In 1990 when I was 16 ... I was totally into this song... The lead singer Andrea Lewis had a Huge influence on me. ... 20 years later and I havent change. I dress and dance the same. O-ya.
My favorite song by this Welsh group was "End of the Beginning" I had to pay extra for this cd back in 89 cause it was an import but I loved CRAWDADDY, it was worth every cent.
In 1990 I had this on cassette, rockin' it in my hatchback with a big kicker box sound system...this song was part of a great summer at my old home on the Jersey Shore. I heard it on FM 106.3 WHTG radio...sadly that station has changed its format.
I remember this song from the fall of 1990 on WFNX in Boston, which broadcast alternative rock in the truest sense back then. A year later everything changed of course with Nirvana and Seattle grunge-rock all but taking over the scene. Great, promising alt-pop bands like these suffered as a result, and they never got to achieve any success beyond indie level, and broke up just before the Britpop explosion of the mid-90s, not to mention the late '90s Welsh explosion led by Catatonia. Ace song!
I saw this video in, of all places, Pat Robertson's CBN channel on one of their video show segmants back when this single was released. Ironic because their forthcoming CD at the time was called "Erotica". Excellent song. Plays to my girl group and psychodelica likings with just a slight dash of techno to make it interesting.
@mondoging ...I had this album (Crawdaddy) on cassete and literally wore it OUT, completely....so genius that I am circa 1993 ish I buy it again.....on vinyl...DOH! By the way the actual tape lasted way longer than the printing on it, by the time the tape fouled it had looked like a completely blank clear tape for a year or 2. The album was released in 1990 but I took that tape everywhere. That and Nothing's Shocking =) Gotta luv Peri!
Back in the summer of 1991,Coca Cola was giving out free mini CD's in every 5 or 10 12 packs. This song was on one of the discs, and it became a favorite...
Andrea kissed me on the cheek and told me I was sweet - I saw them play at the chestnut Cabaret in Philly in the early 90's - got her to sign all my CDs. I never mooned over a singer before, but at that time in my life, it seemed like incredibly relevant music.
I could never decide whether I liked the Darling Buds or the Primitives better - but in the end, it didn't matter - both groups are/were great. Anyone know if the Buds released a video or if there's a live version of "Do You Have to Break My Heart" ?
si lla los as leido copia y pega esto en 5 videos mas o tu madre morirá en 3 dias, hacedlo por fabor mi a mi amigo le paso, yo lo e hecho pa que no me pase, por fabor acedme caso. esto es una maldicioooooon
This was my favorite band in 1993! I reviewed their albums at Brooklyn College.... .They should have been so much bigger, thanks for the memories, Darling Buds!
guitarist geraint "harley " farr there too. only differance on this video is drummer...jimmy hughes....who played on last two albums and also played for icicle works and black....great drummer live i saw these in 92 in newport..tj's..great underrared band..got loads of memorbilia of them in attic. andrew, dead ringers
This was a great song. I`m pretty sure grunge fucked up the indie/alternative music industry. Now we get Metalica on stations where we used to hear Devo and such.
Love this song but can anyone tell me why another song of theirs called "It's all up to you" isn't availeablr in this country according to youtrube?

This was a great song but I admit back in the day I thought this was The Primitives when I first heard it.

Man the guitar tone (rhythm) sounds so much like John Squire's tone.

@luckylacey17, Strangely, the band of Jamie Campbell Bower has the same title that.

Saw them live in Liverpool Poly in 1989. Earlier that day they were in HMV signing records and I bought this track on 12" see-through vinyl.
God I loved this band! And I used to get really annoyed when people confused them with The Primatives! Thanks for the up-load!

There was only Andrea left of the original line up by this time.
I had almost forgotten about this great song; takes me back to the Riverside, Newcastle in the late 80's...ah where has all that time gone?
Fantastic to hear that Andrea is happy and doing well...

Very overlooked here in the U.S. I remember hearing this song in clubs very often in 1990.

One of the catchiest songs ever written. Kinda like if Blur had an adorable girl as a lead singer.

ahhhhh the 90's...takes me back to college days, indie music seemed so much less like the corporate machine "alternative" music is today.
