I love metal, but its a different animal. If metal reflects this kind of style then you can argue that pretty much every music genre reflects it as well.

Certainly bands like Pantera aren't very similar and I agree with what you say about every musical genre can be linked in that light. But a lot of metal is more similar to classical tunes than other types. Check out "Palms Read" by Protest the Hero if you're interested in my point.

@grumpybritishguy One important aspect is the ability to relax to this kind of music. Metal might have certain patterns and complexity, but its not as easy on the ear. I see your point, there are definitely some similarities, just not in metal overall. I mean you find a song from any band here and there that also have similar characteristics. I only disagree with when you say "METAL" overall having similarities in this style of music.
