  • She was cool up until she got all intensely religious and talking about doing "God's will." Got a bit uncomfortable after that...

  • She's such a good writer, very captavating, im sure Ms. Meyer idolizes her

  • they shouldve brought anne rice back instead of making that stephanie meyer shitlight rubbish into a fucking motion picture! NOW THIS IS A MOTHERFUCKING VAMPIRE SERIES!

  • why doesn't she dye her hair?

  • @faninnarnia Why should she?

  • @faninnarnia whats your problem with gray hair? O.o i love it!

  • I haven't read none of her books

I wish I knew her before,I won't had missed one!

  • I have never seen Anne Rice before. I read 5 books by her, but holy Mother, I am impressed. She's amazing.

  • legendary write who enjoyed describing anal sex except when a woman was involved!!! lol read her sleeping beauty trilogy! never once does a woman get a stiff cock rammed up her ass. now if a beautiful young princess is a pleasure slave it's bound to happen repeatedly. c'mon. that was completely unfair. princess beauty had it coming at every turn for being such a bad bad girl. she just never GOT it. you should've made it happen and made her enjoy it just like the men. period. wtf anne rice.

  • I saw "INTERVIEW WITH A VAMPIRE" in an image of an "ARTIFICIALLY

CREATED CHARACTER" dressed in "ORANGE PANTS (MODERN NON-PENUS MAN)" that has "A SEPARATE BLOODY COPYCAT LEG" that looks like "A VAMPIRE WING WITH A CLAW" in a painting by Michelangelo called "The Last Judgement" located in the "Altar Wall" of THE SISTINE CHAPEL in THE VATICAN. The "ORANGE BLOODY COPYCAT" makes "SATAN WALK" using his "SEXY VAMPIRE WINGS". The painting represents the "SECOND COMING OF JESUSCHRIST".

  • man.. i have to do "beauty's punishment" which she wrote under her pseudonym, at an audition on friday.. wish me luck. i love it though, brilliant writing.

  • i like anne rice books because there based in the old days and i love twilight because its based in the new days

    i love both series

  • I love anne rice she's the author of my book "HOW TO BE A VAMPIRE" LUV IT

  • Anne Rice has a very loving soul. It is through her writing that I feel some of her most in depth feelings, etc. She touches on the concept that no matter who you are we all have a heart to love and be loved. I understand Anne Rice does love Jesus but can't really accept organized religion.

  • @XxGRiEVESxX The world is being systematically dumbed down by very evil people.Twlight is pure garbage, written to make money, not to make high art and beauty, and too teach and inspire like Anne's glorious work.

  • Even with your faith or without it, you are an amazing author.

I have never read a book with as much insight into people's personalities. The way you understand human nature, the values and faults, is unique. I believe that from everything I have read, your work on, what even seem to be the most unimportant character has more unique personality then some heroes.

If believing gives you inspiration to write, as much as atheism did in the past, then do so, because everything you have done is sound.

  • I think that anne rice lost the good way, God does not exist , and she knew it, but she forget that and destroy her books, she destroy Lestat, she didn't respect her characters, and I'm really sad for that reason. I love Lestat, but the old Lestat, before anne recover her faith

  • let me just say this. THE SLEEPING BEAUTY BOOKS ARE TOTALLY EFFED UP! dont read them, (i only read like 5 pages of the first one) dont , just dont. they are soooooo nasty and perverted

  • Dear Lord ... dear God have the power to offer me???

  • I'm an atheist, and this is a path I can get behind. Well done Anne - stand up for what you believe in.

  • @mike23984 Agreed. I'm agnostic and I stand up for anyone with beliefs, as long as they don't attack me...

  • Anne Rice has left Christianity. Does this mean a resurrgence in her Vampire characters?

  • @souldude81

She is still a Christian, she just got upset with some Christians. It was sort of immature, she should read CS Lewis' Screwtape Letters were he talks about the need to tolerate fellow believers that you do not agree with or feel the need to look down on.

  • @chukmaty Actually she is still not a christian although she has clarified that she is still committed to Christ, apart from the rules and regulations that is imparted by the bible and the church, hence in that respect she still believes in Jesus but she no longer gives herself the label Christian.

  • @souldude81

Commitment to Christ is what makes you a Christian. Her silly tirades against Christianity and her disbelieving some of the Bible does not change that. Christianity is not a label one takes for them self, it is a specific definition of following (or intending to follow Christ). Literally it means slave of Christ.

  • @chukmaty Actually it is and that label holds a certain precedent as far as following the bible is concerned. Ultimately it is your perogative if you still continue to see her as a Christian. You can be a follower of Jesus and not be a Christian. Gandhi for example was a follower of Jesus's teachings but did not call himself Christian either. Just saying.

  • @souldude81

Not really, maybe an admirer... not a follower.

