  • im curently setting up a 600ltr marine tank can u give me any advice??

  • @daledgend1981 My advise would be too find a retailer and fellow hobbyists with excellent display tanks. That way you know the advise you recieve will be based on real experience rather than re hashed info. Some of the better forums will also be a great place to ask questions, Ultimate reef in the UK or Reef central in the US being two.

    Regards Tony

  • the best one on youtube

  • you should check out the video on this app called AQUARIUM I.D.

  • This aqaurium is simply amazing!!! he know's his shit man...awesome!!!!!

  • check out my video Aquarium I.D.

  • I have this fav'd and come here when I want to feed my soul. I just sit and stare and smile. I was given a 25 gal tank and equipment so I thought I'd try to keep some feeder goldfish alive. Four out of six survived, so I got 3 "scum suckers" ( those black critters with the sucker on the underside) plus some white/pinky kissing fish and two angelfish. Well the angelfish chowed down on the delicate and shy kissing fish plus it's partner and also got two of the black things. Now I do research

  • gold flake is grubbing 6:14...but what a fish!!!

  • The maintenence on this must be very tramendous.

  • @kingdomriver1 David has set the system up so its as easy to maintain as possible but yes everything with the system is large by any hobbyists standard.

All change underway though and the system is due another rebirth soon!!!

    regards Tony

  • ARE WE RELATED?? WE HAVE THE SAME LAST NAMMMEEEE

  • very inspiring great job, this is how we try to build them when the clients funds are right.

  • I've been into salt water tanks since the mid 70s and I'm just blown away by this amazing tank. The things that blow me are the mutant colored Yellow tangs that are yellow and white. I can't even imagine what they are worth. I had a 300 gal tank in the 80s back when you could buy Clarion Angels for around $200.00. I've heard they can go as high as $8000.00 these days! I had a # flames, a semi Juvie Clarion, and adult and a # of Garibaldis. Do you think I like Orange? :-) Bravo Mr. Saxby!

  • @rschuh1

Just for info the tangs are known as Tri-color tangs(Zebrasoma Tricolor) but there is some question if they are mutant Scopas or Yellow tangs or even wild cross bred

Great tank that just keeps getting better!!

  • All I can say is wow!!! U are the man :)

  • 1:05...

Oh gosh, so many fish, no oxygen you know... Hahaha

  • @AirlanggaRI Not so- this aquarium holds 16,000L or so and has many oxygenated remore sump systems attached. The fact that many fish are at one end ready for feeding makes the tank look busier than it is. The tank stocking was revised in 2009 for more shoaling fishes for a reef crest feel with a bias towards SPS and LPS corals. The video can be viewed from Stuart's You tube home page.

  • @TonyatDD : Hehehe... I was rather joking :D

    Don't take it seriously...

  • what an awesome tank!

  • waiting one minute for a video to play in 2012 is an absolute FAIL

  • @ldballoon4 You could always slide the play bar along, not sure why its a fail and why intro's should be any different in 2012.

  • wow

    Really beautiful aquarium

if i had won the 182m lotto

i defo would had something like mr david saxby tank

thank you for showin us the wonderful aquarium

  • Where'd you getting the mutated tangs

  • @fishinizer The tri color tangs do come up in the hobby from time to time, if you have a good local retailer ask them to try and get one in for you.

  • /watch?v=H91IEZ4ldck

  • I love your mutated tangs! they're sweet!

  • I think theres to much fish :0

  • nice tank dude. I made a reef hip hop video featuring jay z lol let me know what you think, its titled Corals In Paris

  • OVER STOCKED!

  • @mrswagerondeckk shut up you have no idea what your talking about

  • @afrankdapimp12 im pretty sure i do... i have a 180 gallon tank and i know my stuff

  • @mrswagerondeckk he has had his tank up and running for 13 years i think he knows a little more

  • @afrankdapimp12 he does know his stuff... but it doesn't mean that his tank isn't overstocked

  • @mrswagerondeckk

Have a look at David's 2009 video as the tank was revamped to bias towards smaller shoaling fishes and LPS/SPS corals. But with regards to the overstocked comments one must remember that this is a 16,000L system and in many of the shots the fish have collected at one end of the large L shaped tank for feeding.

  • @TonyatDD Reefs have many more fish than that. As long as he can handle the bioload I think he is doing fine. I agree with you Tonyatdd

  • If this tank cracked it would be such a disaster :(

  • @jtisle506 True but if your going to get wet you may as well do it in style. That said David has a huge amount of water off the system so temp housing of most if not all livestock wouldnt be a problem.

