this video has been up for a few years now. i think the problem most people are having, is that they have only seen film versions of nunchucks being used. they've never seen someone actually try to hit another person in reality.
the fact is, nunchucks are a very light flail weapon. they're not so elegant and devastating as the movies would have you believe. nunchuck vs nunchuck isn't a realistic scenario either.
They should try this without helmets. Then this would be more dangerouse then MMA. shit. It would be more dangerouse then bull riding, MMA, Russian roulete, and base jumping combined!!!!

nunchuks arent useless at all...if u got the skills and dont hurt yourself you may easily choke and disarm ur opponent and by the way: nunchucks out of steel can easily break your arm and are a lot more confusing for your opponent than for example a baton or something...and way faster ;)

During the time after that other dangerous weapons were mixed into the crowd. Nunchucks were also used to block arial weapons such as kunai and shibi. During tournaments, wooden nunchucks are used with zinc chains. This allows the nunchucks for "safe" tournament fighting.

@dannykeat its not just wailing it. The technique is still there because you have the catch it/control it if it doesnt hit your opponent. But yes the weapon is very basic and has only a few ways to attack your opponent. Its still deadly though!
I like nunchuku as they can be as deadly as a sword but is legal as long you use it as a defensive weapon... Nunchuks are good COUNTER weapon not assault as they are pretty quick and can desarm any one in a flick!!

Why the HELL would you fight with Pro Chux?! You can get PLENTY of control with a long chain, it just takes practice. Physics dictates the longer the chain is, the more damage the weapon will do... So fighting with Pro Chux (which are easily broken btw), would be no better than slapping someone with a ribbon...
Have you ever noticed when nunchaku demonstrations take place they look all fluid but in combat it looks like a couple of crack addicts with sticks connected to a chain.... Just my F.Y.I.

this is ridiculous. Official nunchaku-do sparring or fighting doesnt involve just swinging for the fences and hope for the best. You need to complete 2 or 3 (depending on the touney) passes before you can even think about swinging. And why you would hold your chuks above you head is beyond me.

you know, maybe nunchucks just aren't the incredibly effective weapon that people think they are.
whenever i've seen even well trained people using chucks, they end up looking similar.

lol arent nunchucks meant to be one hit KO weapons anyway, ive got some and i think if i connected with someone theres a chance they might die. so doesnt wearing riot gear kind of defeat the object of nunchucks?

bullshit, u are right, nunchuks are not the most practical weapon, but wtf, we learn how to use it and it becomes an effective, brutal and artistically attractive weapon...
not all master's fights look like this letme tell you, and yeah, nunchuks are not the best weapons....but for a real user, are and will always be the weapon of choice ;)

@dannykeat its not just wailing it. The technique is still there because you have the catch it/control it if it doesnt hit your opponent. But yes the weapon is very basic and has only a few ways to attack your opponent. Its still deadly though!

I like nunchuku as they can be as deadly as a sword but is legal as long you use it as a defensive weapon... Nunchuks are good COUNTER weapon not assault as they are pretty quick and can desarm any one in a flick!!

Why the HELL would you fight with Pro Chux?! You can get PLENTY of control with a long chain, it just takes practice. Physics dictates the longer the chain is, the more damage the weapon will do... So fighting with Pro Chux (which are easily broken btw), would be no better than slapping someone with a ribbon...

They are not weapons designed to fight against the same weapon, as you can see its a shambles. They are best for lightening speed one hit knock outs. Its like have a one on one fight using syanide pills.

this is ridiculous. Official nunchaku-do sparring or fighting doesnt involve just swinging for the fences and hope for the best. You need to complete 2 or 3 (depending on the touney) passes before you can even think about swinging. And why you would hold your chuks above you head is beyond me.