  • i love anne rice

  • LEGEND WRITER, i mean the true art of writing is about turning a innocent, poor childhood character into a fucked up sex slave

  • @XxGRiEVESxX Lestat was the best vampire to ever exist. There are plenty of people who recognize that "Twilight" is terrible.

  • Seeing all these self-righteous anti-religion people preaching at Anne Rice is just sick-making, especially since I'm sure they'd whine about Christians preaching at them if they could.

  • I Agree Completely With XxGRiEVEsxX...I Cant Stomache The Twilight Series After Being Such an Anne Rice Fan....Everyone i Talk to Who Is So "into" Twilight I Simply Throw Out Any Anne rice title...Vampire Chronicles or not...I Just Simply ADORE Anne Rice By Any Name She Writes Under...And Feel Now Im not So Alone In the World Whenever I Read Anything Of Hers...

  • god is what you think of him, he/she has nothing to do with religion, period!

  • @thepersianlion In other words, you think that God is what YOU personally think of him, not what ANNE thinks of him (which involves religion). In other words, "God is what you think of him as long as what you think of him doesn't involve religion and is in line with what *I* think."

  • U ARE MY FAVORITE AUTHOR. I LUV HOW UR VAMP CHRONICLES WERE INTERTWINED WITH SO MUCH THEOLOGY. I WISH U ALL THE LUCK ON UR JOURNEY IN THIS LIFE ANNE.PEACE IN ALL U DO

  • I deeply wish that such a husband would come my way! :O

  • are those books that follow christs life any good they don't really sound like my thing but i mean she wrote them and so ill read them but if any of you have read them tell me what you thought

  • I don't really support your opinion on "all things christian are terrible" or that Rice is wasting her talent. I am atheist but I wish she would elaborate more on what made her regain her faith.

  • Ugh, I am so sick of the 3rd grade logic people use to dismiss Christ. "Priest raped kids and the Grand Inquisition" blah blah blah... As though Christ has to answer for the things done in His name anymore then Marilyn has to answer for school shootings. Some people are sick and will use any thing they can find to justify their sickness... like the Bible. Its pretty simple.

  • I love you Anne.

  • If you do not believe in a creator than you must believe that life has no meaning. This is just not logical. I quote C.S. Lewis...If the whole universe has no meaning, we should never have found out that it has no meaning: just as, if there were no light in the universe and therefore no creatures with eyes, we should never know it was dark. Dark would be without meaning.

  • @TheSouthernorycle Bullshit. Physicist Paul Davies makes a good case for life and the universe being full of meaning in their own right, without God.

  • Religion usually comes with age and appending death no mather if its close in reality or not. People need to belive in something or belive that they belive in nothing. I too think its a shame she only writes for god but she has given so much already that im just happy that she is happy.

  • I think that her becoming a believer again (which is good, dont get me wrong) she practically shunned her vamp novels away. i think she should still write about vamps, but tie in the religious-ness too. it could work! i <33 u anne rice.

  • I think that religion is an emotional issue and through her books you realize that Rice is more an emotional than a rational person. That´s why she was able to create all this facinating characters with all this emotional depth, yet sadly, the same depth emotion blind her from accepting the hard truth, god is a human invention, and human beings are part of the universe and not its center.

  • Some people are so busy analyzing other people's hearts...There are doctrines that make Catholics Catholic. It's a take it all or leave it all deal. But that doesn't mean you can say you know for sure what the circumstances of anyone's conscience is - Ok?

So since this is a free-internet, I'll share my spiel. One very redeeming quality in Anne is that she was always so very honest, in her writing, in her interviews and I think honesty is the template which invites the truth.

    Welcome home Anne.

  • I'm happy she's found faith again and she wants to write for God and Jesus, but I still would like at least one more Vampire Chronicals book- just to tie the whole thing together, you know? I felt that the last book wasn't enough.

  • love Anne Rice. thanks for the bookplates =)

  • Many people believe in God, but why Christ, why not other Gods. A God who walks on water, ascends to heaven bodily, comes back from the dead is a cartoon God. Stay real and maybe the concept of God may have a little validity.

  • Christianity is based on truth and logic much more than you suppose. That is one of the reasons I believe Christianity. It is a religion you could not have guessed. If it offered us just the kind of universe we had always expected, I should feel we were making it up. But, in fact, it is not the sort of thing anyone would have made up. It has just that queer twist about it that real things have. The problem is not simple and the answer is not going to be simple either.

  • Hi Orycle, You could use spending some time doing lots of reading about religions, the origins of religions, and the variety of ways human beings have attempted to explain life, death, and faith in something higher than themselves. Christ was one more phropet in a distinguished line of thruth seekers all around the world. The nonsense came when people got busy killing, burning, and making wars in his name. No need for nonsense and super hero Gods. Truth is enough.

