If there was a nation wide shutdown of big rigs we would be totally fucked!!!!!!! Imagine what food stores would look like. A scene like WalMart on Black Friday, before the holidays!!!!!!
Not one of these trucker groups has done anything that has helped any O/O either survive, or become more profitable. Instead of looking for the government for help, learn how to help yourselves. I want LESS government in my business, not more. I'll bet you that hardly any of these drivers who are hurting can tell you their costs, or their revenue per mile for the past month. Learn how to run your business, and you'll be just fine.
On the recent trip to Israel and Saudi Arabia, this is the take from the Arab point of view on Bush:
"In an open letter to the US President, the Dubai Gulf News wrote, "we realize containing Iran, selling more weapons and securing more oil supplies are the main issues on your mind as your tour the region..."
As for the promise of democracy and human rights, your dreadful record on both, gives you no moral right to lecture others." Even the State-controlled Saudi media was critical of President Bush. Just after the US and Saudi Arabia agreed to a multi-Billion dollar weapons deal, the Arab news quoted the Saudi foreign minister rejecting Bush's position on Iran, stating - "This is not the time for any provocation in the region."
When you can't raise taxes to pay for a war, you print dollars and make people pay with the tax of inflation.
Corporate media, however, is trying to find every other excuse for the inflation to hide that fact from you.
Inflation IS a tax of the worse kind, because it not only strips away a big chunk of your earnings--it destroys any savings and retirement funds you have.
It's not oil companies. it's the network of global corporate shareholders that own the oil companies. they also own everything else. they are the establishment. so we need to get rid of the establishment.
I think they are trying to kill off independent truckers with fuel costs. While larger outfits will just pass along the cost until the little guys are drummed out. Then they will move in the Mexican Trucker, with his substandard trucks, lax sleep rules & cheap labor.
The Big Union boys at the teamsters will be next. When every thing is in disarray, they will step-in & save us all, with THE North American Union!
Blocking traffic is a safety hazard & is a crime but for some reason, I like it!
Distribution warehouses will be returning to rail way locations that aren't already along a rail way. Smaller, more economical trucks will do the local deliveries. As price increases of resources change the dynamics of doing business, business must change in ways necessary to keep their profits up. This is the model of transport that will have to be adopted to keep profits up.
Trains are already set to take over the trucking industry. If you're a trucker you need to look into what's going on with the railway infrastructure. You're being replaced because the cost of oil is only going to rise. A lot more freight can be pulled with a lot less fuel using trains. Sell your truck while you can and find another type of work.
how will it get to the stores or distrubition centers? 80% of all consumer goods are carried by truckers and when this happens "and it will" what are you going to do when the shelves are empty at the store
These are independent long-haulers that are protesting the fuel prices. They didn't have the foresight to sell their trucks already and find different work. The goods will go by rail to distributer's warehouses, then by smaller, more economical trucks to stores. There will be no more long hauling soon, only local delivery trucking.
I'll believe it when I see it. Hell, even here in the Bay Area, there are vast numbers of ports at disposal AS WELL as the railway line, yet big rigs are still the main method of transportation of goods. However, I do agree that there will end up being an alternative option to big rigs, as some truck drivers I know can barely cover the costs of operation. As gas prices continue to grow, I cannot see many people flocking to this profession in the near future, as it is also being outsourced.
The U.S. government now allows Mexican truckers to cross the border and continue on to a U.S. destination, when before they had to stop at the border and unhook their trailer for an American teamster to take it the rest of the way. American drivers still have to stop at the border and give their trailer to a Mexican driver though. The Federal government is selling out Americans, their next move once the railways are solid out of Mexico, is to have all goods port there and come up by rail.
outsourced to non- U.S Citizens, of course. As far as your comment to there will never be an alternative to trucks, the same was said about horses less than a century ago.
Well I am glad you have a sense of humor, but my point about the horses was that specifically in this century we have seen major technological developments, and that business is always trying to reduce their costs to maximize profits. I agree that alternative fuel will eventually be developed, but I am not going to count out the possibility that new methods of transportation
may come into use to replace trucks, which seem to be inefficient.
I'm not a trucker, but who do you think drives the products from the railway line to the distribution centers? Also, railway lines have been being continually fazed out for the last fifty years, especially in metropolitan areas. On a separate note about the video, its good to see people striking the gas companies, but the price of gas will never go down to what it was, due to more demand overseas as well as our government has 0 power over international corporations. People will need to adjust.
