  • do you think this would fit on a 2002 vw golf 4 speed automatic? ive been looking around and i think it will work

  • drengel chamfert, pretty cool though. i like your climate control knobs. jdm.

  • For drag applications manuals are mostly utilized because of less parasitic loss and quicker shifts. However, once you start making enough power, stalled autos are the way to go. Invest in a good system and you'll have better times vs. the same setup with a manual tranny. Now track racing is completely different, manuals are preferred so you can stay in the powerband while going around turns as well as other reasons. This application kinda gives you a little of both worlds.

  • Are hey hard to install?

  • IM A HUGE STANDARD MANUAL SHIFT GUY>>>and i shouldnt be saying this soo shhhh, but ratchet shifters are the best ....hear me out tho....if u are boosted u can stay on that boost way better...in a good system, the shift speed is way faster then a human hand...in a good system and they can handle thousands of horse power...of course in a good system....but a regular old automatic car suckss, automatic is gay unless your crusty and tired of FUNNN!

  • So does this have a clutch or not?

  • @ApartTimeNinja yes 5 of them plus clutch packs.

  • wait so was that like a manual?

  • Manual rocks!!!

  • with one you have way more control of what your car does in different situations like stopping short, passing, going down hills in bad weather and being able to drop it to second and engine brake instead of locking your brakes and sliding or spinning. And this is coming from a loyal TKO600 owner! People are so close-minded. Almost every drag car is AUTO with a trans brake and manual valve body.

  • the people that said that buying a ratchet shifter is pointless because there is a delay between shifts are forgetting the fact that with one of them you can hold a gear as long as you want- rather than having it upshift halfway thru a tight curve for example.

  • @bitannoyingreally

I know you wrote this like two years ago...Sorry about that. Anyway, I wonder if this would work well with a TransGo shift kit? I believe they're available for the S197, not 100% positive though? From what I've heard over the years is this is a great kit. I know that they're available for the older stangs and those guys love it. Have you heard of this kit?

  • @JMoneymuthafucka

    It is a 5 speed.

  • now that would get fucking annoying as hell

  • @xXxchipperchopperxXx You don't have to shift like that, you can leave it in drive and it will shift on its own.

  • @JMoneymuthafucka yes i know that im just sayin if you want a sportier shift you have to do all that bullshit that would be annoying

  • Was the dealer sold out of stick shifts?

  • It still seems like it shifts when it wants to.

  • with this shifter, does it allow you to use all 5 of the cars gears?

  • @gta11134 i beleive it s four speed not sure though so i guess not

  • @gta11134 This kind of shifter connects to an automatic transmission, more than likely the car is a 3spd with O/D, so it should let you shift into all 3 gears + O/D

  • @JMoneymuthafucka 4 speed with o/c

  • I don't see why everyone is hating on manual transmissions now.

I've been driving stick and really, it just feels kinda normal and second nature to shift. It's not THAT BIG of a pain in the ass. I bet you people who can't stand shifting are the same who hate turning your blinker on for a lane change.

  • Kinda cumbersome, I have a B&M ratchet shifter & I like it. But looks like you are enjoying it

  • Sound like you have the same nasty clunk when downshifting to 2nd that I do.

  • Or you could man up and get a manual....

  • Nice shifter! Was looking for something different for my 95 'stang's current BM shifter and this looks like it!

  • @knuttypoo Tell that to all the NHRA Drag racer's.

  • @bitannoyingreally you can make the car shift faster and firmer with out TCI (with TUNING!!!!!) .

  • Jesus man, do some tranny work. That shifter is nothing without an instant shift.

  • Cool but have never like the delay or skip effect of a bump shifter. Your timing is off a little, your shifting late.

  • I am really considering getting this for my 07 GT, driving in traffic is a pain, but this looks like it can put the fun back into an automatic. is there a way to silence that annoying click? i usually drive with the stereo pretty loud, but if i were a passenger id find that pretty annoying, lol

  • nice shifter, getting it for my GT,

  • Can u use it for a daily driver a shift with it?

  • is it a dual clutch trans? or man?

  • That is why you need a srquential manual like the DSG, doesn't have the losses of a torque convertor, shifts in milli seconds and you can drive it like an auto in traffic if you like. Shifting an auto box manually is just a waste of time and energy and the gear changes are too slow. Just an opinion.

  • can i get this for my v6?

  • @Hanz213 yes you can get it for the v6 mustang, the gt and v6 mustangs use the same 5R55s automatic transmission.

  • lol

i love the breakneck delay in shift time.

thats so friggin slow. time for tranny mods! haha.

sweet lookin shifter tho, looks like it fits right in the interior nice and clean.

