Aliens probably not, early men probably yes. I think our ancestors where more in toutch with the world around us. What we can`t explain is mostly because we lost toutch with our surroundings.

To end this once and for all, lions are not humans. Humans have a consciousness that all other species do not. Not only can we care for what is similar, we can care for what is dissimilar. We can think more abstractly then a parrot or a dog, and we have the cognitive strength to appropriate things in the world other species simply cannot.
Lions do not have the ability to think "This is nice, this is mean."