You're correct about the railways having been neglected over the past 50 years or so due to the push to market a car to every person of age. If you look a little closer you'll see a resurgence in railway renewal and top players in the global market place are buying up rail transport companies. There's a change coming soon and it means the end of the 'long-hauler'. There will always be 'local' drivers taking product from the distribution warehouses to shops.
Mission Iraq: To turn the oil production in Iraq down to a trickle
With supply down, thanks to George Bush, oil went from $20 to $120
As favor to Saudis who have grown tired of worthless US money, turned off the Iraqi oil production in order to turn up the price per barrel for the Saudis
There is always the option of Nationalization of such a strategic resource since the private international corporations are obviously more interested in their profits rather than the well-being of their nation and their countrymen.
I hope the truckers just stop their trucks right in the middle of the expressways throughout America. Make the US economy come to a grinding halt. It would not take that many semi-trucks to block all traffic on expressways.
All Americans need to support the truckers. Make this a United Voice that Corporate Washington cannot ignore. "We are mad as hell and not going to take it anymore."
As long as the Federal Reserve keeps lowering the interest rates and pumps fiat money into the economy fuel prices will rise so that OPEC can regain their loses.
Hang the CEO of Exxon from the tallest building on a bungee cord! Then we can start hanging the others every week until the price of gas and oil goes down.
Please hurry up and go on strike! It's inevitable, the gas prices will NOT go down! So just hurry up and get it over with already so Bible prophecy can be fulfilled and this wicked world we live in be DESTROYED!
Doh we have no control over Gas/Oil prices its pretty much mostly based off the Dollar Value. Welcome to a Washington / Federal Reserve that is Printing Money like there is no end in sight! This is only going to get worse over the next few years!
Unfortunately, it's not corrupt oil companies that are causing the peak in prices. They're not "raking us over the coals." We're reaching the peak production of oil. Oil is no longer plentiful enough to fuel our massive and growing economies. We can't pull it out of the ground fast enough to fuel everything.
Not to say oil companies aren't corrupt and terrible, but these truckers are making a mistake. I don't know why Americans haven't been informed about peak oil from the media or the gov.
Totally agree, you only have to go to the OPEC website to see the statistics on oil sales, demand has been going down since 2005. The US dollar is what is pushing it up, its becoming worthless, they need to stop printing it. You can still buy about the same amount of oil as you could 20 years ago if you paid in gold, its not going up in value(only in price) if you compare it to gold or other traditionally stable commodities.
Guess again, Shell's CEO even admits to it. And demand for oil has not decreased, as if that could even be realistically measured.
"Regardless of which route we choose, the world's current predicament limits our maneuvering room. We are experiencing a step-change in the growth rate of energy demand due to population growth and economic development, and Shell estimates that after 2015 supplies of easy-to-access oil and gas will no longer keep up with demand."
Sorry I'm just going by OPECs sales statistics and forecasts. As I said its freely available on their website. Do you really trust shell's CEO to tell you the truth, wake up. Wait until more OPEC states de-peg against the US dollar, and you think its bad now. When you're bankrupt noone is going to accept your cheques. If you don't believe me go to the US Government Accounting Office(GAO) website and look at the US future outlook.
Because Shell's CEO would _clearly_ lie about something _against their interest_ right? That makes sense.
Shell even sent a representative to British Parliament to beg legislators to seek out alternate energy sources. An oil company campaigned against themselves.
American fields peaking production caused a shortage of oil in the seventies which then caused a recession. The same thing is happening now. This is because all commerce is reliant on oil, goods or services. Especially in the US.
Its not against shells interest. its at the top of the food chain so it gets all the benefits and value of newly created currency. If the US currency collapsed it would switch to another currency. Don't worry about shell, they will not be affected much.
As for your 1970's oil recession theory I suggest you go to the library and do some research, you've selected a small contributing part and blown it up as the cause.
So even though oil companies make millions already, they're getting subsidies from the government? That's ridiculous. I feel for the independent truckers who are suffering the most.
Why does this President do something. It is ridiculous that truckers and us have to pay for government stupidity. Higher prices at the pump and at the supermarket. Do something!!!!
