    Dave.

    Thanks for the share Ed.

  • Thanks Dave and thanks to Ed for sending you over.

  • one left turn here & one right turn these & we trade places with those ol' boys. Cool tune, great performance.

  • These days the truth of that statement really hits home Dan. Thanks for the comment.

  • Lance as always, a great tune, with great insightful lyrics. This one needs a few replays. Don't wanna go too deep, but I must say that if a person is happy, thats the main thing, and sometimes a contract can become like a ball and chain, and I'm sure, with your blessings, you know that! Peace...Reg

  • Reg - thanks for the comment. I figure if you are happy you look back on your life and see the hardship in it as what it took to get you to the point in your life of being happy. If you're miserable, you look back on your life with resentment... so, be happy. Life's too short. Fortunately, if I want to write a song about misery I have to project into someone else's life. I am too fortunate.I am blessed with good friends, good times, good health and above all a loving wife and soulmate.

  • An artist (as in poet, painter, musician, etc.) will always be an artist, regardless of life's circumstances. But it would make it a heck of a lot easier for them if circumstances were kind (and people more generous!) Very good song. 5*****

  • You're right... except it is my feeling that a true artist doesn't quit. That's the difference. You gotta stick with it... no matter what. The number of people who get an art education and don't continue producing after they get out of school is staggering. If doctors did the same there would be a congressional investigation. Thanks for the insightful comment. Cheers. :o)

  • Hey Lance,..fine guitar there

    ...and Blue

  • That's my baby. 1946 Gibson L-7... thanks Ross.

  • Genius tune as far as I am concerned....Faved...wonderful performance Lance....Is that a resonator behind you?Captures the broken down street dudes plight marvelously....also kinda reminds me of a Knopfler tune...

  • Any reference to Mark Knopfler is high praise in my book. Thanks so much. Yep, it's a resonator. May post something from the same night playing that. A friend in Scotland is working on putting some electric slide along with my slide on the resonator. Interested to see the result.

  • good tune- waking up at 40-50,same bars same girls and having the insight to say I am a poet and no ones going to dig this till I`m dead..and being comfortable with the descision-your character sounds like he or she is on the breary eyed cusp of seeing themselves as they really are-great tune Lance...*****

  • Seeing oneself as a poet, artist, musician, song writer and being comfortable with that decision. You nailed it Brother. It took a lot of years of feeling unworthy of any of these titles before I could get to "comfortable". Now, a good bit older, I am finding not "Brothers in Arms" but "Brothers in Arts" like yourself who have come by the title the hard way. Wisdom gleaned from the road of life. And here we are my friend, always in some sense on the bleary-eyed cusp. Well said. Thank you Sir.

  • Hey fine liive performance and cool original mon Ami!;-) Good bluesy feeling..

  • Thank you Bou. You know the blues when you hear them because you play them so well. Cheers!

  • Hi Lance

Always the entertainer and lover of life. Great stuff my friend.

  • Turns out I cancelled that engagement. Finances didn't work out well enough to pay for the extra days on the road. Still going to the wedding however. Enjoy Missouri Brian... you're not missing anything. It will happen when it is meant to happen :o)

  • Superb song and performance Lance! Most enjoyed! Straight to my fav's Sir!

  • Thanks Ed.... and a special thanks for sharing this with your friends list. Very cool supportive thing to do. Smiles on this end. :o) :o) :o)

    Rocket

  • Thanks for dropping by Rocket. Understand you had a birthday. Hope it was a very happy one. Ciao!

  • Hi Lance I was listening to Leonard Cohen's new live Album featuring great musicians like Roscoe Beck, Neil Larson and more, there's a resemblance,no doubt about it, his voice goes lower though, good lyrics, greets Vic.

  • Back home safe and sound Victor? I hope Spain was rewarding in many ways. Thanks so much mentioning... of course there is and will always be only one Leonard Cohen. I may have a little cocktail jazz gig in the works with my string bass player and horn player. I'm studying hard hoping to land it. Will send you some improv efforts for your comments some time soon. Need all the help I can get. Thanks for being in my world. Ciao!

  • just so entertaining, Lance: Merci beaucoup!!

    J. Austin ♫ Bear

  • Thanks so much my friend. Made me feel good with that one. :o)

  • I think you aptly covered the sense of resentment, despair and resignation, or was I not listening?

    Thanks for sharing, Lance!

  • Yep Marc... you were listening. Thanks for dropping by. :o)

  • Hi Lance ! beautiful performance . Will you go on stage

in germany as well ? I hope we can meet each other

when you come. Greets , Elie

  • Elie - The way things are shaping up I'll probably be around the Frankfurt area for a couple of days early in the trip and then maybe a couple at the end. We want to get out to some other places and Debra is leaning toward Istanbul and Barcelona. I'm not performing (unless you have some ideas) 'o) But I would certainly like to meet up with you and some other friends I have made in Germany through youtube. I'm seeing if our cousin (who is also a musician) can arrange a jam. I'll keep you posted.

  • Very cool, Lance and Dan! In this kinda songs your voice is perfect!

    Best wishes, Frank

  • Thanks so much Frank. My buddy Dan is such a lyrical bass player. And a terrific songwriter in his own right. Check out his mid-life crisis blues on my site. I'll send it to you. Cheers and thanks for dropping by. :o)

  • Great Lance. You are a unique composer. I just learned something by watching your right hand. The percussive attack on the strings adds much to the sound even though it is subtle. Very nice playing. I think you can add Poet to your quiver of talents.

    Cheers,

    allen

  • Thanks Allen - As long as that poet isn't broken down I'll be happy with the moniker. Will try to send you some of my single line soloing stuff pretty soon. Love to get your feedback. Regarding the right hand, have always done that. I think being able to play good rhythm is important and often neglected by smoking lead players. TE does both masterfully.

  • Fabulous live performance...just love the song and you guys sound awesome! Always a treat to hear your music! Suze

  • Suze - You are so kind. Glad you are so nice to drop by all the time. Thanks.
