Kodak Zi8 sound test

that buzz sound is terrible on the built in mic. I guess you could say the HD picture quality on this camera makes up for it. Did you use a fake sony ds70p? The fake ones are all over ebay...

i've really enjoyed it. i've used it on the Zi8, our Canon 5D Mark II, and our Canon 7D. picks up sound really well when you're near your subject. it does have its limits, though: not so great for recording someone across the room.

i used the "Electroacoustics Toolbox" which is a free downloadable FFT analyzer etc. etc. you can google it and do this test yourself! check out my video response and some of the Zi8 vides on my page.

i got my Sony ECM DS70p and it works okay. just dont use the long cable that came with it cause it will even cause more problems.

a buzzing sound of 7.9kHz at -33.8dB! it was pretty annoying. i just removed the long cable and everything was good to go.

i analyzed the audio of the playback in my Zi8 with the internal mic and found a buzzing sound of close to 5.5kHz at -46dB this is fluctuatiing around -45 and -47dB

its pretty annoying. im not sure if this will disappear when you put it in your HD players.

just mute the sound, export the audio to audacity and re import it.

I like the loader sound from the Zi8 but do not like the buzzing sound.

starting at 0:35 can you hear that noise? is this a bug? cuz my zi8 makes that sound also.

Like others I believe I hear it on mine as well but when I burn it to blu ray and watch it on my HD Plasma the noise is gone. I don't know why.

You need to upgrade the firmware Kodak fixed the problem with the audio.

Funny thing is I upgrade my zi8 but I'm still having the buzzing sound.

Fcc with interference ofelectronics alwaysstamped on manuals, and here we have interference aftera shop release why?

Can a firmware update make the performance of the internal mic better ?

no, not muffled. I actually think I just had the gain control turned too far down. but the sections are certainly labelled correctly. the built-in mic has an awful whine/buzz to it.

i just watched the full video.. and the external mic sounds muffled and the one without sounds great?

did you put the notes on the wrong one if you know what i mean?

and have you tried talking incide and out?

would you recomend it?

i was actually going to buy that mic to go with the kodak because its small and clips on!