Truckers have lived through outright vocational discrimination. Especially in freight they have run the gauntlet of abuse musical doors, lumper madness, pallett exchange hassle,I have had a place tell me that I could not read the paper while I waited for the checker to sign my bills I could not read even in the trailer. Then we have the truckstop clercks that talk to you as if you were an escaped con we are the customer at the very least we should be treated as a consumer I am polite clean shaven.
Trains use diesel engines - lot more powerful, fuel-consuming engines. But you still will need trucks to haul the freight to its final destination. 100% of freight in this country was shipped at some point by truck.
Lets thank the fucking demoCRATS for not allowing more refineries and drilling. Keep voting those democRAT cows into power, stupid communist liberal bastards.
Well they can only really shut down for one day, if they were to shut down for any longer then that the economy would drop like a rock. And then they would be harming the very people they are trying to help. Which is all of us, a one day shut down will have minimal impact to the economy, however a large impact at the white house.
Im talking about the first time around. Just like the same idiots who are voting for McCain.. he will start another war and trash the economy, then you'll see the morons go protest that they dont have any money or jobs because of him.
You moron, truckers is what delivers practicly everything that you have in your home, at your job, that you walk by in the stores, that you sit on at your friends house, that delivered the car you now drive. So shut the hell up. Truckers spend most there life in there rigs away from there familys so fat asses like you can degrade them while sitting in your comfy chair delivered by one of them to the shop you bought it at.
Until there is a alternative they have no choice but to rely on diesell.
Why did you even bother replying? I am aware of the role trucking and truckers play, but so what, who doesn't know these things? Your attitude and response is humorous as it is pathetic.
Society and the economy need a disruption - nothing changes anymore ... most people in this country remain complacent. Bush needs to fully understand that he is causing much hardship in this country ... the louder the noise from the masses, the sooner he will be forced to address us.
The Bankers have done a good job ruining our country with endless, illegal wars and police state laws!! There all in on it!! Every Politician and Media whore!! I hope it's worth your childrens and grandchildrens life, just so you greedy fucks can line your pockets with dirty Money! I FUCKIN HATE YOU!!!!!!!!
I don't understand north-american government. The government took away the largest oil reserve in the world, and, besides it, the fuel prices are still high.
Why is that? Middle Eastern reserves are not enough?
And where were these truckers when Ron Paul was warning people about the dangers of inflation a year ago? Now it's, "We ignored the problems, Government please save us."
Asking them to stop subsidizing oil companies?! Yeah, they should, but... that will increase the price short term.
Why not recognize that half the gas price is state and federal tax? Cut taxes?!?! Then how will Government pay to solve all our problems?!?! The Government IS the problem.
Taxes are not half of gas price, in average they are 42 cents per gallon. That isn't close to half of the price of gas. It goes from 18.4 cents in federal tax and from 8 cents (Alaska) to 35.1 cents (Hawai'i) in state tax. These taxes are use to repair and build roads and bridges. This isn't like the Social Security money that is diverted by the government for other programs. I know Ron Paul's fans hate the government, but without taxes for roads, where are they expecting trucks to drive on?
Okay, true... my tax rate was over stated. No... without taxes roads would come from a more healthy social process. Try thinking about how to do things without guns... eh?
Why do you think that cutting taxes is the panacea for all our problems? Taxes in the Philippines are very low. In fact, taxes in China and India are among the lowest in the world. Do you want the US to look like those countries? South Korea, first in int'l math and science testing, has the same taxation level as this country. Japan and most European countries have tax systems that are more burdensome, but things seem to work better than here. Do you really think taxes are the only problem?
Taxes=big problem.Read the founding fathers quotes on taxes. The federal reserve is selling out America through the Rothchilds in Europe.Every day we pay the Feds for money they create out of thin air. The dollar was strong when it was backed by gold, now it's just a fiat piece of paper.
You can't look at just the tax rate and decide that that sole thing is the driving force of success. You must look at the whole picture.Search aaron russo and rockafeller.
Not, my question, but I have an answer. Who has cut more taxes than everyone else reducing the tax burden of corporations to the lowest in half a century? Who has cut taxes for the wealthiest 2%? I tell, Mr. George W. Bush, President of the United States. What have his tax cut policies done for this country and you? Unless you are in the 2%, I guess not much. Of course, some people have no trust in their fellow human beings, so they will always see the negative aspect of anything.