  • Listen, A man who said the sort of things Jesus said was not just a "prophet" He would either be a lunatic on the level with a man who says he is a poached egg or he would be the devil of hell. You must take your choice. Either this was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut Him up for a fool or you can fall at His feet and call Him Lord and God. But let us not come with any patronizing nonsense about His being a great prophet. He has not left that open to us.

  • The truth shall make you free. If acquiring knowledge is patronizing, so be it. Keep your miracle worker. Just dont try and shove him down other people's throat. Remember the Spanish Inquisition, remember the Crusades, remember The Holocoust, remember Jim Jones, remember the millions of kids abused by sick priests, and which is crippling the Church financially and morally. We could have used just one small miracle from your miracle man then. Good Luck!

  • @TheSouthernorycle

I smell Uncle Jack in your post. :-)

I love CS Lewis, too. Bravo to Ms. Rice for having the courage to "come out" at this stage.

  • God sends his son, who is himself, to die in a blood sacrifice to himself, to save us from a place of damnation that he created....yeah...completely logical.

  • I love the Vampire Chronicles. Rice are the best writter of vampire literature. I love your stories and the description are fabolous

  • And more frank - THANK YOU for the many hours of reading JOY!

  • I wish her the best too... Loved her books, but I can't stomach the whole Catholic thing (though having said that - let me be clear, I believe to each his/ her own... so not slamming her choice - just disagree with catholicism per se).

  • i´m not a religious person but if Ms. Rice is happy writing about Jesus, i wish her the best as she is a great author.

  • May be it is the romantic part, that seduce most of them, but for me, there is no better book or movie than the one from Anne Rice.

Again this is just my opinion. Thanks.

  • Hello everyone,

Well I just wish to say how much I adore the Vampire Chronicle she create and all the passion that goes out from it.

I will probably have a lot of critics about that I will write now, but everyone seams to forget that she was the one who created this special atmosphere, far beyong Stephenie Meyer or Smith ! It is so sad that the public make a so hug pub about Twillight or The Vampire Diaries, when Interview with a Vampire, was here before all that !

  • @louli99 With all due respect to ya comment I am huge L.J Smith fan but not a vampire diary fan. Her Books the nightworld series are 100x time more fascinating to read compare to twilight put together even her novel vampire diaries.

  • @louli99 As for Anne though i am yet to read her books since my both of ma close firends one whom is a real vampire have given praises for it, there were other vampire novels that were written before her time that have also created sensation back in it time when it was published during the 16th, 17th and 18th century

  • I absolutely love the vampire chronicles, i have not finished them all yet but so far Im hooked. I only wish she would continue these great series. :}

  • I positively love Anne Rice and all her works - she has a remarkable command of the use of words - the cadence created has for me the effect of being taken on a ride -

  • Anne Rice is an amazing writer and I know people have their own opinions, but I absolutely loathe it whenever people say Anne Rice is a (insert a cruel insulting name), and she stopped writing well because of her christian books.

The reason most writers write books is to write for their pleasure and their enjoyment.

Anne Rice is still Anne Rice no matter what her religon is or the books she writes.

I mean come on, she can't satisfy every single individual in the world bacause of their likes.

  • I find it hard to get into a good book, but the way Anne Rice writes I find it intoxicatingly submerging and am able to lose myself in her writing.

I love all the vampire books she has written.

  • It really sucks when you have finished all of the books. when your so into it! But i have to say, Marius is the most interesting for sure.

  • twlight is shit and annerice had skill...then she gave her life to christ....and yeah...

  • Anne Rice has the right to use her gift of writing as she chooses. If you think about it, the vampire series is complete with "Blood Canticle" with all of the loose ends wrapped up. What made Lestat so appealing was his fight against his dark destiny with his free will. After reading her vampire series and "Called Out of Darkness" the reader realizes that each book was Anne's way of exploring her spirituality. Giving her writing gift to God is the last and highest commitment of her career.

  • not cool you left us wanting more from lestat you left him in new orleans pre katrina we nead more you are just selfish

  • Write your own book and get a fucking life, n00b.

  • Makes me sad that you had to give up wrttingthe vampire chronicles simply because you became a christian. something like that a shouldn't play a part in whether or not to continue the series :(

  • @YaoiLover00 If you are not a writer, you don't understand. I am. Writing is something that takes you over--like being possessed. Many fiction writers will say they feel as if they're in an altered state or "not themselves" or in a trance when "in the zone" of writing something that they’re passionate about. Faith, or its absence, is an integral part of that. Writers *must* write what we know and feel, including our spirituality. If we try to do otherwise we're more apt to fail.

