Back then I would sometimes kick myself for going for the Spectrum +2 instead of the C64, but then I'm kind of glad I did, because it would have meant I missed out on true gems like this. Really immersive gameplay, I remember my sister would be on the edge of her seat watching me play this.
I think i remember reading they planned to cram this game into a 48k version, but it never emerged. It's a shame there weren't many dedicated 128k games like this.
@LoLzZ85 Epic game. I only had a 48k at the time and was disappointed that I couldn't play this. Got the +3 and everything was solved. Great atmosphere and very nerve-wracking.
Y'all remember the great escape as well? Same people for sure hey. I played great escape more than this, never could get my head round this one at the time.
Mmm. You do kind of run away from them, carrying the water and food with you as they cry "I'm thirsty, I'm hungry". And then they kind of lag behind until you never see them again.
The woman was mostly a linguist who would have helped you understand that foreign tongue. Running wasn't her speciality. You would have left David Attenborough in brambles.
It's actually Dirk who understands foreign languages. I got mixed up because because of Gloria's compact case. She was never going to make the olympics anyway. I sure the natives enjoyed their bramble broth.
I really think this is not only one of the best Spectrum games but also one of the best 8bit games of all time.
As far as spectrum games go this has to be up there with Carrier Command and Micronaut One as major technological achievements combined with excellent gameplay.
im still have the original....
but the machine die in 1996

I would usually leave Gloria behind, her constant moaning about holes in her tights and running out of mascara used to grind on me

I'm not responsible for the deaths of these people. If they want to wander into the clutches of a monster then that is their business.

Survival of the fittest. If only they had kept up with me they could have had a rest and some food on the other side of the river.

It is great fun. A great storyline and gameplay to match. The speccy had several good and bad games. Thankfully this is an excellent game.
