Phish has definitely played sub-par shows, but to say that they suck? I dunno about that, guy. They are amazing improvisational musicians.

Dude... it's communication using musical notes, listen to what the other instruments are playing, all the polyrythms, and how Trey slides in and keeps everything smooth... he's the only man ever to have written 12th century style fugues for a modern day band. He's one of the most amazing musicians ever, you just really need to listen to whats going on.

i think you're blinded by the shitty bootleg sound quality. this is a pretty good performance if you actually listen to all of the instruments together. you'll hear how, contrary to pretty much any high school talent show, they are all on rhythm, on key, and sound pretty good. the recording quality (which has nothing to do with the performance) IS, however, as bad as that of a high school talent show.

yeah, i squint when i play too. It's cause if I can see my fingers clearly i pay to much atention to what im seeing as opposed to what im hearing, and then i get self concious and try to play beyond my ability. And thats a headache for everybody
