That would be like R2-D2 without C-3PO....jk i don't mind Jackson is doing this he's like the Jesus figure of the LOTR universe, he brought the books to life and if he's bringing Legolas on this he doing it to consistent to his adpatations, and we all must remember that Tolkien wrote the LOTR trilogy after years after The Hobbit sucessful so hey lots of leg room.

I just finished reading the book, and I must say that although Legolas was not in it (when tolkien wrote the hobbit, he hadn't come up with legolas yet) there are duzens or more of opportunities for that character, and i seriously hope that PJ takes them all, because legolas is truly iconic. I mean, lets face it, most of the elves in modern fantasy literature are one way or another based on him!

@BookSwalower He isn't in the book. Tolkien invented his character when he was writing LOTR. Legolas' father is in the book, Mirkwood is in the book therefore Legolas in The Hobbit movie isn't against canon.
