  • easier way: one egg, one slice of white bread, oil and frying pan.

    Method:

Crack one eggy into a large bowl and stir it till it turns yellow

then dip the egg in and keep on turning the slice under and over till completely covered.

add a dip of oil to frying pan and put on low heat. Put the bread on the frying pan.

Keep checking if the other side has go a little brown then switch over. turn off heat and serve on plate. now ENJOY!

  • Mmm lovely Eggy Bread, haven't had this for years. None of your posh fancy names here either: it's so annoying when people go all la-dee-da and call it French Toast or whatever.

  • What is the temperature i set it to on my stove? High or Low?

  • did i hear maplestory at the beginning

  • thanks 4 this =), i've jst made sum and it was really nice =D! x

  • in the USA we call this "French-Toast"......we spread butter and maple syrup on it

  • You act as if its so hard to make eggy bread. my way - egg, bread, ketchup, YUM. :)

  • I just use 1 egg, wisk it. NO SALT OR PEPPER. Soak a piece of bread in it and fry it. Simples.

    With brown sauce obviously :/

  • Eggy Bread ftw... and it IS eggy bread, not 'french toast' you southan faggots

  • @thecuriouscritic I have lived in the northern USA all my life and we always called it French Toast

  • drum&bass and eggs for breakfast, nice:)

it sure made me hungry and motivated to make some

  • i will show you in a video how to crack an egg LOL its rocket science like.

  • I love French toast. I like to use cinnamon instead of black pepper and salt. Then eating it with some peanut butter and a mixture of strawberry syrup and maple syrup yum!

  • thats way to much milk!

pepper takes the taste of the egg away.. so theres no point..

  • i love eggy bread. i usually use eggs, suagr and a bit of milk... soooo yummy

  • Damn i love eggy bread.

  • Good teaching.Thanks.

  • Last time i checked, that's called french toast on regular bread instead of texas toast bread - not eggy bread.

  • @pooterosa The're the same thing. There are just two ways to call it. Eggy bread or the other way which the rest of the world refers to this dish.

  • haha the british call is eggy bread

  • lol i recon maplestory music xD

  • just watching this whilst tucking into some eggy bread! The best food in the world ever bar none!!! I like it with fruit sauce or ketchup

  • do u put sugar or butter in it?

  • I use 3 eggs with a little milk to make it runny.....it's lovely with a little garlic granules sprinkled into the mixture as well as the salt and black pepper!! The 3 egg mixture is enpugh for 4 slices x

  • isn't that a bit too much oil? :S

  • ahaha awesome UT music. great instructions too. thanks

  • @Twragg1 no you dont dumbass

  • lol unreal tournament 2004 music, class :D, and good recipe

  • That seems like too much? What do you do with the leftovers in the bowl?

  • make an omelette with it.

  • Or do another piece of eggy bread?

  • Excellent.

  • that was soooooooooo epic, the music just fineshed me off at the end, good i'm still shaking

  • tasty

  • just finished eating one of these :) gorgous. funnily the same recipe as i do :D there is many varietys :))

it actually tastes similar to pancakes if u add alot of milk so its sometimes nice to add sugar (i know abit funny but.. i just tried it and it was delicious :D)

  • What was the tune at the end?

  • Foregone Destruction (UT3 Remix).

    Unreal Tournament 3.

Rom Di Prisco and Jesper Kyd.

  • lmao ur a hip mum/grandma! using UT3 music :DDD awsome :P

do u play it? hah? :D

  • i only use egg ,oil and bread

  • we always called this 'gypsey bread' when i was growing up.. delicious !!

still cook it today... great with tomato ketchup..

  • thank you very much i have told all my friends abt out x x x x x

  • looks like french toast to me but whatever it is im sure it taste good lol

  • "Eggy bread" is another term for french toast :-)

I just cooked some of this about 10 minutes ago, so I felt inspired to see how other people cook it xD

  • also if you add cream it makes it taste so much better

  • i would love to have cream but it is a good idea to keep away from

  • its fine with brown bread and doesnt get soggy. And i make eggy bread but never need all the spices and salts just adding it for no reason

  • The reason is some folk like it with spices too. Taste is a personal thing. Just 'cos you prefer it one way doesn't mean there's no reason for others to try something different.

