@diamondtugs Okay, first what you need to do is try to remember if you signed any contracts. If you did, read the fine lines. Read absolutely everything on those pages! Most likely they will have a clause about an early termination fee. Calculate which is the better option. Ex: $495+(300x6)=$2295 that's the total price without terminating (before tax). The termination fee is $495+(the fee) if that is less than $2295 then go with it! You won't lose as much money that way.

My daughter got a call back today on the spot. She was so excited but then something just didn't seem right. It was interesting that I didn't get to see their "teachers" or anything like that. We were in a hotel for crying out loud. Yes, we knew it was a school and she wants to act so yes, I will be paying for acting lessons to help prepare her but not that way. You don't know what you're talking about, JRP is a great school and I've gotten many callbacks from agents and casting directors and they aren't a rip off at all. The only reason why it's more expensive is because it's not ONLY a school, you have the opportunity to go on auditions and be seen in front of casting directors and agents. I attend JRP Tampa, and I have for the past three years. It's not a waste of time at all. So, before you open your mouth next time, do more research than google.

I used to go to JRP... and heres the thing people misunderstand.. JRP IS NOT a talent agency. So don't expect to get tons of well paying work from it. If you are getting well paying work then you are one of the lucky ones. However IT IS an acting school. It's not a fantastic acting school, and for the money you pay for it IT SHOULD BE. Acting schools DO ask for money upfront. Talent agencies DO NOT, and if they do, its a scam. My opinion: Get with a talent agency before wasting money on school:)

The only thing I didn't like about JRP was that they made me repeat classes ,but when I was about to start the classes over again I was already signed so I just stopped going. (:

Its not a scam. I was with them. I only had to pay 1,000. I got a photoshoot with that, professionally. And I got all rights to the pictures. They are great quality. They teach you how to act and everything.. You have fun and its really not a scam......... you are going to have to pay money to get into the entertainment ind. thats just how it works.

@diamondtugs Okay, first what you need to do is try to remember if you signed any contracts. If you did, read the fine lines. Read absolutely everything on those pages! Most likely they will have a clause about an early termination fee. Calculate which is the better option. Ex: $495+(300x6)=$2295 that's the total price without terminating (before tax). The termination fee is $495+(the fee) if that is less than $2295 then go with it! You won't lose as much money that way.

I've been going to the school for over five years now. You are not paying for the auditions, you're paying for the school. And no one is forcing you to pay up for any auditions after that. I can vouch for her. JRP is a full on scam because I did the classes in 2007, went to IPOP, y'all know what happens next. And when my mentor and I went back to the building, it said they moved. So they are a big big SCAM!!!!! And I only did 5 classes out of the 20 that I was suppose to take cuz they moved me in the group to go to LAIPOP. -Expect constant rejection
-There might be someone to take a headshot of you at auditions. If their headshot doesn't look like the one you gave them, you need a new one.
-Look as best as you can. As cruel as it sounds, looks matter and its a HUGE deal.
-Be honest with them when they ask why you want the part
-Being an extra is a step in the right direction, BUT it does NOT make you a movie star
-Never show that you're nervous

My daughter got a call back today on the spot. She was so excited but then something just didn't seem right. It was interesting that I didn't get to see their "teachers" or anything like that. We were in a hotel for crying out loud. Yes, we knew it was a school and she wants to act so yes, I will be paying for acting lessons to help prepare her but not that way. You don't know what you're talking about, JRP is a great school and I've gotten many callbacks from agents and casting directors and they aren't a rip off at all. The only reason why it's more expensive is because it's not ONLY a school, you have the opportunity to go on auditions and be seen in front of casting directors and agents. I attend JRP Tampa, and I have for the past three years. It's not a waste of time at all. So, before you open your mouth next time, do more research than google.

@AshluvMB okay J.R.P called me and Now I'm going to a photo shoot audition on Saturday. Now I'm scared to go there but still excited. I don't get how all these people would get somewhere if they aren't on shows now. Brenda Songz went there and she made it. But I dont get this video :|

Sorry to say it but I got a job as a model for Boeing, I didn't need professional pictures and I did not pay them - they paid me and even provided wardrobe for me...I was at Pacific Place in downtown Seattle talking to the Concierge. At every shoot I went to I got paid the same day at the end of the day for each day. John Robert Powers is a SCHOOL. period. They are not an agency or a management company.

She tells the truth!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We found out the hard way over last week-end. If you don't believe her there's a lot on the web about them. I contacted Better Business Bureau. I was told they are not on the up and up. I am now out $560.62 and have tried to contact them all day yesterday and today........nothing but an answering machine. My daughter was told they would have to come up with another $1,700.00 by Thurs. This is 5 Saturdays....that's all!!!! Then there's more...

Brenda Song and Diana Ross DIDDDDD NOOOOOTTTTT get anywhere just doing JRP. Sorry guys.. YOU have it wrong. They may have started there for a year or so... and yes it may have helped a bit. But THE ONLY WAY they got the places they did is though a really good talent agency. END OF STORY. Don't be foolish.

I used to go to JRP... and heres the thing people misunderstand.. JRP IS NOT a talent agency. So don't expect to get tons of well paying work from it. If you are getting well paying work then you are one of the lucky ones. However IT IS an acting school. It's not a fantastic acting school, and for the money you pay for it IT SHOULD BE. Acting schools DO ask for money upfront. Talent agencies DO NOT, and if they do, its a scam. My opinion: Get with a talent agency before wasting money on school:)

RIGHT or WRONG i dont give a shit, they called me and said i was the "one they were looking for" and that i was "great" etc. this is all bullshit! i will never pay 10,000 for cheap pointless classes. Again if you want to succeed you have to get an agent who give you that oppurtunity for no money or very little. JRP is not needed for me because i have talent i just need an agent to get me out there.

@CelebrityAffair I know right, I got signed with Coast to Coast Talent Group in Los Angeles through JRP! I did commercials and got modeling jobs! The only thing I didn't like about JRP was that they made me repeat classes ,but when I was about to start the classes over again I was already signed so I just stopped going. (:

I went to the school in Agoura Hills,CA and i paid $10,000 for one year and they taught me pretty well, but then they made me repeat the same exact classes when i wasnt even there for a full year yet!! But i did go to IPOP, idk if they still call it that cuz i went there like 4 years ago ahha, and i got signed with an agent and it was legit though.
