When I was in Tibet I visited schools, hospitals , etc..almost all Tibetans I Met were very happy with China's administration....NONE forgot the brutal rule of the Dalai Lama and some very old people showed me scars left on their ankles from where they wore chains under "His Holiness"...so everyone here needs to read more and visit Tibet before forming an opinion.

"Violent protest": protestors turn violent against police, or police turn violent against protesters. Or they turn violent against each other.
"riot": rioters turn violent against not only police, but also innocent civilians.

When I was in Tibet I visited schools, hospitals , etc..almost all Tibetans I Met were very happy with China's administration....NONE forgot the brutal rule of the Dalai Lama and some very old people showed me scars left on their ankles from where they wore chains under "His Holiness"...so everyone here needs to read more and visit Tibet before forming an opinion.

I have another question. Why are journalist and visitors not allowed in Tibet? What are they hiding?

Natara, they might ask for Dalai's pictures but that does not justify murdering innocents. Tibet in 2008 has seen great development since 1999. Why shud we let in foreign journalists when they cannot report the truth, like characterizing the riots as peaceful protests blah blah and that the Chinese security were driving in Tanks to brutally crackdown, when we knew the situation was exactly opposite. They called APC tanks, so as to try to link the riot to Tian An Men.

I heard rumors that the Hui Muslims wanted revenge and wanted to burn down the Jokhang but the government intervened to protect the Jokhang. I can understand the rage of the Muslims as their quarter was completely thrashed and a mosque was burnt, but burning down the Jokhang is not acceptable! After all, the Jokhang has strong links to Chinese Princess Wen Cheng, who promoted Buddhism to King Songtsen and holy to the majority of our Tibetan brothers who are against the Free Tibet tugs.