  • great tank ... it really is thriving .. good job!

  • Great tank. I was wondering if you had any opinions on deep sand beds?

  • @Cpedro1685 David's Nitrate is removed in the main by carbon fed Deltec Nitrate reactors and one of his sumps also contains a Caulerpa bed. For a full run down on David's system please see the following link below but add the w's to the start of the link as You tube does not allow links, also replace the 'dot' at the end with the correct character.

theaquariumsolution'dot'com/files/Technical review of David Saxbys system2'dot'pdf

  • @Cpedro1685 Actually look at the response that sits just under the video, there is a direct link there. This will give you a full understanding of how David's system is set up.

  • Beautiful tank. It Looks like whoever did it put alot of effort into it. Mine is not as nearly as beautiful as this but it would be cool if you checked mine out my channel and give me some constructive criticism on mine.

  • I thought this was a scary halloween video with the music intro...LOL

  • I would love to visit and see you tank David is that possible with appointment .....

  • @dm002a8686 Hi

This may be possible but can you touch base with me at tony'at'theaquariumsolution'dot'com and ill pass your details onto David. Just replace the at and dot with the appropriate characters as you tube does not allow links.

    regards Tony

  • This is the best saltwater aquarium in the world, this man really knows what hes doing. Thumbs up. i would love to visit you sometime. You inspire so many people.

I have added your channel to reeftank dot nl months ago if u ever have the time please visit my 1100 liter tank.

  • must be a bitch cleaning it out

  • @Arsenalfan941 A well run reef tank shouldnt require a dreat deal of cleaning apart from glass cleaning etc. The majority of work takes place maintaining media, equipment, water changes etc although David has as much of his equipment automated as possible. This includes water change vessels, automatic cleaning heads on skimmers etc etc.

  • minecraft anyone?

  • Amazing tank :)

  • 6:18 BAD FISHY!!!

  • ccheck out my vids sub plz ^^

  • oooh a lottery win is in order around about now lol

  • lol , why would you dislike??? ha ha ha what did the fish look at your girlfreind in the vid? lolz

  • 16000 L comes to more than 4200 gallons. CRAZY!!! OMG at the Anthias. Amazing. I wonder what his power bill is, to support that kind of lighting... =O

  • Money.

  • man....unbelievable.....im tryin to get a 200 gal and i thought my hands were full

  • What is the triggerfish at 5:10? Is it a red tail I used the magic of google but not sure I'm correct.

  • @AtticusDoodlePoo that's a crosshatch triggerfish they are very expensive i looked in liveaquaria and they cost 550 dollars!

  • Could you imagine trying to control aiptasia or catch a mantis shrimp in this thing?!

  • @capsaicinrain

We all suffer pest problems within our reef tanks from time to time, david'd is no different. Method's used on this grand scale can be different to what we may try and home though. For instance David used small Octopus to rid the tank of pest crabs and Mantis before the tank was stocked as a natural predator. David removed these before stocking and passed them on.Very large aquaria demands thinking out of the box and David manages work arounds in most cases.

  • Wow. Do you maintain it by yourself?

  • @138fishers

Hi , Yes David maintains the aquarium himself although there are jobs where he needs an extra pair of hands due to the depth of the aquarium.

  • how does he clean that?

  • looks great man... i'm feeling hella clostro right now tho!! tooooo many fish i feel

  • @LeanDreMPeters Take a look at the 2009 video for an updated look at the aquarium and coral stocking is now biased towards SPS/LPS and fish more towards smaller shoaling fish that would be found at the reef crest. Not sure what you mean about fish to coral ratio though, surely the only sign of a balance problem would be due to nutrients effecting coral health and this certainly isnt the case here. This is a 16000L system, its easy to forget the dilution factor involved and the display is L shape

  • @LeanDreMPeters - guess you'd feel clostro diving in Indonesia or Papua New Guinea then... ; )

  • u rock man

  • where did this guy get a white yellow tang?

  • @snowboarderrx

    Hiya

    Thats a tri-colour tang.

  • Thats the coolest tank with all those fish

  • I'm scared

  • Excellent tank!!! Hoe much $ u put into it? Haha

  • i wonder if the fish think hes god since without him theyre dead

  • Amazing.........

  • This alone will turn anyone on to the hobby... Nice setup!!!

  • What variation of Tang is that at 8.00mins? Looks like a Yellow Tang dipped in white?

