How do you use the minimap in this game?

You just watch it, don't you? Make sure no enemies get a clear line of sight towards you for too long, try to sneak into their flanks. Keep using T-UGS to spot them, or look for them on the minimap when they fire their weapons (that's when they will appear).

Also equip a suppressor to avoid showing up on their minimaps when you shoot.

i've played CoD for 6 years and i love BF3. Only thing i have to complain about this game is the USAS-12 shotgun. i seem to be getting shot 100 feet away. its annoying and overpowered i think.The spawn system isn't the best, you can get spawn trapped in the game easily.

These tips are okay but most are inaccurate

First of all there is no quickscoping in Battlefield 3

Second You forgot to mention the most important tip which is Play the fucking objective

Third There is no gun with "Low Recoil" this isn't cod. Shoot short controlled bursts if you want to hit something

Fourth "Assault rifle is the way to go in this game" once again this isn't cod

Using the assault rifle all the time would be disadvantageous

To be successful you must use your kit the right way

Yeah I'm just sticking with it. I can see some progress but damn the learning curve is a bitch in this game. I think it probably makes the game that much better when you do get it, you know the fact that you have to develop some skill first. I guess what I'm trying to say is the payoff is better when its something you have to work towards as opposed to just mopping up motherfuckers right from the start. Some dudes r good like that though and that can be frustrating. I'm on pc and xbox.

I end up getting high on scoreboard because of points made elsewhere (being familiar w/ core game-play) but fuck, I can't kill for shit. I really wish I could figure out what I'm not getting. On Xbox you spot with the back button, the one next to the xbox logo on the left. For Ps3 It is the Select Button, on the left too i believe.

Pay attention to your mini map. When you see your teammates die and disappear off the mini map while your in the spawn then you have to be very cautious. It is very easy to flank in this beta because a lot of people are new and don't know whats going on.

@samhuvi Get a better connection. That would help lol but besides that what you will have to do is compensate for your internet connection. You will have to probably camp more than usual. If your running and you see someone they probably are shooting at you before you even see them so you will have to have a great position.

Great tips man. Only thing I can think of that you left out is "spotting." "Spotting" helps your team by putting an orange triangle over an enemy's head, as well as, makes them show up on the mini-map. This is very helpful for players like me who play a guardian angel type sniping role frequently. I have saved many lives by headshotting a "spotted" enemy. :)

This was really informative. I'm a good CoD player and I've played some BFBC2 but never liked the multi-player. I've been playing the BF3 beta, and in general, it feels much more akin to CoD than BC2 did. The controls are more "fluid" I guess you could say.

I have been struggling, though. I've been rushing a lot but next time I play, I'll definitely apply some of these tips to my play-style.
