@IAMNOTAHUMANINC These engines do not have problems with the head gaskets, they have a problem with the heads becoming unclamped due to head blot thread failure!
@IAMNOTAHUMANINC ok my bad i rechecked the weights..the LS1 is about 60 pounds lighter ready to run than the northstar..a fully dressed northstar is around 480 lbs..an ls1 with everything bolted on is about 420 lbs..but just the motor itself is about 360 vs the northstars over 400 lbs bare
@IAMNOTAHUMANINC why should it be lighter? pushrod engines are physically smaller and lighter than OHC motors..smaller displacement doesn't equate to a "smaller" motor..a fully dressed LS1 is almost 100 pounds lighter than a fully dressed northstar..look up the numbers if you don't believe me
cool concept, but it's such a physcally big and bulky engine, must have added soo much weight no? what made you choose this vs a smallblock pushrod engine?
@friesngravy there is not really anything big about a northstar v8 and i talked to a guy who did this and he said the northstar v8 weighs only a few hundred pounds more than the stock motor
@homelesspimps the cadillac engine is almost 100 pounds heavier than an LS1 and less powerful..the 2.8 is about 350 lbs. a fully dressed LS1 is about 390 lbs. a fully dressed northstar is about 480 lbs..that is a HUGE weight gain compared to an LS series motor. and almost 150 lbs is a huge difference in weight gain is pretty massive when you're talking in terms of percentage of added weight.
@friesngravy ya probably but im just saying this is wut this guy told me, idk if he was lying or not, he said he can spin the wheels pretty easy but idk cuz i dont know a whole lot about the 2.8L
@homelesspimps oh it's for sure, almost double the power with a northstar over a 2.8, so he's not lying..he just didn't inform you that it's like almost 50% heavier instead of like 10% heavier like an LS1 would be..and the ls1 is cheaper power..northstar is still much better than the 2.8 though there's no doubt about that dude
@friesngravy ya thats for sure, i have a 98 v6 camaro, and i want to put a northstar v8 in it, ya i know u think i should get an ls1 one but i just dont have that kind of money and plus i really like the northstar
@friesngravy idk, the one that i found is $700 and its out of a 98 deville that was T-boned and now hes just parting it out and it has like 98000 miles on it i think

@homelesspimps What are you smoking, A northstar in a Camaro? You need to put an LS series motor in it!

Throttle position sensor is off, your timing is off, and your MAF is probably off. Fix first, rev later. Not the other way.

The Northstar can mait up to the stock 5speed tranny ^^

@blsbrandon1 it won't fit the iron duke (isuzu?) 5 speed. which sucks.

With V8 Fiero you must have a lot of patience, and not give up. Lots of tests, trials and errors. But when you're done, you know it's your car.
