I agree, some people are amazed by the dumbest things. I guess it all depends on the individual and what they are looking for. Now you used the word "sophisticated" incorrectly. The word you were looking for is "feeble". I know this is probably the first time you use multi-syllable words, but don't get ahead of yourself. Now try to give Metal a try. I know the instrumental intricacies can seem intimidating, but ask an adult to hold you hand through it, until you can do it on your own.

if johan did more awesome solos then i think it would be better. But johan isn't as good as alexi laiho so he might not be able to do all the stuff alexi does. Personally i think johan is about as good as dave mustaine.

This became, in a period of 5 hours, one of my favorite - if not my favorite - band. Yes, competing against In Flames, At The Gates, Dark Tranquility, Opeth, and Kalmah, among other giants of melodeath. Great musicians.

Definately agree with Jesushobo, after you listen to enough of both genres they definately stand out between the two. melodic death metal tends to have definite different lyrical style/vocals then melodic black. death metal is usually more geared towards death obviously, and black more geared towards darker.. more spectral if you will :) lyrical touch. both are great in their own respect.

the death melodic : low bass very powerful, amazing solos(keyboards, guitars) like in progressive, original melody, guttural vocals, tempo fast or very fast, seems to be epic music, the quality of the sound is good or very good.

in black : Medium bass(not low), Medium drums(not low), there aren't solos or a few(keyboards guitars which just follow the group), guttural vocals, less original, tempo quickless or medium, the quality of the sound seems to be bad.

Death was the first Death Metal band, obviously. They were originally called Mantas, and released the album Death By Metal, in 1983, or 84 I forgot. Nonetheless, they are NOT hard rock. They were the original Death Metal band.
