I know it's confusing...I was really confused at first. I didn't even have to buy the entire game with this ending.

It's a very short game with a simple interpretation. It's about growing old and when the only direction you can go to is forward. It's the end and you can't turn around and just move backwards. Death is unavoidable. That is the metaphor.

As a graphic designer, I appreciate games perceived as art. I wish Roger Ebert could play/see this. Having said that, I think this game is terrible. The old lady lacks facial emotion. We see a close-up of her face to incite emotion, yet w/o expressions to study, the player's left confused.

The game has an old b&w filter with a graveyard backdrop, suggesting gloom, yet why is she smiling?

Also, paying $5 for an animation? It would be more poetic her dying at the END of the song, not beginning.

@muskra66 I think it's overpriced, the cost should be about 1 dollar, but the content of the game is actually very serious, it's simbolic of course, it's like poetry, literature in general. This games show's us that EVERYONE DIES, she "comes to go", like if she knew that it was her time, the song says basicly, that you clear the date, clear the name (of the tombstone) , and write yours, because your time has come, or will come, hard to sum it up in 500 letters, really deep meaning in my opinion

This game has already assumed a lot as you start: That you care about this woman.

Lots of games do this, it's a real problem.

In any media, you GROW to care about a character. This is far too short for that to happen naturally.

It's like Final Fantasy VII: If you cared about Aeris, when she died it could be upsetting. If you hadn't bothered with her, it wasn't a real loss.

It's a scene I've heard friends tell me they cried over. Honestly.

At the same time, if you didn't bother with her, if she wasn't in your team much, if a lot of the story didn't involve her, the death scene was meaningless and left you feeling cold.

there is no reason to compare this game to final fantasy. It's a 10 minute game about an old lady walking across the graveyard. where da fuck did you get the idea that you were supposed to care about her. It's supposed to make you feel something, but not devestated.

I used final fantasy as an EXAMPLE. I could use pleanty of other games if you'd like to actually talk about this properly.

And of course you're supposed to care about her, it's meant to get an emotional reaction. That can't happen if you don't give a shit.

And actually, as what I said was a response to the earlier comments, saying about how moving and deep this game was, you have to take what I said in that context.
