See, even just carrying the Firedoom staff isn't a good idea. I don't think you can sell it, so  basically it servers no other purpose than to kill off your own parties.

pressing the "B" button activates the spellbook, btw

and if you want to create bolts with the "create ammo" spell you should put all your bows on the ground - the spell always creates the type of ammunition based on the type of range weapons mostly availabe in the party.

But it seems to prefer bows if there are equal amounts of bows and crossbows.

magic bows are stronger than crossbows anyway..

the reason you killed those stone harpies so easily is probably because Boydon has a normal (not magical) two handed sword. :P

Oddly enough I stretched and happened to sigh at the exact same time, length, and I do believe the same PITCH as you did when Flamey McFireball went at it.

Try "dispel field" rather than "great douse" for those flames next time. And you don't have to use "create food", you can just feed everyone with the everlasting goblet.

@Asarelah he doesn't have "dispel field" in his spellbook - and he won't get it until much later in the game. It's a plot spell..

Is there any strategy to the combat in this game? It just seems to be "cluster over monsters and swing wildly hoping dice rolls are in your favour" - is that about right?

The reason stone gargoyles seem easy for you is because of Boydon's two handed sword, which is non-magical. They take 0 damage from any and all magical weapons.

I don't think they made the Stone Gargoyles easier to kill, Kikoskia.

It's just that they don't take any damage from magical weapons, and Boydon seems to use a non-magical two-handed sword.
