  • WONDERFUL !!!

  • who knows how Beethoven wanted that piece to be played ? All interpretations are only interpretations !Gould Kissin Barenboim Horowitz Kempff Perahia ....are all very good but Emil Gilels version is exactly what i want to hear!!!

  • La mejor version que he oido en mi vida de esta sonata. Gracias.Impresionante.

    Best version ever. Thank you.

  • This, along with Tamas Vasary's version, are the bests. They play it with their hearts and not their fingers

  • I don't know noting about piano music, but this is absolutely amazing. So heart-felt and intense, it really touches you, no, it pierces you.

  • @QueenOfDreamsXxX -

Thank you for this comment, Queen---

  • probably the best interpretation of this composition. Gilels plays it with such wonderful dynamic differences. brilliant performance

  • Completely explodes the myth of EG as "the lyricist." This guy defied every label and flew out of every pigeonhole. That's what artists do, and this one could no more be pinned down than could Beethoven himself. No matter what EG played, he found the unique channel to the very heart of the composition and the composer.

  • ladies and gentlemen.....THIS IS BEETHOVEN ! the best ever.....

  • So undeniably perfect. In the fast ascending arpeggios, you can HEAR every single note running up the piano... everything is crystal clear yet ever so blurry and confused... marvelous.

The angry, the raging, the furious tale Beethoven had written through the piano comes across ever so perfectly here.

  • I don't understand why people think Beethoven must be played without full force to avoid romanticism. We have vastly better dynamics now that can better suit Beethoven's rage, why not use them? If Beethoven, the revolutionary he was, knew that pianists were limiting their fortes and pianos to play in the 'Classical style', he would probably roll over in his grave.

  • watch the version of Mr. Bean, just hilarious.

  • я плачу слыша этот шедевр

  • just no comments...only "wow" ,well,it is awesome, JUST FANTASTIC, THANKS A LOT, MAESTRO !!!

  • This is exactly how I imagine this should be...scrambling and frantic, like the pianist's grasp on the melody is threatening to disintegrate at any moment.

The other versions are too polite and "affected" for me. caged and tamed and void of power.

  • @mistakenshyness

scrambling and frantic are the true words. my reference for this piece for the future

  • @mistakenshyness try glenn gould.

  • Fantastic!!!! Bravo Gilels!!!

  • Finally some true rage.

  • Perfect.

  • This is very good.

  • This live is even better than the recording...

  • the best interpretation i have ever heard!

  • take a deep breath while you can ^__^

    amazing

  • Finally I found my favourite interpretation of this wonderful piece. Thank you Emil. :)

  • Wonderful!

  • si, Tre`s bien.

  • One of my very favorite piano pieces. Bravo! Full of passion!

  • also I suggest you listen my playing. I'm not good pianist but I play not bad

  • Yeah u r Right, but u wanna listen to MORE passion? Listen to John Lill's version.

  • You are right! John Lill is a great Beethoven interpreter!

  • Wow... I didn't here about uniquel pianist like E. Gilels. He play very good but I like Horowitz.

  • Emil Gilels

    Superior Dynamics.

    Splendid (dramatic) interpretation!

  • Wow! I have heard many versions of this piece. but this is definitely the best of them all.

He has all the passion, which I imagine Beethoven must have had.

  • I agree. Many people play this piece too "beautifuly", & I feel Beethoven intended it to be as furious & heavy as this marvelous excecution by Gilels. He's truly a master at Beethoven pieces.

  • Захватывающая музыка и исполнение!

  • Это не захватывающе, это гениально. В наше время так легко раздают громкие эпитеты посредственности а подлинных гениев обходят молчанием

  • Estoy de acuerdo con laonirica. Pero además hay fuego, pasión y control. Realmente suena agitato, como deseaba Beethoven. Gilels demuestra aquí ser un maestro. ¡Bravo!

  • Brilliant.

  • Супер!!!

  • ¡¡¡Presición,rítmo y claridad, Impecable!!!Bravo Por Siempre Maestro Emil Gilels !!!- GRACIAS, EvaHartwig, por compartirlo desde YouTube!!!
