@Blignorance2 I just got the game a few weeks ago. Mainly play sniper, as I have for a long time on counter strike... But ive used other classes also, and ive already done some pretty crazy stuff that i would post over half of this... I guess this is "of the week" though so there can't be that much good stuff in the vid. Also depends on who you're vsing. Seems to be a lot of nubs in this game, guess cos its free.

@mattymuck True, but it's also very hard to play sniper in competitive, good medics will be hiding until they have uber and send scouts out to pressure the sniper. Basically every kill takes more effort and tactic in competitive.

@mattymuck That's what I was talking about regarding the level of skill. In TF2, you're a newb if you've got less than a thousand hours on the game. These are people who've played since 2007 honing every aspect of their skills. Playing against just one of these guys on pubs is usually crushing.

It's not about how much time you have in TF2. If you've played a lot of Quake 3 with the shotgun, that translates right to playing scout in TF2, right? They're not good because they've played 1000 years of TF2, they're good because they're good FPS players, and now they've had 1000 hours of TF2 to keep getting better. Something as arbitrary as "less than 1000 hours" is just stupid.

@Snacks256 Twitch reflexes are great for first person shooters but the real difference is in the small things. There's no such thing as a decent heavy who can't hear a spy decloak from a mile away and every good scout knows the small ledges on a map that they can run on. Take the second play of the week in the video, for example. 50% of it is aiming skill and the rest is manoeuvrability, ability to predict the enemy's location through choke points and knowing his team's position.

I have a competitive question regarding weapons-- is the Loch n Load a worthwhile sidegrade to the Grenade Launcher? Since I can see at this level, direct hits and airshots are not too uncommon, so I wonder if the Loch n Load would even be considered usable with all its downsides.

@uSuckFIN Go watch a couple competitive matches or read up on it. Usual team formats are 2 scouts, 2 soldiers, a demoman and a medic. Very occasionally, one of the scouts are traded for a different class like a heavy, sniper, etc. Pyro is almost never exclusively played.