  • @ChrisRottweiler Hiya

Its a Tri colour tang, these are very variable in colour and im quite a fan although never been lucky enough to own one,

  • @TonyatDD Thanks mate.

  • Wow!!

  • nice

  • Fish to coral ratio is way out of balance.

Too many fish, you would never see this concentration on any reef.

Doesn't look natural, what ever the cost!

  • @DMK748 Hi ,Take a look at the 2009 video for an updated look at the aquarium and coral stocking is now biased towards SPS/LPS and fish more towards smaller shoaling fish that would be found at the reef crest. Not sure what you mean about fish to coral ratio though, surely the only sign of a balance problem would be due to nutrients effecting coral health and this certainly isnt the case here. This is a 16000L system, its easy to forget the dilution factor involved and the display is L shape

  • @TonyatDD cont:

This means fish collect at one end of the L when being fed giving the illusion that stocking is denser than the system size as the longest part of the 4 foot deep aquarium is around the other side.

  • Fish to coral ratio is way out of balance.

    Too many fish.

  • these are so beautiful fishes

  • I think taht there are much fish for the aquarium.

I don't write English googd! Sorry!

  • @Capalleras David aquascaped his tank again in 2009, please check out the latest video as fish stocking is now biased to smaller shoaling fish and corals biased towards sps and lps. That said much of the video here was shot at feeding time and the fish were concentrated at one end of the tank.We have to remember the system is 16,000L.

  • In a dream ... good choice for the music ...How lucky you are!!!

  • Too many small red fish I would have achielles tang I didn't see one and some blue tangs but I'm sure he don't want to risk for ich so many yellow tangs

  • @stuartbertram pls could you tell what's the second music piece playing on the video? thanx!

  • @confuse Yup David walks them around the park every day on a lead, sorry i couldnt resist.

  • BELLISSIMO!

  • <3 <3 <3333 just plain amazing

  • wew very inspiring!!

  • Wow! Is that a crosshatch trigger? They cost $600. What's wrong with those two yellow tangs? The one with black on it and the one with white on it?

  • @AJY710

Hi , David did have the cross hatch triggers but in 2009 he rescaped his tank to house more sps and lps and stock with smaller reef crest fishes, please see the 2009 video. The tangs are in fact Tri coloured tangs rather than yellow tangs hence the colour varation.

  • lol very nice, this david guy has to be really richhhhhh

  • Breath taking.... Beautiful....

  • wow!

To the 29 idiots who gave this a this a thumbs down...I doubt they knew the work involved. That tank is a lifetime's commitment and that's about how long it probably took to build. There had to have been 1000 individual fish in that aquarium.

  • great job

  • The best reef tank . Wow great work !!

  • Hey man,i wish you great luck with this tank....it is amazing.....Did you make it alone?

  • lol i like the music transition, the classical music perfectly replicates the ambiance of an aquarium like this

  • This tank makes me truly speechless!!!

  • why are some yellow tangs have either white or black spots?

  • @Angelestrada1903

They are Tri-color tangs rather than yellow tangs hence the colour variation.

  • How beautiful!!

  • Wow. Isn't our planet beautiful? Thank you for sharing this vid.

  • been thru all the posts but nobody seems to know the second half of video guitar music, only the piano music 1st half (Gymnopedie 1), anyone any ideas of the guitar music?

  • DROP DEAD GORGEOUS! 16000 liters... thats how many gallons?........... your tank makes my 150 gallon look tiny!!!

  • probably the best tank to be seen by anyone,,,,,greatest work..great

  • What do you reackon are the running costs each month for that?!!!....Beautiful set-up!

  • Ainda existem pessoas que não acreditam em Deus!!!!!!!!

  • Shame on everyone whom disliked this spectacular tank! I dream of tanks likes this, and the utmost admiration for the man who made this. It is BEAUTIFUL!

  • I'd say with everything in there theres nothing less than !150,000 invested probably more

  • Is that all live coral?

  • @boardthrulife

Yes all live corals, most grown from small corals such as the large gorgonian at the front(looks like catstails)

  • awesome but I still think you have too many fishes in there.

  • @chris2586

Check out the 2009 video, much has changed including smaller shoaling fishes. David basically biased the coral stocks towards LPS and SPS in 2009 and changed the fish stocks to better represent those found swimming on shallow reef within the coral heads.

  • @chris2586 its not really overcrowded because the fish just come to the front of the tank because they think they are going to get food

  • how many years have you had the tank established? love the biodiversity in the tank! i wish i could frag some of your corals haha!

