I never thought of the name as a general term - I didn't associate other travellers with Romani, apart from a nomadic lifestyle, which is pretty tenous. Is it really an English term? I don't know any country in the world, where Gypsies would be perceived as individuals stealing wallets. Everywhere, they are perceived as a plague that people want to get rid off as quickly as possible.

Individually, one is bound to have problems here and there, it happens all the time, and it happens within all races and nationalities. But, taken as a whole, I never see any reason that would validate being a racist. There are good and bad people in all sizes, shapes, colors, and religions. That is why racism does not, cannot, apply under any circumstances.

My family lived in the mountains of Italy out of reach of Italian government & Nazi's. My father was sent off to work at age 7. My Uncle not much older had been sent to work elsewhere. The Roma have always been blamed for crimes in the cities,pick pocket,etc. The impression I am given is that the Roma immigrants are new to Italy but are far from new at all.
I know most people hate gypsies, but I myself find the women really attractive... with their tan skin, black luciouse hair and dark eyes. Also, I find the street performers are very talented and they have never stolen from me whenever I have encountered them. I think it is shameful how others treat these people like dogs; but what can you do... the more you hate the more you miss out on life :)

Also, I find the street performers are very talented and they have never stolen from me whenever I have encountered them. @GamerXZ95 As for "Romania" or "Rumania", both forms are acceptable in English, with personal preference for the spelling RUmania, because I, and many others like me, do not believe you have any relationship to Romans, the Latin language, or Dacia, Thrace, or Illyria, as you FALSELY proclaim.