  • thats sick , i have a super street fighter turbo 400 with a hurst vmatc 2 shifter and i added a shift from b&m and its quick :D its on my 1970 gto 400 stroker :P

  • so you are calling 90%+ of Drag cars gay interesting

  • @ljwebb16 basically yes

  • o thats wicked

  • Yeah thats cool, but I think if i were to race a car on the track or build a street fighter, id probably want a 5 or 6spd. Auto's are very consistent at the track, but whats fun about letting the trans shift for you? I wish pro stock had true manuals still. Best drivers....best races.

  • People hate on autos so much. I drive in traffic every day, the "coolness" of a stick has worn out over the years. Unless you're racing (on a track for you douche street racers), autos are the way to go. Cool shifter man.

  • @RTiCreation Theres not to many fast full manual cars. Most are some sort of manual. OK here comes the argument

  • @pschar31 Nope, it's a decent point. (Besides, I grew out of youtube arguing a long time ago haha).

  • @RTiCreation not hating on autos but your coolness theory is wrong. people drive stick for reasons such as better gas milage, cheaper transmission repairs, and the pure fun of it. But i agree, this is a very cool shifter for an auto.

  • @MrFreshDougie I admit I'd be wrong to say that's the one and only reason. It just seems to me that most haters on this video are young kids who think autos are "gay" (because all young people are race car drivers right?). My daily driver is a stick actually. My tranny is pushing 300k too, so you're right there. And sticks are more fun, but not on the highway at rush hour. So my point is really only limited to commuting I should clarify.

  • @RTiCreation i wouldnt say all young people considering im only 15 and dont even own a car, but yes, most teenagers drive like idiots, dont know shit about cars, and give the occasional exceptions, like me, a bad name. I just happen to be one of the few that knows some general info about cars. And i totally agree with your "reclarified" theory. Stick is not fun in traffic.

  • @MrFreshDougie I agree, Im 19 and i drive a stick, i could honestly care less about the "coolness". The stick is attached to a Volvo. The only good things about a stick are that it makes driving a little more fun and it gets better gas mileage. Other then that its annoying, distracting, and sucks in traffic

  • I hate automatics but your car sounds awesome bud.

  • thats why he has a shifter dick head

  • to bad when u pull it takes 3 seconds for it to shift or was it on drive

  • toss in a shift kit...

  • can i put one of those in my subaru SVX i love the car hate the auto tranny

  • nothing is better then manual...........

  • @GTi in traffic it gets pretty annoying....

  • nice but it take too much lag to engange.. i've seen valve body kits wich makes trannsmission shift sequentially like that and be much faster..

is that just the shifter or the new valve body is included?

  • Just the shifter, but they do make the valve body.

  • just got mine, cant wait till its installed!

  • does this basically act as a triptronic on other cars or its only 1,2,3,D?

  • yes sort of...it has 1,2,3 and Drive...and drive has both 4th and 5th in it because of overdrive

  • Sounds nice man...

Im thinking about getting one how much was yours??

  • I prefer my manual stang

  • cant you get performance programmers that can adjust that stuff to?

  • You can adjust shift firmness

  • lol quite a job doing that

  • Thanks. I never knew how a ratchet shifter works. Now I want one.

  • the shifts are off.. anyone see that..

  • @cakes1284 yeah, i noticed that, hes gonna need to practice on it, its possible to match shifts in an auto.

  • can you go from 1st to 5th manually?

  • can you run this as just a regular automatic and just put it in drive or do you always have to shift?

  • Yes. It can be put in Drive and work just like the stock shifter.

  • that looks annoying lol...

  • do you have to let off the gas to manually shift? or can you just plant the gas and go?

  • Mash the gas and throw the shifter around like a madman. That's the beauty of a ratchet shifter.

  • if you get this on your stock mustang, can you manually shift like that without messing up your transmition, or do you have do do something special to shift like that

  • A manual shift doesn't hurt the transmission any more than an automatic shift at the same load and rpm.

  • @StigRulz unless you do some stupid shit like take ur foot off the gas mid shift or something in that nature

  • Where did you get that chrome trim piece? I can't find any like that anywhere.

  • It was already on the car when I got it.

  • @StigRulz Nice shifter, overall was it woth it? does it let you manually shift through all 5 gears up ,and down shift???

  • nice

  • Does it help with performance at all? Or is it just cosmetic?

  • With this particular car, it prevented the 3->4 shift going through the traps in the 1/4 mile. That helped with the trap speed and a little with the E.T. If this car had PCM tuning or some sort of trans kit, it would be even more beneficial.

Plus the stock shifter looks terrible.