  • breath taking!

  • OMFG!!! wish i was ta owner...

  • Amazing what is the size of this tank

  • @prangel1132

    The main aquarium is an L shape measuring 120'' x 78'' x 60'' x 39'' x 60'' x 39'' x48''deep, total system volume of 16,000 L.

  • @stuartbertram very impressive,

  • @megafishtank1

Have a look at Stuarts tank as well as David's , its superb!!

  • @TonyatDD have a look at my reef tank and tell me what you think its 24foot long and holds 4000 lts

  • Comment removed

  • @prangel1132 meraviglioso perdersi in questo spettacolo

  • This is amazing. Need this in 1080 - thumbs up!

  • @erangaa21 There is a 720p version of this vid but i cant post a link due to a You tube post restriction, its under vids by Stuart Bertram .Also check out the 2009 vid.

    kind regards Tony

  • My reef tank look better than this one it's the barrier reef hahaha awesome tank. All those fishes need a lot of food. I bet he has a big back up generator. I will shit in my pant if the electricity go down.

  • Props man. I would definitely spend a good 20-30 minutes each day looking at that if it were mine just because it's so soothing.

  • I was wanting to know what the long swaying coral is in the middle? I really like the looks of them and am thinking about adding some.

  • @TheHendricks25

Hi, the coral at 2:10 that looks like cat tails is a caribbean photosynthetic gorgonian, possibly Plexaurella sp

  • SEPIA in a reef fish tank video equals epic fail.

  • i love your tank i have the new deepblue 57 rimless..

  • WOW!!! amazing....i hate my tank now :[

  • Wonderful Tank and what very unique one of a kind fish. I'd like to know what is this called in the middle 2:10 & at 3:52.

  • @kkeonnnn

Hi, the coral at 2:10 that looks like cat tails is a caribbean photosynthetic gorgonian, possibly Plexaurella sp

The invert is actually a worm living in a hard calcerous tube, the red feather like appendages are used to capture microscopic foods from the water, the worms are commonly known as coco worms (Protula bispiralis)

  • sweeeet

  • David, Truly amazing system. Too bad most public reef aquaria dont hold a candle to your system. Your collection of tangs is remarkable. do you keep many angels?

  • @sbreefer

Hi- David changed his stocking in 2009 , you can view the latest changes to emulate an sps reef crest with smaller shoaling fishes in his 2009 video on you tube. As far as im aware there are no Angles in there now probably due to their coral nipping habits.

  • Im so jealous atm cause my 135g Sw is doing really crappy..

  • #wow

  • What type of pair of fish is at 5:43? Wrasses I presume? Very nice...

  • what kind of lighting is used on the tank?!

  • @peacehopelovemusic There are four Giesemann Bilux lights which contain a 14,500 and 21,000 Kelvin 400 watt SE lamps in three of the units and one unit containing two 21,000 kelvin 400watt SE

    lamps,all lamps used are Geisemann

These are supplemented by 48 T5 tubes in Geisemann Matrix housings. The units run a mix of D-D Aquablue and Actinic plus tubes at a ratio of 6-2. There are thrity two 39 watt tubes and twelve 24 watt tubes within

    the set up.

  • Wow

  • I think the aquarium is not as large as to have as many fish...

  • @mikestat2007

Hi, You have to try and envisage just how large this aquarium actually is.

    The main aquarium is an L shape measuring 120'' x 78'' x 60'' x 39'' x 60'' x 39'' x48''deep, total system volume of 16,000 L.

Its a huge body of water and in many shots the fish have collected at one end of the L shape to feed. David changed his aquarium in 2009 to house more LPS and SPS including shoaling fishes so the stock has changed since this video anyway, check out the 2009 video.

  • @TonyatDD is not as large as to have as many fish...

  • @mikestat2007

I think we will have to agree to disagree on that as the aquarium is very very large and bordering on public aquaria size. The point is moot anyway now as the stocking has changed hence my reference to the 2009 video.

    regards Tony

  • One word : AMAZING :o

Great job, good choise of music and hobby,

    Erik

  • wow! great tank man

  • Thats not a fish tank thats a mini ocean!

  • rainbowreefcorals

  • BADASS

  • 26 people would rather have a gay little goldfish or tetra bowl than a tank like this.

  • greenandblueaquarium

  • Someday I will have grown a reef like this...... Wow

  • That without doubt is the best reef tank I have seen on here . How big is the tank
