I think addiction is not just about the substance. I think there are certain people that just happen to have personalities which are pre-disposed to addictive behavior. That explains why some people go off the deep end and destroy their lives, while others simply experiment and eventually move on.

Hey everyone, I too am an opiate addict. I was using IV heroin everyday for over 4 years. I got on suboxone at first without insurance and had to pay $7 per pill for 90 pills per month plus Dr. fees, which cost a lot per month just to stay clean. I've since gotten great insurance which allows me to get all my suboxone for free and I have a lot of extra suboxone scripts left over. I am willing to help anybody out who wants to get clean but doesn't have the funds to do it. Msg me, thanks..

I took a Tomato & placed it on the kitchen table. I called my kids n & gave them some goggles to put on & told them both to watch. After I said that, I told them, "this is what happens to your life if you PLAY, TRY or even get involved in using drugs". Then i took the wooden meat mallot & smashed that tomato on the cutting board really hard. The pieces flew everywhere of course landing all over the place. I made them clean it up & compared it to how thier lives would be IF they lived thru drugs.

If I didn't take it, I would have to stay in all the time and couldn't function. At least now, I can function albeit sometimes very tired and fuzzy. I have thought of going off, but the thought of detox it terrifying. I am a sw have seen detox from opiates. Also, only 1 med is out there which might help but is over 5k per month which ins does not pay and if it didn't work the detox would be for nothing! I will stick with this, knowing I'm dependent but not abusing. I empathize with other author.

continued...plus, they did not want to give me more mprphone so they now give me 32 mgs of dilaudid with the morphine and something called hydroxyzine which I am told makes it all work better, more effective. I saw a pain specialist and he felt that when balancing what my life would be without the opiates, it would be better to live with the dependence I now have, then live with the effects of the illness I have and if I had to choose, I would agree.

My Story: In my early 40's I was diagnosed with a rare intestinal disorder, that was brought on by the brain center that causes migraine head aches. During my chronic intestinal spasm/attacks I would vomit continuously for 15 to 18 hours. Doctor wanted me to go to ER everytime I had an attack so I did, and wound up admitted to hospital, and even ICU several times a year. Only treatment was morphine drip and IV fluids. After about a year I became Oxy dependant. Even though I NEVER use Oxy to get high it led to addiction. I'm stuck...

For the Love of God NEVER take Oxy, or any other opiates if you are healthy. They are no joke and WILL get you hooked! I don't understand why a healthy person would ever take Opiates, but admittedly their effect is overwhelmingly nice..

my story similar to yours. Had an intestinal problem that nothing worked on, or if it did, was for a short period like tinture of opium. Also was painful. docs put me on percocet for awhile until my Rx talked to doc because of the aspirin in percocet. They opted for morphine. At the beginning, I was high as a kite, now, 9 years later, I get tired, not stoned. Increased amount every year as tolerance grows so I am up to 800 mgs a day.

Of course there's risks attached to using heroin, but the tag line of this ad gives *totally* the wrong message about the relative risk of snorting... injecting drugs is far far more dangerous than snorting them, because there's much greater risk of overdose and risk of catching blood borne viruses such as hepatitis C.

All the gear i get is light brown....I have heard of people getting white heron but never come across any myself....i have tried smoking it but I found it never really did anything, & then after the 5th/6th smoke, it would just HIT me big time. Like I said before, I prefer to snort it whilst drinking....got it down to twice a week, which is alot better as I used to be doing it every 2 days. The next step is to get it down to once a week...

a word to the wise, avoid methadone, best thing is to reduce with the H, mathadone takes forever to get off unless u do a 2 week fast reduction then u dont get hooked on the methadone.

I used to IV it until I was poisoned; felt it burn up my arm, it got to my chest then the next thing I knew I was being slapped by ambulance crew and told to wake up!

@CatSquall what happens actually is that snorting doesn't get you high anymore, just unsick, and it's far more cost-effective to spike up...that's how it went for me and 99% of other IV users. you and the 6 ppl who upvoted you are the typical pot/psych people who don't like ads like this harshing vibes but realize that ppl like me all went through exactly the same phase and consider you hopeful rookies. good for you if you stay off hard shit but saying drug progression doesn't happen is insecure
