@QuickSkop3 if your going to look up videos on longboarding you might as well learn what your talking about because he is pumping to GET speed and carving is to LOSE speed or to control it.
@ryanhendrixproject Your one of those "cool" skaters that gets all the "cool" gear and worries more about what you look like..... rolling round on your shitty 400 dollar loaded board......but in reality you cant skate skate for shit right?
@ryanhendrixproject This guy aint a joke you fucking doucebag 13 year old. He is a legend. You claim to be a longboarder?????........you don't even know who this guy is and what he represents. You idiot. Fucking calling Chris Chaput a joke. Fuck off
Dude fyre trucks are nothing like originals. Originals are single spring torsion trucks while these are angular rotation design. Originals have a terrible baseplate design which bends and wears down over time and they also place all their weight on a couple pieces of plastic called a wavecam. Fyres Use two spherical bearings to support the weight. They come in several different pivot angles and hanger widths, and are cnc manufactured. Originals are poorly cast.
Originals suck....feel way too mechanical...If you want an insane turning radius with infinite rebound I would get Bennetts or Trackers and for freeride I would go with Indy's and for DH or anything else I would go with Paris, Randal, Bear etc.
Indy's are sex for freeride, Nice and low for easy sliding, turny as hell to whip those standups like a beast. Yet they are stable as shit (like most trucks if you have good technique). Seriously stability is a skill, You can stay stable on most shit if you know what your doing.
@chasedubbs Original trucks would be single spring loaded trucks that have a good, yet less durable construction than Fyre Trucks. These are also suitable for extreme downhill, and while if you're good enough you can ride original trucks as you can any trucks DH, it's not exactly recomended by the pros. Overall Original Trucks < Fyre Trucks
That is until you check the $400 price tag for a set of two....... ha
@frankisrad777 No, you cannot ride Originals "as you can any trucks DH". There's a reason that NOBODY, not ONE person takes Originals as fast as they take trucks like Randals or Indys.
@Fortune2point0 Do not quote me unless you are going to quote the entire part of the sentence, I said, "...and while if you're good enough you can ride original trucks as you can any trucks DH, it's not exactly recomended by the pros." That being said, you're telling me that not a single person in existence has EVER taken Originals as they would Randals? Perhaps not on a regular basis or up to record breaking speeds, but the Original team DH's on them. Btw, Indy's are shit for DH, too.
@frankisrad777 No, not a single person, EVER, has taken Originals up to speed like people do with other trucks. The Original team is shitty at DH, just look at their latest "Go Longboarding" video, most of them can't even corner with a somewhat decent technique.
Btw, no they're not. Indys are sick for DH, they have a very stable center point and turn very smoothly with the right bushing setup. They're not for everyone though.
@Fortune2point0 I'm sure there is SOMEONE has taken Originals 50mph+/- I'm not saying I ever would, or that I even like Originals, I hate them actually, all I'm saying is that SOMEONE has to have done it before, and yes you're right I misspoke, Indy's can be used and have a nice center point, they're quick to turn though and generally DH riders don't use them.
@frankisrad777 I'm sure that nobody has. And they aren't as popular as RKP trucks, but many people (including me) DH on Indys or other vertical kingpin trucks.
@Fortune2point0 Once again, I hate originals BUT it is ridiculous to think that. also, @mferran2 I've been 35 with original s10's, it was just a tow, but still.
@frankisrad777 It is not ridiculous to think that. If anyone had hit that kind of speed, someone, somewhere, would have heard about it, and Original would be bragging about it. Nobody DH's seriously (40MPH+) on Originals.
@Fortune2point0 It was on Original's FB page a while back that one of their team riders was hitting mid-high 40's (I think it was 46) on one of their boards. Of course nobody donhills "seriously" on Originals. That's what the specialized "downhill" trucks are for. But that doesn't make it impossible.
@crazjtk I didn't say it wasn't possible, I said that nobody does it. People hit those speeds even on trucks that aren't "specialized downhill" trucks (Paris, Indy, 50* Randal, etc.).
In response to your other comment, "that's like saying that a Loaded Bhangra is worthless compared to a Landyachtz Carbon Evo"
No, it isn't. It's like saying a 2x4 plank of wood is worthless compared to a Bhangra. Originals are shit, for anything. Want a surfy feel or insane carve? Bennets.
@Prop30001 Original's are not, as you call them, shit. they are simply a product designed for a different job. Originals are the best low speed truck I've ever ridden. they're just not as amazing at the 50 MPH bombs. that's like saying that a Loaded Bhangra is worthless compared to a Landyachtz Carbon Evo. Two totally different products, designed for two totally different purposes.
