  • Ra never was goauls that is en series tv. in the movie ra is a alien diferent as the aliens asgard en sg-1

  • WOW! Thank you so much for such a great movie. I am going to boast a little...I was an extra on the set while they filmed all of the desert scenes just outside of Yuma, AZ and it was a lot of fun to be a part of this now iconic film...there was staggering heat to deal with but I had a wonderful time talking to James Spader and John Dehl in between takes! Roland is an amazing director and Iam so happy his career as grown big! Thank again!

  • Ra = Most Badass villain ever, better than any Goa'uld in the series.

  • Stargate is real underrated masterpiece with unique storyline, visual effects and acting. James Spader was perfect for this film - believable and really phenomenal acting. Kurt Russell, Viveca Lindfors, Alexis Cruz, Erick Avari and Mili Avital did a great job too. The 90's were really the Best era. Other underrated SCI-FI films of that era - Lawnmower Man, Alien 3, Virtuosity, Space Truckers, FutureSport, RoboCop 2, The Time Shifters, The Arrival, Mimic, Sphere

  • anyone else notice that Ra in his true form kinda resembles the asgard from the series?

  • because he took an asgard as host at one point, but due to the failing body of asgard he was forced to abanadon for a human host.

  • @01000001011100100111 What ever than GO DO YOUR REASEARCH. If you have nothing good to say don't bother.

  • @kullwarrior I've seen every episode of the franchise plus the movies many times over. There's nothing in there about Ra taking an Asgard host, it's just fan speculation. Oh, and that storyline was added to the trading card game too, but that was just some tacky merchandising MGM did, it isn't canon and it has nothing to do with any of the series.

  • @01000001011100100111 It doesn't matter. It makes sense. Plus MGM licensed the RPG that it was and had not denounced it as canon. While it doesn't have to be considered canon, I don't see why somebody wouldn't consider it canon.

  • @bradleyZD There is no single canon, there are multiple ones. Most people consider the series canon to be the main one, of which the RPG canon is not recognised. The producers have said many times than only the movies (partially) and the three series are considered canon by them, the novels and RPG are not. As far as the series is concerned, Ra was a Goa'uld in a Human host like any other.

  • @01000001011100100111 This makes the move work better with the series canon. I think I heard that MGM confirmed the RPG books to e canon anyway, since they don't contradict anything in the series.

  • @bradleyZD MGM have no say in the matter, it's purely a creative term. There is no one single canon, just a group of different ones. Dean Devlin and Ronald Emmerich don't consider the series to be part of their canon, for example, just like the series producers don't consider the RPG to be part of theirs.

  • @01000001011100100111 This explains a lot of the changes from the film to SG-1. You don't have to believe it but I do since it makes more sense.

  • good video

  • Awesome! Great! What else? ^^

Oh, I wouldn't have put the dissolvence like pages, but another effect... but this is NOT my video : )

Good choice also for the music, requiem for a dream really suit the video. I'm searching right now a good music to make a video on Stargate, so I watch your vid ^^

  • Really good!!! Greathathor you're really great! :-)

  • its so simple.

ra - is a goauld who took asgard for a host. But of cours in movie this "asgard" dont look like asgard from "sg-1".

  • Comment removed

  • It is very wonderful.

    The image and music fit.

    Thank you.

  • It is very wonderful. The image and music fit.

    Thank you.

  • mostlikly it was a rouge asguard that was on the run (turned 2 evile & so on) didnt whant to die and decided to becombe a warlord

  • Please someone tell me: in the original movie made in 1994 Ra appears to be a an alien something like an asgard, something like Roswell visitors, you know...but in the sg-1 series, the goa'uld race, the race of Ra is a symbiote, a larva. Someone who knows a theory about this, please explain to me.

  • Simply put, in the movie the alien that became part of Ra was the last (known) surviving member of an extinct humanoid species. He was dying, and as a last resort used an unorthodox method of possessing the body of another being, through some way of changing himself into energy and integrating with the host body's molecular structure.

The creators of the show spat on that, and changed Ra into one of many snake-like parasites.

Just think of the movie and series as two seperate continuities.

  • yes...good theory, but it only works with the first movie (1994). Sorry, but i can't just think about the original and series as separate continuities. You can't. it's simply a continuity and must not confront each other.

  • Well, you could be a bit right about that. Even though the creators of SG-1 seem to have no respect for the original vision of the SG universe and the continuity within the movie itself, the events within the film (at least somewhat) occurred in the SG-1 universe. But it must be known that SG-1 is not made by the film's creators and SG-1 does'nt fit with their vision of the SG universe.

So in SG-1 itself, the humanoid aspect of Ra has been removed, as it was never addressed in the show.

  • understood :)

  • well, maybe Ra hadn't a human host. human were not discovered by goa'uld until Ra. It is true that they used to have Unas hosts, but maybe some of the goa'uld tooke other races as well. Perhaps Ra posessed other type of hosts, and that type were weak, sick. An then he found the people of the Tau'ri. hehe! that's a theory. is it good?

  • Actually, according to the RPG, VladDracull is right. Ra apparently took an Asgard named Famrir as a host, but the asgard and Goa'uld biology rejected each other, and ra began looking fo r a new race for hosts. eventually, he found earth, and took over an egyptian teenager.

  • what is rpg? pls tell me

  • I'm talking about the Stargate SG-1 RPG made by Aldrec entertainment (unfortunately, its hard to find now since Aldrec lost their contract to continue it.)
