  • I'm so thankful I found you on You Tube....I've learned so much about rare doo wop music..it is more vast then I ever imagined...You are a talented man *smiles*

  • way bit high on a couple of those it seems.

  • What about 78rpm, "Hand Clapping" by Red Presock, worth.

  • that it takes two record, I believe. I've been looking for a copy for a long time and cant find it at all, it must be rare

  • im gonna be checkin my records when i get home :) i know i have some of these ill let u know

  • wow, I read about that stormy weather 45 in bixobal magazine, heard it was worth like $15000

  • Actually there won't be bluebirds over the white cliffs of Dover. We don't have bluebiords in the UK But look you guys just stop this bitchy stuff and listen to hese superb tracks!

  • That Five Sharps 45 is definitely a fake. There are no known surviving legitimate 45's of that one, although a few probably were pressed.

  • WOW!!!!!!!

  • how about first pressing of "ALTAR OF DREAMS",GINO AND THE DELLS?????

  • You look like a Happy Man holding up that 45!!! It must have been hard to find HUH?

  • @MrMaxxmo The 78 is worth alot more.

  • Around 1963, I purchased a 45, At my local record shop, "When You Dance" by The Turbans, Immediately when I played it on my phono, It was not what I expected , It wasn't the same recording, Even though the Group on the label was "The Turbans" It was an alternate version of the song, And, It was terrible. I wonder if you ever heard of this version? I still think I have it. It may be rare though.

  • @LDooWop Thanks A Bunch,Send Me A PM If You Find It,And Ill Give You My EMail

  • Thanks Joe, Nadine of the reminisents

  • fosman10470, maybe you can help. I think I have what I believe to be the master recording the song Cherry Pie, by Marvin & Johnny. It is the same diameter as a regular 45 rpm but is made of metal. There are two holes, one small as in a 78 rpm, and another hole off to the side the same diameter. it sounds exactly like the original, so I know it could not have been recorded via speaker to mike or dubbed in some way. You seem to be knowledgeable on this subject.

  • @rstory10063 Sounds Like An Acetate Pressing,I've Got Jackie Brenstons Much Later On A Metal Acetate

  • @chess1458 No it is not Acetate. Tapping on it results in a tin or metal sound. There is no label telling what or who, just a manufacture label.

  • I Asked This Question Over A Year Ago,And Still No One Has An Answer,What Is The Song That Starts Playing At 4:20 Seconds?,Anybody?,Mr.Fosman?

  • @chess1458I believe its 'Last year,this time"-I don`t know the group.

  • @thebigfist did you ever find out who did the song Last year this time?

  • @applepowermacdaddy Unfortunately I haven`t been able to get that answer for you.

  • joe aptly begins this video with a smooth hammond organ just like old d,j ''chuck richards out of baltimore stated his show, a man before his time who mixed light jazz and r@B WHO INTRODUCE A GROUP CALLED ''THE HARPTONES and hammond music by wild bill davis and bill buckner, who henry mancini caopied for his composition''mr.lucky

  • Mr.Fosman10470 -- Thank You!

  • thanks for the jams fosman...

  • What was that last song?

  • really a shame that my generation has pretty much zero interest in doo wop..

  • Im only 29....so i dont know much about the artist that made this music.......but i think this is wrong......why is this guy trying to to make some coin off his old 45s....I understand that this music is classic/awesome.....being from Philly..I was raised right....I met Jerry Blavat,Harvey Holiday,Butter,Hylit,Georgie Woods...etc etc..and none of these guys would push such a goofy price like this guy would......wtf...............

  • toe tappin music

  • I have some of these! Is there a specialty website I can sell them on? (Apart from ebay!) How can I value them? I have a few rare ones.

  • Comment removed

  • Damn! Really rare, Thanks for posting.

  • Its only worth what someone is willing to pay

  • the japanese and europeans are willing to pay a lot

  • Loved this!!!!!

  • I remember the first issue of the Osborne Record Price Guide showed Stormy Weather as the most valuable record then, 35 years ago, and I seem to recall it was $5000 then. What's a mint 78 worth now?

  • The record only came out as a 78 in 1954. The 45 he's holding up is a boot. Jubilee made 45s of their records when they knew they would sell.

  • originally RCA was going to color code the records to style of music - classical red (for example), country green, kiddies yellow, etc.

don't quote me on the specifics of the color scheme, but that was the notion

  • whats doowop song is this ?

    /watch?v=ORjKh_ZD0QM

please help us find this rare oldie :)

  • ciao from Italy

very good songs, very nice memories

    ciao

  • Jubilee 5104... The Holy grail of doo wop collectors. I have been looking for it since 1961

  • Impressions reminds me of skyliners

  • Blue and Green Vinyl...on Jubilee...have to be boot leg copies....

  • Almost everything he sells on ebay is a bootleg

  • This is a very serious charge. It needs to be

backed up with ebay auction numbers (5-6 at

    least) or taken down!!!

  • Could Not Read the titles...what were those on Jubilee...blue / green vinyl???

Didn't realize 50's tune were anything but black vinyl.

  • RCA Victor released 45's and EP's on colored vinyl. Among these, I have "Beautiful Ohio/Nola" by Al Goodman on blue vinyl and a Red Seal EP on red vinyl.

  • Good stuff, after my computer crashed a while back i never put back my 5,ooo+ song collection because i can hear anything i want on you tube,i decided to save the space.

  • A few were released under the label...they were not big hits in those days ...but today they sound like big hits...thanks a lot

  • Maybe you guys who think I'm being too hard on fosman should know that we like each other very much and have a lot of things in common.

    I love Do-Wop; I just don't like cheesey Do-Wop.

    Geez! Get a life!

