@ImNotThere100 Yes, and it was a brilliant OD because their costumes didn't get in the way of the music. (Does anyone remember what music the Russians skated to in their OD?) V&M did their flamenco interpretation beautifully. Technically, though, I think Davis and White were just a notch better in their OD this past season. Both are great dances. I don't think I made my point very well before.

the dismount of the lift at 3:23 is defintely more graceful than the one they did at the Olympics.. I really wish they would have done this exit instead...

@charmpochacco It's true that this exit is more spectacular, but they wasn't sure if it was legal to do it. So, they decided to take no risk.

They weren't allowed to that exit - it was beautiful, I agree - because the judges said it was illegal.

Oddly enough, the judges did not ban the dismount they did at the Olympics, which looks easier but is quite dangerous, with Tessa tipping over Scott's shoulder into his arms. That is dangerous because her landing into his arms is blind. I liked both, but I'm with you - it was really great, especially when she landed on one foot.

Scott can deny it till the cows come home, he can deny it to himself, he can shout it from the rooftops, but he can't deny the feelings and love that come through for his "Beautiful Tessa". And, there is NO DOUBT that he'll have competition now, competition he's never had before! I think he must know that as of the Gold Medal skate. I sure don't think he's stupid. LOL.

In FS, the best way to see how fast skaters are is to watch the speed at which the boards go by.

V/M are pretty fast. Maybe not the same speed as D/W, but still fast.

LWOPP, I totally agree with you. They are the only couple who've come close to T&D, imho. I love other ice dance teams, of course, but these two are v v special.

V&M have put 'dance' back in ice dance. Tessa's ballet training is such an asset. She never hits an ugly position. They match each other so well. The grace, elegance, emotion, artistry, charisma, joy for the sport and technical ability set them apart .

Having been a devoted follower of skating for over 40 years, whether or not this FD wins gold Medal in Vancouver, it may well be remembered years from now as being almost in a class with "Bolero." V&M have taken ice dance back to its roots. I can't see them in martial uniforms, bullfighter and flamenco or weird space cadet costumes. And, she is incapable of doing a lift that isn't totally elegant. They are a treasure and so young I hope they will be enthralling us for years to come.

The Russians & The French team will not have a chance at the Gold medal in Vancouver since they are barely seen this season & coming back for 1 competition in the Olympics will not bode well for them, no way they can give them an Olympic Gold based on one skate in Vancouver since they have not had time to train & prepare all season just like the French team of D&S.

Sorry the Gold is between V&M & D&W but I see it going to V&M.

First, Olympic gold medal is not the reward for a good career or the prize that one gets for participating at a ton of events, it´s earned by the best at that particular competition and I believe you agree with me that otherwise it would be unfair. Secondly, judges are willing to see a Euro team on the top of the podium one more time and both D/S are very worthy of that. In fact they are the only two teams with a World gold, a Euro gold and a GPF gold each one.

I know Tessa and Scott are not Quebecois, but are they French-Canadian? Their last names sound French to me.

P.S.: My ideal dance podium in Vancouver would include (in no particular order) Virtue and Moir, Davis and White, Kerr and Kerr, and Belbin and Agosto (one pair would have to tie for Bronze- HA HA). I haven't seen the Russian's program yet, so I cannot comment on them.

It makes it look like she has this big but and a belly. İts cuts are not well done. The skirt is like a ballon on the hips. she has this great hour glass belly but it made it look like its all straight.

That's the first thing I thought when I saw them on the ice!

But I've had a chance to look at both performances now and I've reconsidered. On its own this dress isn't as lovely as the other one. On Tessa though, I think it suits better. I can't think why. Maybe her hair needs to be done differently for the other one, or she needs to be a couple of years older.

I'm curious as to what the Russian commentator is saying and what he thinks about the program, especially since we haven't seen Domnina and Shabalin this season. Of course most commentators always praise the skaters from their own country but sometimes the Russians like the teams/skaters that are coached by Russians and credit their success to this.

Beautiful program, music, costumes, everything. I'm still not sure if I like the lift at 3:15, it seems almost impossible to do it smoothly but it is growing on me more and more every time I see it. The lift at 4:00 is absolutely gorgeous though, it's my favorite moment in the program for sure. As for the costumes, I think the simplicity of them works for this program, kinda like T/D's Bolero costumes, even though I'm not a big fan of Tessa's skirt in this one

That was a commanding performance. Although it's a difficult program to perform, you'd think otherwise based on the ease and fluidity of this program. They've made their claim for the Olympic gold medal. Just wonderful!

I kind of wish they had a little more colour in their costumes though - last year I think their program was great but they really suffered from going with all black, which didn't match the psychedelic music at all - the crazy tyedye from earlier in the season was better.

They've changed that 1st lift too, looks a lot more dangerous

Hi Jamarsano, Maybe she did switch back to an older pair but it would look better if the boots were polished white. They spend so much money on their dresses so their boots should look their best. It would be like wearing old sneakers [sport shoes] with an evening gown. I remember nancy kerrigan saying something like this once.

People have been saying that she nearly fell (twice) in the original dance because of her heavy skirt.

I actually gained the impression that her skates were giving her problems. Skates take forever to break in, especially for ice-dancers who shave away the insides for a deeper edge. You will remember that Yagudin in Nice wore a pair of skates that were glued together rather than use new ones.

Perhaps she switched back to old ones?

no. The first ona was beacuse of the extended lift and the other one was because of the ear ring. That doesn't mean that she has to change the top of it. THAT DRESS TOP WAS EXCUİSİTE. she could change the skirt part with this one only .that would be great.
