I love those two strokes. I've had a TZ-250 absolutely FLY by me on the outside of a sweeper turn on a track. Scared the you know what out of me. Love that sound.
Going from riding a honda VT-1000R to experiencing a real GP two stroke is quite a shock. But the TZ is much easier to ride fast. The VTR scares me now when I ride it fast.
1st gear on the TZ is like 3rd gear on a streetbike. Shifting you notice how widely spaced the gearing is. The dry "slipper" clutch is obviously used to augment getting on the pipe at low speeds, you can wring out 1st gear to 90 mph. Quite an eye opener. Very fun bikes two stokes are. No substitute anywhere.
The TZ-250 is in a class out of league with street bikes...no matter how much you mod the streetbike. The aluminum tank on my bike is about a pound, empty.
When you handle the bike on foot, it feels as light as a 250 motocross bike. Weight is the factor in this class. Coupled with the powerband of a two stroke, the intense accelleration, and then the ability to slow down faster and later than the heavier bikes, more than makes up for the horse power difference.
That is a perfect video to explain how smaller bikes can be competitive, or even faster on tracks. The Yammie was not nearly as fast, but could brake way later and corner faster due to light weight, while the R1 accelerated faster. That's why on some dirtbike tracks 125s actually post faster lap times than 250s. Try pairing a TZ750 against an R1 and see what happens! I would put my life savings on a competent rider on the 2 cycle beating the R1 with a similarly competent rider!
2T are the best engine to racing bikes. Fuck the emitions regulations. The newest 2T are cleanest than the older 2T . Why the worl insist in 4Turtle engines?
That proddy tz was on the r1's ass the entire lap. I'll bet a works tz would have beaten the R1. Even better, a vintage tz750 would have smoked the R1.
500 suter... Only 150000€... Who's going to buy it?
