  • It is called Grape-Nuts due to its resemblance to grape seeds, hence the name "nuts". I think they are great tasting, but they do hurt my teeth.

  • @blueberries4ever I heard it is also called "grape nuts" because when they baked the wheat and barley, it gave off a grape-like smell. The nuts part was because it had a nutty flavor.

  • After "natural food expert" Euell Gibbons, who became famous for his 1973-'75 Grape-Nuts commercials, died in December 1975, Will Rogers Jr. (son of the famous humorist and movie actor, who also hosted CBS' "GOOD MORNING!" in 1956, a short-lived challenge to NBC's "TODAY" show) was chosen to represent Grape-Nuts, which he did for several years. Incidentally, its produced much smaller than shown in the bowl [:24] these days...
