She probably sought shelter from the heat under the culvert, passed out, and with gators being opportunistic ambushers, the one that got her waited about 30 min. before it made it's move. She probably never knew it was there until it grabbed her. Autopsy report states she had drugs in her system so she might never have known until the gator pulled her into the water, if at all.