  • @Delmarvellous I understand. I am not a professional writer yet myself, but a lot of Psychics says some day I'll be a best seller of works & others say I'll be so busy making movies, I won't have time to call a Psychic! I don;t know if this will come true as much as I want it too, but I'm starting a new project because unlike these writers we have FaceBook these days & I am going to start dabbling in short stories & post them on FaceBook to see what people think.

  • You're a virgin aren't you?

  • I LOVE THESE BOOKS]

  • not really legendary...

  • i just got a book from anne rice.....are they any good? i hear that stephenie meyer is the best author to write about vampire scence anne rice....... so im guessing that she is a good writter too !

  • Anne Rice is, like, a legend. Her books about vampries are 100times better than Meyer's, so if u like Meyer's whole Twilight saga, I think u'll LOVE Rice's books. I personally think she's the best author as far as vampires are concerned :)

  • Hello,Jasper.

Anne Rice outdoes SM in everyway possible.

Read Interview With The Vampire,The Vampire Lestat, and Queen Of The Damned.

I guarantee you will be hooked immediately.

  • OMG WHY DOES EVERYONE RELATE/COMPARE INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE TO TWILIGHT????? INTERVIEW WITH THE VAMPIRE IS ONE OF THE WORLD'S MOST AMAZING BOOKS EVER WRITTEN. I CANT EVEN TEEEEELLLLLL YOU HOW MUCH IT EXEEDS TWILIGHT IN EVERY STANDADRD. THEY ARENT EVEN IN THE SAME LEAGUE AS EACH OTHER SO STOP COMPARING THEM!!! GAAAAHHHHHHHHHH Twilight is sooooo stupid! The only reason people like it is b/c it was probably their first love story!!!

  • stephenie meyer is nothing compared to anne rice. stephanie likes to sweeten her books.

  • They're arguably the best vampire books out there, but in the end of the series, they sorta start to get a little weird. They're AMAZING though. Interview isn't her best, but it's best to start it first. Queen of the Damned is the best in the vampire chronicles, and Vittorio the Vampire is probably the best overall.

  • but anne don't you think that we are god?...i thought that was evident in your books....

  • What do you mean by that? I'mnot saying this sarcstically or anything I'm just wondering what you mean by that... But back to subject, I doubt Anne has any problem with Atheism.... Doesn't seem like the person

  • i think there is just one consciousness and we are all symptoms of the one consciousness...so in a deep way we are all the same person...

  • I don't understand why AR fans get so upset that she wrote the Christ Books,. If you go all the way back to IWTV and up to MTD,Mrs.Rice was working her way, slowly but surely back to faith.

I adore ALL her works. Her talent hasn't changed, just her subject matter.

  • Haven't read any of the new stuff. Are they any good, or better?

  • I one hundred percent agree with you....

  • her books are just amazing and i've read all the way to the Body Theif before i saw her picture and when i did i was like OMG she doesn't look like an occult writer. She's just damn good!

  • Anne Rice (me) was on a journey, and the journey led her to Christ. That is what happened. She progressed, she moved forward, she became a new person. It's simple enough. The old Anne Rice and the new Anne Rice are the same. I am that person.

  • I respect that you've made a decision regarding the subject matter/direction of your future works, but I do not support it. I would appreciate it if you wrote your god-books while continuing to write other books with a more secular theme. Thank you for your attention and (perhaps?) compliance with my wishes

  • @AnneRiceDotCom What you mean is: you "think" you've found Christ. I can assure you that you have not however, because he was nothing more than a human being who died many many years ago I'm afraid. Read "The God Delusion" and you'll soon realize that being an athiest was very wise. However, you're a fabulous writer, there's no doubt about that!

  • @rikkiwonka75 Prove it. Seriously, you cannot prove that he ISN'T God, you can only assert your opinion. Your assurance quite literally means nothing.

Honestly, you sound like the atheistic version of the evangelical who cannot shut up about Jesus.

  • @dementadoom Well, I could also ask you to "prove" that I'm not God, and although you couldn't, it's pretty safe to assume that I'm not. I'm sorry my friend, but when people make such mad statements, it's not for others to prove they are wrong. It's for the person who made the mad statement to prove they are right. And I'm sorry, but to believe a human being came back to life as a messenger is absolutely bonkers. Believing in an imaginary man who lives in the sky is absolutely bonkers too.

  • @rikkiwonka75 lol you're pretty funny

  • @AnneRiceDotCom Dear Anne one of ma close friends is a real vampire and has praised ya novels saying there is a lot of truth to ya perception on vampires compared to other novels. out of curiosity havve you ever had an actual encouter with them? or was in an intense relationship with one?

  • I respect christanity and all but uh... who is this and what has she done with anne rice!

  • O.K Cool.

  • WTF?? wheres Anne Rice??

  • thats the woman talking . . . duh

  • lol, I meant wheres the old version of Anne Rice. butface. ^^

  • yeah.. where? huhuh T_T
