  • wait, so is bon iver a band or one guy?

  • @HannaMcKeogh A band :)

  • Oh god I just love him so much

  • Where is the performance of Skinny Love in the beginning from? Jesus Christ, I've never seen him so emotional. And that's saying something.

  • @BonIverSUCKS Until you create a record and enjoy heavy critical success from it, you can't speak about ANY artist being shit, especially Bon Iver. You don't deserve to breathe in the air that he does. I also pity you and hope you find a better life than living to just speak negativity about one man, who clearly doesn't care and neither do his fans. Furthermore, you don't seem to be getting anywhere from it. Good day to you.

  • I love Bon Iver

  • urh, I love. LOVE him.

  • @BonIverSUCKS you've no life, making an account devoting your disgust towards this man. Nothing better is coming from you. Troll your trolly trolling self under a goddamn bridge. No one wants such negativity in such a peaceful atmosphere.

I won't even spare pity for someone like you.

  • do you say his name, ''bon-ee-vure'' or, ''bon eye-vor''?

  • @JeanieHatesAli bone eevair. misspelling of the french words for "good winter"

  • I always wanted to just up and leave and go live in a cabin in the woods with nothing but my uke

  • No wonder he writes such beautiful music!

  • man i bet his old band and old girlfriend are kicking themselves in their ass!

  • he's very well spoken and an inspiration to introverted musicians across the world

  • emma must be kicking herself now

  • anybody else not expect his speaking voice to be so deep? Haha..

  • HAHAA this camerman is clearly drunk!

  • cameras/interviewer in his face talking about personal stuff looks like it makes him uncomfortable.

  • @HUBRadioPresents The reporter looks like he's a bit of a dick.

  • everyone would do good to spend some time by themselves, but he just happens to be a great musician as well. i suppose this bugs me because it's not a new concept by any means, yet now it's somewhat "trendy" or something. however you go about making a great record is just as valid and "artistic" as any other way.

  • I love Bon Iver.

  • Stop the cabin talk! You don't have to sell his music, it's amazing enough on it's own.

  • @YUMMYngbird to be fair, this interview is two years old. at the time it wasn't that well known a story.

  • Very inspiring.

  • Words dont explain How Much i loce justin vernon

  • he doesn't seem like too bad a guy to me...the interviewer, i mean. he's just obviously not plugged into this kind of music. cut him some slack.

  • Skinny Love :)

    Brill song

  • so i just got into bon iver i dont know many of his songs. what is the name of the first song he is playing right when the video starts?

  • skinny love

  • this guy is an inspiration to me

  • what a dickhead reporter. The darkside of being famous is the fucked media trying to get theirs.

  • as much as i love the album version of the song "for emma" (though i adore the myspace session version far more) i'd love to hear the original version justin had before the horms were added

  • What Polvowrong said...

  • Someone fire this Cameraman

  • I think it's supposed to seem edgy and cool. It's kind of how they record on shows like The Office and 24, but you're right it is just annoying for an interview.

  • What an amazing musician

  • Thoreau went into the woods and wrote walden. justin vernon went into the woods and wrote "for emma forever ago"... makes me wanna go spend some quality time at my grandparents cabin in Wisconsin.

  • What a dick the interviewer is,Ed Sullivan?com oot yet

  • I'm loving the background vinyl - Cat Power and In Rainbows. Justin's a fascinating character.

  • I tuned my guitar to his bastardised Open C to play Skinny Love, and now standard tuning just sounds... boring.

  • "My inability to get over this"

That's where The Wolves came from :P

Not letting go of a relationship when the other person did.

"What might have been lost" - Justin

    "Don't bother me" - Lover

He is a smart guy :)

  • I saw him when he played here, in Bloomington :)

  • Alshears its a normal guitar but its tuned in open C. Bit of a pain to do but its a cool song to play

  • does anybody know what kind of guitar is he playing? Because it is obviously not a regular acoustic one...and it sounds so good. Does anybody know?

  • I'm pretty sure hes playing a Resonator Guitar

  • Look at his interviews. There's an interview somewhere. He found it on ebay, and he bought it because it was old and fragile. So old and fragile is what you're lookin for ;)

  • he played the old ebay one (Kay brand) on the record. the guitar he uses to play "skinny love" is a National brand resonator guitar. And it's not exactly open C tuned, it's his own version of it, a bit off.

  • love his normality in this...think it really reflects the music in a way...simple, but with incredible unseen depth

  • I think its funny that the reporter has his sleeves rolled up and the top button undone, yet his shirt is tucked in. He tried to seem cool, precious.

  • that's the way us kids wear it these days, grandpa!!!!!!

  • Going with a small indie label gives you total freedom with no pressure. Big commercial labels are only interested in immediate success. Once thats over your ass is over and done with.

  • LOVE IT

  • The amazing Sparklehorse in North Carolina is forever creating music in a Log Cabin...far away place. He really is using this story to sell his record. So many artist flee to far away secluded places in order to create. Its nothing unusual.

What ever the story...what this guy has created is stunning.

  • When did this air? And was it in the US?

  • It's in New York City.

  • the interview isn't that bad. it's just typical media interviewing a guy they don't know much about.

  • Exactly. I don't know what these idiots are all screaming about "tool." The guy's just a singer. Do you expect the interviewer to grill him like he's Tim Russert or something?

  • Hey guy, Interviewer = Reporter. Interviewee = Bon Iver

  • I think I saw Cat Power's Jukebox on the shelf!!!

  • This interview should not have been done. The interviewer seems like a complete tool.

  • agreed, completely. this makes me feel uneasy.

  • i feel like the interviewer is trying to lure him back to his van or something

  • totally! what with the leaning and all...

  • where did this come from nightline?

  • Kinda tooley...

  • ur kinda tooley

  • saw these cats in Fargo a couple months ago...best show I've seen in a long time!

  • so them in Fargo a couple months back...one of the coolest shows I've seen in a long time!! Highly recommend checking them out if you have the opportunity.

  • Wisconsin is by far one of the best states in the country...travel all over to appreciate the state.

  • Ha - "Eau Claire" - what a name dropper....

  • ah i've been saying 'bon iver' for along time.

  • When this air?

  • i think it was just online. maybe not, but i didn't see it on tv so. who knows!