  • i made eggy bread by myself when i was 6.. n im 13 now..lol.. i did make a mess.. but oh well.. weelll donne :D subbed

  • Your eggy bread is weird i make mine with no salt no pepper n deffinately no chives but instead i use about 2 table spoons of sugar, it makes it the perfect breakfast :D and for people who are eating this for dinner WTF ive never seen it as a dinner dish only breakfast or snack maybe even lunch but no way dinner i find that very strange

  • some one is a mapler

  • Eggy bread is probably the more accurate description. French toast is often baked and served sweet with honey and stuff..

  • This is by far one of the most delicious meals I have eaten!

  • Jemeela, you have done it again, great little cookery tips, I would love to see more of your cookery ideas, please post some new videos, if I could request, I've been looking for a different way to prepare chicken..? Great lady!Love you.

  • I cooked this version of eggy bread yesterday for dinner, and it was perfect - I had it with some ketchup and tabasco dip - I luv it, I think it will be my 'atleast once a week dish'.... :-)

please, if possible, show us some more quick and nutritious recipes which are easy and quick to make on weekdays after work when you are so tired but also very hungry!...

I luv your recipes...thank you so much...

  • My mum used to make that when we were little, she used to add sugar and a little bit of cardamom powder instead of salt an pepper. We used to luv it. thanks for refreshing my memory. I will make this today. you are the best x

  • Thnaks just tried it out. They are really nice with sugar on top yummy

  • hmmm...i wanted to make some today but couldn't since i don't know how...now i do,thanks for the vid.

  • thanks :D:D

must dash - off to make eggy breadd

  • hello jeem jeem,..this is tasty eatin' here

  • The last time I cooked Eggy Bread was about 10 years ago. I wanted to make some yesterday, but couldn't for the life of me remember how, so thanks for that. I think I'll go do some now!

  • Also, it's usually made here as a sweet dish. Leaving out the pepper but adding sugar to the egg mixture. You can also add cinnamon or nutmeg to the batter, but the poor people who originally used this recipe to avoid wasting precious food had little of that.

Usually served with powdered sugar or syrup/molasses on top, but not bad topped with your favorite jam or fresh fruit either.

Great for breakfast. I'm goin make some.

  • You make it like we do. On the sweet side.

We sprinkle sugar on it while it is cooking in the pan also. Both sides of course.

The recipe also works well with a challah bread.

If you care to see my daughter and I making a baked ziti, stop by our channel and look for our video by that name, "Baked Ziti."

We think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

    Peace.

  • If you use sugar instead of pepper, that would be french toast if I am not mistaking.

  • You're right....that's what I said in my first comment:

"Around here it's called Pan Perdu (...French for "Lost Bread")which is why it also came to be called "French Toast"."

  • Haha I see. I wonder how this one tastes. I am used to french toasts, but never tried this one. Will try it one day.

  • Lemme know how it comes out. I think the French Toast variety is too good to mess with personally.

  • thats called FRENCH TOAST

  • yup thats what i call it :D

  • Around here it's called Pan Perdu (...French for "Lost Bread")which is why it also came to be called "French Toast".

It's called Pan Perdu or Lost Bread because you used stale bread that would otherwise not be eaten. The soaking in the egg mixture re-moistened and softened the bread so it is edible again.

  • Jemeela! I enjoyed your video on eggy bread. I just wanted to tell you, in Kentucky, we call this French Toast. It's great with maple syrup! M.H.

  • Yes,Quick & simple!

  • Looks very nice, I will try this tomorrow for breakfast. Muchas gracias & hasta pronto, Jemeela! Federico

  • Very yummy looking. Is that marmalade on the side? Thanks for sharing, Jemeela!

  • no it's pepper :)

  • Hooray, another awesome recipe from your mother. This is interesting, it's a sort of savory style of what we in the States call French Toast.

What ethnicity is your mother? I'm just curious, all the recipes posted are such interesting combinations.

  • great video...keep up the good work.

  • Looks delicious, why don't you have your own cooking show yet?!

  • very nice idea! thanks! However If you want an asian style eggy bread, i suggest you put in soy sauce instead of milk , i'm pretty sure it would be good!

  • Hey Now,

I have always called this French toast. Do u call it eggy bread because of the rivalry between England and France?

Very good how to video. Thank you.

    :-)

    Love Mushi

  • yummy, thanks for this one jemeela! after you say "whisk (egg-whisk)" i wonder for the first time, why this thing is called "schneebesen (snowbroom)" in german :)

go up with the good work, i allways love to do new things in the kitchen, i cook every day.

  • Very good!!!! :)

  • I'm gonna try it tomorrow morning for breakfast! ^^
