now don't get me wrong Steven makes Aerosmith. Without him it wouldn't be Aerosmith, and this has to be one of their best songs, but it would be better with Joe. I'm not saying Jimmy isn't good but he can never hold a candle to Joe Perry. some might disagree and if you feel that way that's great for you but Joe will always be THE best guitarist for Aerosmith.

At the time he played in a band called Flame. I remember he was a very cool dude, always said hi. This was way before he was in Aero. circa '78. His girlfriend at the time was super hot! I think she was the singer in Flame. Just looking at him back then, you knew he was a rock star! Though this is Joe on the song, Jimmy is a great player.

Brad Whitford recorded his parts of THIS song then also departed the band while sessions for " Rock And A Hard Place " were being recorded so technically Whitford's on this one track and no other. Rick Dufay replaced him on record and tour.

@taypax Yeah. I bought this record and played it non-stop. Something about it just got to me. This song is as raunchy, dirty as they come. The riffs here equal or top anything the Stones have ever done. Wish the whole video was up and running. The opening is shaved by about 20 seconds here.

@Schueyjr - "Draw the Line", "Night in the Ruts" and "Rock and a Hard Place" are all underrated albums. They are definitely not perfect. But the energy and groove is still awesome. The overall songwriting could be alot better.. but songs like this.. No Surpize, Draw the Line, Kings and Queens and others should be on any given Greatest Hits record. I love it and really think the "all albums after Rocks" myth is wrong. I own all three albums and never regret buying them not even for a second.

@Exilemainstreet As do I, Crespo's Writing ability FAR Exceeded Joe's at the time, i Think that he is a Unfortunate man in some respects, he dug Aerosmith out from a whole that not many could, the Night Tour, 1980.. One of their best ever Live Performances.

@pghunters infact , yes they did , late 1968 joe , steven and tom met at a small barn in lake sunapee, 1970 they formed Aerosmith with Ray Tobano , he then left and Kraymer and Whitford came in too make the classic lineup of today.
Jimmy Crespo co-wrote all the songs on the Rock in a Hard Place album, which is actually a good album. They need to go back to their raw roots like this and farther back. This is essential Aero!! Would be awesome if they could record in analog again too without all that crap on their tracks, I do like the sax in their tunes though...
Now this is awesome, Crespo does just a good job playing & singing. Night in the ruts is such a very underrated and underappreciated record in aerosmith's history along with rock in a hard place. there are some great tunes on those records.
actually perry left in shortly after draw the line was recorded then brad whitford followed after this album was recorded and it was du to spilled milk and then they reformed in 1984 to record done with mirrows in 85

Such a great song.... I don't think I ever heard it on the radio. Even when they were having huge problems, they put out great records, including Right in the Nuts and Rock in a Hard Place, which also has great tunes.

you are correct - crespo played a few tracks on night in the ruts (the lamest ones), but the only aerosmith album that featured only crespo was rock in a hard place - actually not an awful album, relatively speaking, and crespo isn't a bad guitarist - but one thing that rock in a hard place demonstrates definitively is that aerosmith isn't aerosmith unless you see joe perry's nose hovering over a gibson les paul

@pghunters infact , yes they did , late 1968 joe , steven and tom met at a small barn in lake sunapee, 1970 they formed Aerosmith with Ray Tobano , he then left and Kraymer and Whitford came in too make the classic lineup of today.

Jimmy Crespo co-wrote all the songs on the Rock in a Hard Place album, which is actually a good album. They need to go back to their raw roots like this and farther back. This is essential Aero!! Would be awesome if they could record in analog again too without all that crap on their tracks, I do like the sax in their tunes though...

Now this is awesome, Crespo does just a good job playing & singing. Night in the ruts is such a very underrated and underappreciated record in aerosmith's history along with rock in a hard place. there are some great tunes on those records.

actually perry left in shortly after draw the line was recorded then brad whitford followed after this album was recorded and it was du to spilled milk and then they reformed in 1984 to record done with mirrows in 85

Such a great song.... I don't think I ever heard it on the radio. Even when they were having huge problems, they put out great records, including Right in the Nuts and Rock in a Hard Place, which also has great tunes.

you are correct - crespo played a few tracks on night in the ruts (the lamest ones), but the only aerosmith album that featured only crespo was rock in a hard place - actually not an awful album, relatively speaking, and crespo isn't a bad guitarist - but one thing that rock in a hard place demonstrates definitively is that aerosmith isn't aerosmith unless you see joe perry's nose hovering over a gibson les paul
