In order for such a terrifying conspiracy to continue , it´d have to be an upgraded version of a series of older conspiracies which were all focused on the use of monotheistic symbolism and composite deities which means deities that are mixes of many deities.
Provided they are in fact in contact with alien beings like many people would like to believe the alien beings themselves would most probably be overtly monotheistic , but their religion would depend on the number of suns in their worlds.
