I have nothing against the film itself, and maybe this is becoming a bigger deal than it is worth. I guess if you could appreciate the hard work, and struggle it has been for PAs over the last 30 years or so to make a name for themselves, and get the respect and recognition the field deserves, you may have thought twice about making such a film.
I guess a question I have, like someone has asked, is why PAs? Im just curious. Thanks!
I don't have anything against the profession at all. In fact, PAs I know are more open to complimentary/alternative medicine (of which I approve) and are less prescription-happy than most physicians. I was combining and lampooning things I believe in (like PAs and 5-Element acupuncture) and things I don't, like applied kinesiology. I would sincerely hope that no one (PA or prospective patient) would come to YouTube, particularly my comedy series, for serious medical information.

OK, let me restate what I said. What I meant by that is not necessarily the people who are looking to be a PA. More or less the people who will see this video who may be potential patients to PAs. Again, it does not take much to convince somebody that someone is incompitent, it takes more to get them to believe they are compitent, especially after seeing something like this. I feel that you fail to see the potential harm, and slander that is within this video.
That's not the point I was trying to make. And how exactly does it make you fear for the 'field' if someone were to take the opinions in this video, and start to think that PA's are incompitent? Also, I am getting the sense that you took my comment as an attack on you personally. Let me clarify: I was simply warning people that the opinions of this film are just that, and that they should not take what is said in this clip seriously. Did you intend for it to be serious? No? Then there is no prob
What makes me "fear for the field" is that if current or potential P.A.s need your warning to recognize this video as a farce, then you all suffer from a frightening lack of discernment
If you are going to watch this video, please, please take nothing this video says seriously... in fact just about everything they say in this video is false. The people who made this video clearly show they know absolutely nothing about the Physician Assistant field, and what it is they do. But eh, thats the internet, anyone can put up anything they want.
I think you have to have a very evolved sense of humor to be able to appreciate this short film. Unfortunately, the new age techniques represented in this film are not associated with the PA's practice, so the whole joke falls flat. "I'm going to give you such a slap" was pretty funny though.
Excellent critique. Really, it's very, very good. I think you've really put me and everyone like me in our places. The points you've made are so astute that it shivers me timbers. It quivers me flippers. I'm reeling. I'm peeing.
None of the comments here seem to be criticizing your lampooning of new age types. On the contrary, we are pointing out that the *title* of your piece does not make your target clear. Many casual web surfers will only see the words "physician's assistant" in the title, and mistakenly assume that PAs are somehow linked to pseudoscientific flakes.
This reminds me of days when whites imitate blacks in movies. it is sicken. Please don't make fun of our profession especially when we are just beginning to be nationally recognize.
OK, we will NEVER make light of physician's assistants/slash/physician assistants from here on in. See? It's in writing. In fact, I promise I'll try to go to one soon to have this thingy on my neck lanced.
The authors/actors (i.e. M. Leclair and R. Gordon) in this moronic piece of work obviously know nothing about the PA profession. rg3001 (aka Robert Gordon), if you are trying to clown on "new age bodywork practitioners" you should rename your little skit here and get your information straight. Disrespecting a profession that you know nothing about shows you have less intelligence than the so-called ignorant folks you're trying to make fun of...though, that is apparent for all to see.
omg...this is absolutely hilarious!!

kuhmpashun,
Oh my God. If somebody looks at our video for factual information about being a Physician Assistant, I really fear for the field!