All Do-Wop wasn't good any more than any song in any style was automatically good.

Fosman and I agree on something: ELO's "Telephone Line," which blended Do-Wop with great orchestral sounds.

Seriously, dudes and dudettes, Joe and I are the best of friends.....

  • To be completely blunt, I wouldn't give you two cents for most of these songs. They have earned their burials.

And, lest you think I know not of what I speak, I was born in 1938 and sure do remember the best of Do Wop. These don't cut it....

  • I think all these songs should be posted on the internet for FREE. 8 GRAND? how much of that money goes back to the orginal artists as a royality?

    BIG RIP OFF'S

  • All of it if not more

  • I love SOUL music forever,

  • Did The Blue Jays make two different versions of White Cliffs of Dover? Because the one on this video is the one I'm familiar with. There is another posting of the song by the group on the Checker that is way a different version than presented here.

  • Hi Filmstudy2,I remember a version by Lee Andrews and The Hearts, who were out of Philly. I didn't know this one. I'll look for the Checker version on YouTube.

  • Absolutely essential. I commend and respect you greatly for your excellent taste in music. Have you ever heard "When I'm with you" ? I do not know who sings it. "What makes my heart, turn upside down and my head goes spinning, round and round...

  • Have you ever heard "Window Lady" it is the flip side of a record recorded in the 50's I can't remember the record, if you find it please post it on my site thanks Nicholas Anthony

  • @nickyjukebox43 It was done by the Cadillacs but I don't know the other side.

  • @nickyjukebox43 Window Lady was done by the Cadillacs but I don't know the other side. You might want to get a list of Cadillacs songs.

  • @yardlet6 The flip side was "Down the Road" from 1955. It was on Josie 788. pinkfloyd59

  • @pinkfloyd59 Yeah I heard that on the radio. Bobby Jay's old oldie show on WWRL.

  • What's the name of the song that plays at 4;20Thanks!

  • My song "Wonderful Girl" is in the collectables, $200.00 on Amy Label

    Thanks

    Mark

  • did u find out the namr and group of the last track?

  • yes the answer is on the very first post, un-released and unknown group, thats frustrating, so chances of finding it are somewhere between 0 and don't make me laugh, even less in the UK. can we persuade him to put the whole song up.

  • This stuff is priceless!

  • nice collection of rare doo wop . thoses were the good old days. you should put all those records on cd or dvd so you don't were out the records. thank you for sharing with us your collection.

  • The Carribeans version is outstanding. Even better than the Satins. Great job!

  • come on men could you put this music in ares ,limewire emule w/e please ;P

  • lovelly

  • This is great, Thanks for posting up all these samples.

  • Rare doo woop Oldies possible do you have In The Still of the Night, if you do can you add the flip side Wonderful Girl here.

  • I have a few hundred 78's and 45s I play regularly;where can I find out what their worth?- Know of any good books on the subject. Most of them date c.1920-1955.

  • try e bay

  • Not eBay. You need to know what they're worth financially before you go putting them straight into auctions. I would see one of those chaps that work in a record or music shops, or even better, go to an antiques dealer.

  • excuse me.

i wrote the comment while watching.

  • where did you get the prices from?

    these are great.

    many thanks

  • whats the name of that last song and by who? anyone know

  • I dreamed Last night by the Impressions ? I'm guessing there are alot of groups called the Impressions. I thought it was The Impressions that Jerry Butler and Curtis mayfield were appart of one time

  • Are you trying to imply that these bootlegs are actually of those values? Nice try.

  • The Values are for Original First Pressings.

    Fosman

  • That looks like one of california reissue boots they were selling in the mid eighties for 2 bucks

  • The Values are for Original First Pressings.

    Fosman

  • I've heard that stormy weather by the five sharps is the most valuable rock and roll record there is.

  • There are a couple damaged 78's as well as a 78 acetate known to excist . The record was also pressed on 7inch 45RPM according to Jubilee Records but were likely melted for other Jubilee recordings as none of the original 45s have ever been found.

Find one and you've made history.

  • Thank you, Fosman. Now I have to crawl up into my attic to see if I have any of these.

    Doo Wop Lives!!!!!

  • ahh if your looking to sell contact me.

    Your welcome

    JP

  • REALLY GREAT!!! THANKS !!!

  • Thanks Fosman for keeping the sound alive, most of these I've never heard, keep up the good work....Bronx girl.

  • Hi What was the First Doo Wop song recorded? And, Year?

Thank you. Love the Great Music.

  • I recall learnning about the rarity of the Five Sharps, "Stormy Weather" from listenning to "The Alan Fredericks Show" in NYC, And, had the Night Train Album. With All Night Long. I still have lots of 45's in pretty good condition, Like on Apollo "The Fire Burns No More, Lil Anthony & The Chesters, And many more. Thanks for these great songs.

  • And Thank You for the kind words.

    Happy New Year

    Joe

  • There was a re-release on "Stormy Weather" By the Five Sharps on jubilee, Back about 1963, I should know, I have it.

    It was in limited quantities.

Also "Parkway" Records had a re-release updated recording Of "When You Dance" By The Turbans, It sounded awful. But, I haven't seen That version at all. Does anyone know about the 2 versions I'm mentioning? I'd appreciate it very much.

  • Sure it was a black label and a different group. the flip side was "Mammy Jammy" released in 1964 on Jubilee 5478

    Thanks for your post

    Joe

  • I read in the literature that came in the Rhino records Doo Wop box that no copies of Stormy Weather by The Five Sharps on 45 were known to exist yet I see you have one. That is pretty cool. I am way too young to have been around in those days and I am still learning about doo wop so I am very curious about this. Love love love this music.
