're the best! I agree that he wouldn't have been happy with Delenn, he was too obsessed, it was dangerous (as proved by his actions I guess...).

  • In his defence though, as I found out when making this video, there are a lot of moments in the series when Delenn shows him far more affection than she should, especially after she realises how he feels. I think it maybe gave him false hope even after she met Sheridan and it all added up to the tragic end. Again, sorry about deleting that last comment! And out of interest, do you know any good active B5 fansites at the moment?

  • Oh definitely, part of it was Delenn's fault. She definitely showed him too much affection at times and expressed that freely in front of others. After Confessions and Lamentations, I'm pretty sure Lennier deluded himself into agreeing with that other guy whose name eludes me at the moment into believing that Delenn is marrying Sheridan as war reparations. Delenn said "oh you don't believe that" and he said "of course not" but you can tell by his voice that he's already convinced himself that

  • it's true. She also never outright made sure he knew there was never going to be anything between them, and that allowed himself the continuing hope that there would be someday. Added onto that how many times she relied on him with something incredibly important (the chrysalis, the Dreaming, when she went to do the starfire wheel) that of course he knows he's an important aspect of her life and therefore keeps on hoping. It's really tragic, because I'm sure things could have been different if

  • she gave indications that it wouldn't have worked earlier and made it clear what their respective positions were. I've heard some people suggest that she had similar feelings for Dukhat, but I don't think so myself. I think another part of Lennier's actions in that incident was post-war subconscious of the religious caste who lost family in the Black Star. Since he did too, he was probably brought up in an environment where people were almost encouraged to have negative thoughts an feelings

  • feelings towards Sheridan. Imagine that, and then having to see him every day of your life and then add Delenn into everything...it's a small wonder he lasted that long.

I think I find the fact that he seemed to give up his identity for her as the most tragic thing of all. In season one he was so innocent, enthusiastic, and individual, and it makes me so sad when I don't see those bits of individuality (like his OMG history! thing) showing through in the later seasons.

    Okay, I'll shut up now..
