@cgasucks Look man, we like tiger because he plays great golf, Because of who he is as a golfer; not for who he has or hasn't slept with or what he does on his personal time.....frankly it's none of our business for crying out loud!

Yeah. That would've held water if he, the Tour, and all his sponsors hadn't been trading off his image as role model and family man as well as his skill at competitive golf, which they certainly did--for hundreds of millions of dollars. As for "private," you can't become a billionaire as a sportsman and celebrity and then cry foul when people pay attention to a controversy that you not only brought on yourself but brought out in public, on a street in Orlando.

Besides, it's beyond naive to keep parroting this view anyway. Of _course_ it matters who they are and what they do. Aside from the fact that it always has mattered and always will matter in the game of golf specifically, even more generally it still matters. You'd never say what you said in a million years if Woods had been convicted of child molestation--and yet, the terms of your argument allow exactly that.
