  • It may be beautifull here but powell river sucks ass. I don't neccecarily hate it here, because its so small its nice and safe, but at the same time I do. Fuck powell river. I'm sitting here being pissed that the snow was allready melted the morning after the night it snowed.d

  • Marine not manson....sorry stonned.

  • Must have been fun standing on Manson that day. I remember watching the huge maples in our yard near Stark/Armour road just waving madly, and that dosent happen often to maples. Curious to see if anyone has the mega snowfall from 2000-2002 time frame. When we had like 4ft of snow for a few weeks.

  • mt trampoiline was a major victom that day. flew from the back yard over to thr frint and down the street. it has been out of commision ever since! :(

  • global warming??? welcome to the coast!!

  • heh we had on that was `120 km (apparently) last night, bc ferry got stuck in the middle of Hecate with my friend and her volly ball team on it

  • hey man,

thanks for the video! I really enjoyed watching it! I'm from the west coast as well and love winter storms......if you have the time you should make more this winter when the big storms begin to hit!!

  • I use to live in Powell River.. But I moved.. Which sucks ass.

  • What a beautiful area and lovely footage. It was a pity about the destructive force of the storm. But I love to see nature at work (but from a "safe" distance).

  • Thanks for stopping by and commenting. It is a beautiful area. We love it here. And, we love watching the winter storms, too, but not when they are as wild as that one was.

  • I remember that, It made it over the mountains and whipped things around her on the prairies. It is very rare for such a storm still cause damage after going over the rockies.

  • The prairies can have some wild storms once in a while. I can remember a few when I was kid growing up there. I miss seeing the thunder and lightning storms. We sure don't get twisters like the ones that happen out there every now and again, thankfully.

Out here it sure is different though with 50' to 100' trees swaying above you and wondering if they'll stay standing or drop on your house.

    Thanks for commenting.

  • Don't know if it's Global Warming,

I can clearly remember being out of power for a few days in Wildwood and the Chimney being blown off in a storm. November was always the time for those crazy winds from the North West to come rolling in, who didn't go down to Gibson's Beach and buck up drift wood after a storm like that? I can remember a log barge lost its load off Harwood and all the logs were piled up all over from Sliammon to the mill.

  • After a storm sure is a great time to bring in some firewood. Makes it a lot easier. Thanks for stopping by. Cheers

  • I really think a road needs to be built, the ferry system is a joke and a half when in times like this you wouldn't be able to go anywhere. I have loved ones in Powell River and it worries me sometimes.

Good video, we get high winds and stuff like that in Nanaimo on occasion, I remember the storm in November because we got it too.

  • Thanks for stopping by and commenting. Cheers.

  • when are they going to build a road to Squamish? the ferries are a joke this is why we need a road for emergencies!!!

  • Who knows. There is definitely pros and cons for both having and not having a road. One of the reasons that many people live here is because it is like living on an island. Sure, it is inconvenient some times but, it is great for keeping a lot of the big city problems out. One of the great things about this area is that when there is an emergency most people help one another. I'd rather be here than back in Vancouver or Toronto when an emergency hits. Cheers.

  • I live in Powell River and I can say that kind of weather is pretty common around here during the winter months. However, that particular storm was pretty impressive. Some houses actually lost their roofs when they were either sheared off by the winds or caved in by falling trees.

  • It sure can be stormy in the winter. This one was worse than normal. I was kept busy after the storm cleaning up and fixing storm damaged stuff. Thanks for commenting. Cheers

  • Nice video. My Grandma use to live in the Lang Bay area and I remember some pretty good storms. I miss going up there.

  • You should make the trip up again. It is still great place to visit. Thanks for commenting. Cheers

  • Wow! It's creepy to be there!! Even here its raining but not a storm... luckily.

By the way, cool editing!! ;)

    See you!

    Nic

  • It seems like we've been having a storm about every 2-3 weeks since September this year. I am looking forward to being in the sun on a sandy beach in a couple of weeks to get away for a while.

    Thanks for the comments.

    Cheers, Robin

  • I like the video. You guys have had your share of storms on the west coast. I think the fierce winds of last year in 2006 that damaged vancouver's stanley park was a rare event, and then this.. hehe

    cool! hit me up anytime.

  • Thanks for stopping by and leaving comments. Hopefully, this year will be calmer and warmer. It is getting ridiculous how many storms, wind and rain we've had this year.

  • Indeed - Reminds me of a guy in Halifax who had a BMW crushed by part of a tree that fell on it during Hurricane Juan. This past fall, he had his mercedes crushed by THE SAME TREE!!

  • Hi, Thanks for stopping by. That is funny about the tree. I bet he doesn't park under any trees anymore. LOL.

    Take care, Robin

  • Thanks for your comments re: my video to TMerman. Your storm video is amazing. Mess with the power of nature at your peril.

  • Thanks for checking in and commenting on my video. Much appreciated. Nature can be beautiful but don't let your guard down because it can change at a moments notice. Like you said, mess with the power of nature at your peril.

  • Thank you for your comment on my video, it was a really intense storm, none that I have ever experienced. But, the winds were peaking about 100-105mph for a few minutes them slowed down. It dumped like 2 inches of rain in the first hour then another half inch over the night, so there was some flooding to go along with all the other mess the wind left.

  • Thanks for stopping by my site and commenting. It is amazing what happens when that much rain and strong winds happen at one time. It can be very exciting to watch but it can also do a lot of damage.

  • Wow, hurricane force winds. We had that type of wind when all of the fires broke out in California back in October. One canyon in Ventura had a wind gust of 102mph! Me personally, I don't believe in global warming but Earth cycles. I like how you tell people to prepare, just as I gave the website for lightning safety. One can never be careful enough. Thanks for your comments on my video.

  • Whatever is causing this wild weather right now is sure making for some wild times for all of us up and down the west coast. Thanks for the comments and for stopping by. Cheers, Robin

  • I don't believe in global warming as well. I've always said that we are just going through a warm period which happens ever so often. Then, a few weeks ago I read this article by a Meteorologist who's been in Meteorology for over 50 years and extremely experienced saying the same that I've been saying, that global warming isn't real and that we are just going through a warm period.

  • wow, great footage!

  • Thanks for the comment and for dropping by. Cheers, Robin.

  • Thanks. It was an amazingly wild day with lots of damage all up and down the coast. Thanks for stopping in. Robin

  • Wow---sure looks windy!

    :O

  • Yeah, it was one wild day to say the least. Thanks for dropping by and commenting. :) Robin

  • Nice vibes,

storm is more and more frequently

because nature is worried against human's

    pollution.

    Good day to everybody

    Check out my page

  • I believe your right. We all need to do something, fast. Thanks for checking in. :-)

  • What no snow?! That is not a storm ... just kidding :-) Your choice of music makes it almost looks calm!!

  • Snow will be on the next video as we've had a little of everything this past month. Thanks for stopping by and commenting.

    Cheers, Robin

  • thankfully it was not like that in july it was just really hot lol scotty:0)

  • Exactly. Thanks for dropping by. :-)
