Just like i'm sure Grant Hill repected the 3 jumpers that Kobe hit in his face in the last minutes of Game 6 of the NBA WCF. I think when Grant Hill schools Kobe in a game that matters that well win him a championship or get close to it.....I think that's when his respect will come.........

@T82486 Umm yeah, Grant has had an injury that stopped him from reaching his potential, not to mention that he is 37-38 years old in this game where Kobe is 32. And Grant had a lot less talent on his team when he was in Detroit and he was still able to take them farther than Kobe did when Kobe didnt have Gasol or Shaq. Kobe had 4 All Stars last year in Artest, Odom, Gasol and himself with the highest payroll & experience winning with that team & they were the ONLY team SWEPT!

Actually Grant is now 39, but I concur fully, Kobe is the weight around the Lakers neck (see piss poor shot selection in the playoffs, 1-10 performance in the second half of game 4 vs Mavs) instead of the engine that makes it go. I would pay a practice dummy 30 million a year to play for me before Kobe "Team Cancer Shotjacker" Bryant.

@81broncoman @shermstyle23 are you all fccking serious? 1. grant hill is not better than kobe even if he didn't have injuries! injuries are part of the game! kobe has injuries! 2. kobe played with smush parker, kwame brown, bryan grant, chris mihm, etc when he didnt have shaq or gasol, so he didn't beat that suns team becuase he lacked even decent talent. 3. team not being considered, if kobe played in the east like grant hill, i'm sure he would've made it out the first round several times!

I am fucking serious, and here's why: in 2010 Kobe Bryant set the all-time record for the lowest field goal % ever recorded by a Finals "MVP" (He wasn't). In that finals he had 26 assists and 27 turnovers. He shot 40% (second worst of all Lakers starters except for Artest) and took more shots than any other two players, and only made TWO shots in the second half of the elimination game (clutch *snicker*). Last year (at 32) he had the MOST field goal attempts per minute in the NBA.

@81broncoman Bynum and Gasol aren't better than Marc Gasol nor Zach Randolph and the grizzlies have conley, mayo, gay, and defensive players. I doubt the grizzlies would beat the lakers with kobe, but without kobe and replace kobe with two good guards who shot 50%, the lakers would lose to the grizzlies!

@81broncoman also, ask yourself this, minus kobe from the lakers... are the lakers better than memphis, thunder, portland, dallas, spurs, nuggets, heat, boston, chicago, etc? (since you suggest kobe isn't the best player on the team, you should minus the second best player from all those teams and evaluate what i just asked you! or you can replace kobe with those 2 guards you recommend and then see which teams are better!)

Heres a fantastic career stat for the Shotjacker: In all of kobes games, the lakers have a 63% win rate. When he sits due to injury, apathy, or any combination of things, 64% win rate.

The analyst who said Kobe would be MVP if he lost was lying. He wasn't the MVP even though he won, Gasol recorded more win shares.

Kobe takes poor shots in critical possessions and turns the ball over. His 'intangibles' are negative, not positive, Locker room cancer and self-righteous attitude.

@81broncoman see those percentages are deceiving, those games that kobe sits, are games that they were probably going to win anyway! kobe hasn't really missed too many important games, so unlike Memphis this past year, the Lakers haven't had to go through an important stretch of games without kobe! and what did Pau do against Boston in games 3, 4, 5? he also played horribly defensively and late in those games they lose! Gasol is important to LA but not more important or valuable than kobe!

@81broncoman i'm not trying to argue with you or anything, but sometimes, i think people know what to expect from players like kobe, lebron, dwade, melo, dirk, etc so they try to say someone else on the team is more valuable to the team because, since you know those players for the most part (*cough* except lebron, lol) are going to show up always ready to play and give you the same production, the inconsistent players like a odom, bynum, gasol, chris bosh are more valuable! what do you think?

@81broncoman also, if kobe is a locker room cancer, how can you explain two championships and three finals appearances in a row? (are you implying that they would have went despite him?) Also, intangibles are definitely still positive even though he is getting up there in age! Still an okay defender, and kobe is still one of the best closers in the league, no one is perfect, but he is still the best in the last 5 minutes of any game!

Actually Kobe is one of the WORST closers in the league. The league average for clutch shooting is 31%, Kobe shoots 24%, but takes more clutch shots than anybody in the league so he has to make one once in a while. Last season, Kobe wasn't even the SECOND most valuable player on his team in producing wins, Pau was first and Lamar was second in total win shares and win shares per 48 minutes, but averaged twice the shots per minute of Pau, nearly four times lamar. Kobe = Ball Hog

Your right, they wouldn't just get out of the first round, if they traded Kobe for two good guards who could shoot 50% and would properly pass to their three INCREDIBLE big men, they would be champions every year. I'll find the footage where a lot of analyst said that! Also, if you replace kobe with two guards who shoot 50% from the field, you'd also have to give kobe equal supporting cast in return and i doubt the lakers would beat him!

I guarantee that! Stats only tell part of the story when defining a player, i'm not saying they aren't important, but sometimes you have to dig deeper! no kobe lakers are done! sometimes i wish kobe would get traded, just to prove a point to the haters!
