  • My gran dad gave me a Kay Bar That He had when he was in the marine back in WW2.and its still has excellent edge.

I see you guys chopping a log with a knife make my skin crawl.I guess if that was the only thing you had left.but If I'm going to go in to the wilderness I'm sure enough taking my axe. and by bow saw.I hate to use a 250 knife to chop wood with I'll save the knife job for skinning and trap making.

  • I LOVE the way the Tom Brown Tracker looks. But it does seem terribly impractical. I guess you just can't beat a basic, simple knife design.

  • awesome stuff man! thanks for these videos!

  • They all split firewood okay.

  • damn i really want a Busse knife, but they are so expensive + all the costs of overseas shipping and tax :(

  • A true test would be how long does each knife hold it's sharpness , after cutting through those wood

  • Not only giving a review but teaching people a thing or two, thumbs up :)

  • and if you would go on survival would you take a knife and a small axe or just the knife?

  • isnt it the best just to have the longest, strongest knife most of the time for survival?

  • It would be nice to know if these knives stay sharp after all this.

  • Well, given that I refuse to pay anything (much) over $120(US) for a primary "wood-blade", I would have to say that the USMC is the only knife, in this lineup, that presents a sensible modicum of value, function, ergos and weight.

... I also like the Becker BK-2, BK-9, Ontario Spec+ SP-8 and the Schrade SCHF9 ... I am also fairly excited about the Cold Steel GS49480 Rajah II as it is prolly the only folder that can fit a fanny pack or pants-pocket and process wood without early failure.

  • adam would you recommend the cold steel recon scout, or the rat7

  • so why does this even matter... to get thos perfectly cut logs that hes splitting you need an axe or a chainsaw. a normal person would still be using his axe to split these logs?

  • @rookieangel88 most people dont go hike with an axe. a pocket saw and any of these knives wold let u get to dry wood inside of wet wood. italso lets you see how strong the knife is.

  • with the knife im getting the pice im hitting with would split. (The knifes a sawback)

  • i noticed the knife with the leather sheath that you show in every video what is that knife?

  • i am very surprised to see the recon tanto's spine chipped, what steel is that one?

  • how much did the tom brown tracker t1 cost

  • I own a RECON its a tank ! NEVER let me down ! Great knife !

  • u should test the Gerber Ultimate survival knife im getting a lot of mixed reviews

  • ay i'm in south PA as well just more towards Newark and that area maybe we could go on a backpacking trip sometime. and you should try getting the USMC version of the Ka-Bar its made of there Special 1095 Cro-Van steel its 1095 infused with crhomium and vanadium hence the name

  • Where can I buy the fourth knife on the right?

  • rage i cant get a becker where i live now im gonna go for the esee 6

  • i'm glad to see coldteel being menctioned i have the master hunter(no gut hook) and paid $135 but it was razor sharp right out of the box because i shaved my hole arm with it to test the "on arival" expectation{ ps sorry bout spelling on text with bad phone}

  • Tom Brown Tracker, what a peace of movie related shit

  • did hitting the saw back of the tracker knife damage it at all ?

  • @gruntspy44 , no it's good to go.

    -Adam

  • @Equip2Endure do you ever feel like it may damage the saw?

  • people always say the tom brown is bad. But you are living proof that it is a quality survival knife.

  • glad you changed thr tune at the begging of the vid mate, as its nice to here something different from time to time.

love your reviews, keep up the good work, and take care.

    lee.

  • @d0wnto3arthshuffl3r go to cuttingedgeknives you can pick up a kabar fight for around $140. they are a very good dealer. gerber lmf2 is like $160 or so

  • @TheAustralianBloke kool thanx bro ;)

  • @d0wnto3arthshuffl3r Yeah, knife prices are crap in australia, same as everything else survival related. Do you know if its illegal to import knife from overseas?

  • @TheRATPT01 um im not quite sure ayee but i did import a flick knife from china once but idk have to check up on that buddy =]

  • @d0wnto3arthshuffl3r I am from Aus, and we go through shipito.com - they are a mail redirection service. We purchase out stuff from US and send it there, they box it all up (together if you have multiple items sent there) and their fees are very reasonable. You should check em out. $ is good at the moment, stuff's even cheaper.

  • @KittyZero0 GREAT =]

  • @d0wnto3arthshuffl3r il pm you some sites.

  • great job =] in australia those knives are double the price it really sucks cuz i was look ing at buying a ka-bar $200,gerberlmf2,$195..they cost heaps =[

  • great job! thanx alot!

  • Would using a small chipped-off piece of wood as a wedge work to keep the blade from getting pinched down on and binding up?

  • Ace! Quiet.

  • EASY work splitting with thoose blades, adam ,iv still to do my Review on my BK2,be done soon bro,ali

  • you should do one on the bear grylls ultimate knives when they come out

  • @richardspj1 , it's basically the LMF II, but I will give it a try when it comes out.

    - Adam

  • Windy out there! Where are you?

  • @adfgfds , South PA, near Gettysburg

    -Adam

  • @Equip2Endure Love the videos dude, Just got myself a Tom Brown Tracker. I live in CT but I go to school and Gettysburg College. Keep the vids coming. Take care

  • The Tom Brown Tracker is extremely underrated! It's a hefty knife, it's thick, I'm not a fan of the serrations on the spine, but it's a wicked slicer and splitter. Great video

  • @braxtonamour do you have one? I'm looking for another knife to play around with in the woods :P

  • The K-Bar style knife is that a copy or is it made by K-Bar? I couldnt tell from this video. I have a copy of the next Gen K-Bar made by Fury. Good vids.

  • @DownRange1776. Its a kabar

  • Great review and great dog (1:03)!! I believe that any katana style blade (Recon Tanto) is designed to have much softer steel on its back than on the edge. This gives it great slicing power as a combat blade, but will surely show some wear when you hit it to chop wood. This video has sold me on getting a Recon Scout!

  • I love my recon scout. :) <3

  • nice blades! except for the tracker knife :P

  • @Blaineeer , LOL.

    -Adam

  • The tom Brown looks a little gimmicky.

  • Thanks for sharing...got to love the Recon Scout!!

  • Yet another 5/5 man! Cool series so far. if you like the Recon Scout for batonning, you would love the Trailmaster. Also a little better chopper than the Recon, albeit at a bit of a weight penalty. Thanks!!

  • I will check that out, Thanks!

    - Adam

  • @Equip2Endure i skipped around in ur vid, and im not sure if u mentioned which one was best for combat/survival?

  • @gh4pwner if you are asking which knife is best for combat applications. That's not a topic that I cover most of the time. Knife fighting is a very complex subject and if you are in the position that requires you to be experienced in the arena of knife fighting, you most likely are going to be familiar with the that information already. I have seen several knife injuries in my life experiences and they are far from a pleasant memory.

  • great video

  • Thanks, for all the positive comments,

    - Adam

  • No problem, all your videos are great I havn't seen one that I didn't like.

  • You mentioned that the Tom Brown damaged your "baton" in the wood splitting test because of the saw teeth....a damaged hammer stick is a small price to pay for the utility of having a small saw/and wire cutting notch near the tip of the blade...which is something your other knives don't offer. Another thing, when chopping with the Tom Brown I find it works well when you center the larger chopping section for woodsplitting big pieces.

  • Pretty good review though so far...

  • Thanks, I appreciate the feedback; let me know if you have any other suggestions or other feedback, I really appreciate it.

    - Adam

  • Awesome Review!!!!

  • Super job.