@crazjtk original trucks are made in china, they are fragile heavy and lower quality trucks, i would not recomend them to anyone in any situation...ever
@MrVigel So are Paris trucks, and they're considered a market standard. Using "made in china" as a negative puts a negative on nearly every truck out there. that's like saying that an aluminum truck is worthless.
Fragile: Unless you actively are SEEKING OUT to thrash your trucks, Originals hold up fine. A friend of mine rides his originals pretty hard ALL SUMMER, and he's not broken a truck in the 3 years he's had his Apex.
Heavy: yes, but not incredibly. a few ounces won't kill anybody.
@crazjtk that is why i do not buy paris trucks, and randalls are actually widely considered the standard among cast trucks, and they are built in the US. And originals are fragile, the wave cams need to be greased like every week, and they break all the time, bent locktabs are also a very comon problem. apart from those the trucks themselves are very fragile, my friend snapped his hanger right down the middle off of a one foot early grab (hes 160 pounds)
@MrVigel I have some Randals. Good trucks. I'm honestly not a major Paris proponent either, but they build their trucks well. The Wave Cams need a grease once in a while, but that's the only major maintenance. The locktabs are a common issue, but to my knowledge, it's not even a necessary part.
As to your friend, that sounds like an individual molding issue, not the norm.
@crazjtk Whatever man if you think they are good then thats fine, I don`t. I have had bad experiences with them and I try to stay away from them as much as possible and tell my friends to do the same, there are just way better trucks out there. But to each his own.
@crazjtk I dont know what kind of riding your friend does but my friends who used to ride originals have all broken them within a year, these guys ride pretty hard but they do not actively try to break their trucks. They now all ride bushing trucks which hold up just fine to their abuse. If you like the feel of original trucks thats fine man, but overall from past experience i have found that they are way lower quality then trucks such as randal paris bear etc...
@MrVigel Bad luck? I dunno, but sometimes I swear people just catch a bad set. The other thought: Original's only been around a few years. (8 i think. Don't quote me on it though) whereas most of the "big brands" like Bennet, Randal, Independant, and Seismic have been around a bit longer. As they go on, I'm sure Original will work to address those kind of issues. in the meantime, they replace 'em.
@crazjtk Very few good riders ride original trucks alot of real longboarders prefer bushing trucks. Most of the people that buy original trucks are the 12-16 year olds that think that because original makes good videos that their products are good. And then they get them and they arent very good so they dont do alot of crazy shit with them so they hold up just fine and they are very turny so they think that they are really good trucks and will defend them tooth and nail for some reason
@MrVigel See, I think Original makes good products because I've RIDDEN them. same with all of the people I know with Originals. A friend of mine bough one, loads of people rode and loved them, and bought their own. Are they good DH? Heck no. But that's what a quiver is for. No single board can do everything, So I build boards that do a couple things really well, not expect every board to do everything.
@crazjtk Nope.... still staying with what i said... they are still shit.... even at snow speeds, to be fair Iv only ridden them once ( at push around speed ) and they still felt like the worst trucks I have ever ridden.
@Prop30001 That could depend on the setup of the trucks. If you're a 200 pound guy running black springs, it'll feel pretty sloppy. you can have the exact same issue with a set of bushings. I've ridden bushing trucks that handled like a bus, and bushing trucks that ran almost as sharply as originals.
When I rode Originals the first time, they felt weirder than heck. then you get used to 'em, and they offer a really fun cruise.
@crazjtk Original trucks have 3 spring hardnesses. Outside of that there is no fine tuning which is lame. Then they have wave cams that wear out and need replacing which is lame.
"bushing" trucks have a slew of companies offering different duros, shapes, and rebound to fully customize the feel of the truck.
simply put, original trucks are garbage. They are a little more expensive than conventional cast trucks, have little customizabilty, and are high maintenance. Which is garbage.
@JmChadillonProduct Y'know, Ferraris are expensive, high maintenance, and minimally customizable too. doesn't make 'em garbage, now does it? Anyways, as for "high maintenance", it's a couple drops of grease every month, and a new wave cam every couple years. that comes out to a whopping 10 bucks every couple years.
@crazjtk Ferraris perform and ride well. Originals don't. I had Originals for about 3 months, I had to clean/regrease them about once every week/other week, and my cams broke on me twice, despite having the trucks sloppy loose.
Original's trucks are poorly designed, poorly made, poorly backed up, aren't versatile in the slightest, are heavier, less customizable, more fragile, and only marginally turnier than competing bushing trucks.