Yep, if god didn't want people to use oil, then why did she put it, though underground, reachable to us, humans? The problem is that she put it in the wrong location. She missed by thousands of kilometers. Or, perhaps, she wanted us to have that land as well. That's our Manifest Destiny, to rule from hemisphere to hemisphere, from the east of the Greenwich Prime Meridian to the west of it.
I guess, you know her personally. She isn't the little shit you terrorists call alleh or something like that. She is the real deal. She didn't write about killing people or war, that was your little shit, Allah, yes that's that little pig's name. Now I remember. Pig Allah, the biggest shit in the desert.
Well, I solve the problem of your imaginary tooth fairy. Now, you can worship shit. Wait, that's what you have been doing. Seriously, why are people so gullible? Do they always need to believe in something?
In reality, if you added in all of the 'hidden' costs of bringing gas to our market, it'd be around $9/gal. We spend about a half trillion $ each year protecting the supply routes/sources in the mid east. I think a better solution for America is to wean ourselves off gas/fossil fuel. It's never going to get cheaper. There are alternatives. If we raised the fuel efficiency standards just 4 mpg/vehicle, we could eliminate the need to import fuel from the mid-east. Raise it 4 mpg more & no imports.
Very true. While much of the rest of the developed world is reliant on rail for freight, the US is nearly completely reliant on trucks. This is mostly due to historically low oil prices, the development of highways, and the high cost of new rail development.
I feel sorry for them but I hope they don't give them preferential treatment at my expense like they do for the steel industry and farms and airlines and so many others.
xen0gen2600-yes, but not giving the oil industry tax brakes is not going to help the truckers so I'm sure they want some kind of hand out or tax brake for themselves
TabooRealities-i believe that every one should pay the same rate regardless of what industry. So tax breaks are ok but only if they apply to everyone and more importantly they are accompanied by spending cuts
If we went back to the tax rates in effect during WWII, I think it was 95% for all income/earnings/etc over $100,000, then the dollar wouldn't be in such a mess right now. The falling dollar is the main cause for fuel inflation. Bush has almost doubled the national debt in the 7 yrs he's been pres. You just can't do that shit & think everything is going to be hunky-dory. But, to think these bastards don't know what they're doing in wrong. They're TRYING to crush the middle-class of this country.
fattkidd-I agree with all but the first sentence. Just because one person has something, doesn't mean that someone else does not. The money that people have is investment in banks, that you can barrow to buy a house or start a business. The problem is that the government thinks that's not enough so are constantly printing more to create the illusion that the economy is better off
Possible privatization of state oil co. could end up hurting Mexican economy
FattKidd says:
"For a gov't, any gov't, or any gov't official to consider privatizing its oil industry at a time when oil is going for $120/brrl, & quite possibly could see $200/brrl before the end of the year, is nothing less than treasonous. I would be shocked to see the Mexican people allow this to happen. I predict we'd see civil war in Mexico before we see the privatiziation of PEMEX."
amen to that. but you know, the government thugs aka "drug cartels" are ensiting violence and thus got the military involved. so when the day comes that the puto aka felipe calderon tries to sell pemex, the people will have a really hard time going rebel because of the military presence. you dig?
It's unfortunate that the US 'War on Drugs' has actually created drug cartels that rival small armies. Legalize or decriminalize & you'd see these cartels disappear. It's the profit that enables them to arm themselves to the hilt. That said, even tho fuel in Mex may be high right now, just wait & see where the price goes if a private corporation is allowed to own/control it. Therefore, if the Mexican people don't act now, they'll end up doing so later.
hell yeah man. people in mexico are fucking making it by as it is. if you take away pemex is like taking away the mexican flag man. thats the only treasure mexico has left. if you take that away, believe me, there will be a revolution by the next morning!
I just came from mexico last weekk and the tour guides were telling me that they are actually paying the same average gas prices as we are since pemex is government owned.
well they wouldn't have to. but because those corrupt fucks take all the money. pemex lacks the funds to restore and build refineries and such. so that drives the gas prices up. see its like this. for example lets say that i sell oranges right. why would i have to go buy orange juice if i sell oranges? pemex is like that, they don't invest in the infrastructure of pemex so mexico has to impor gasoline from other countries. which is done deliberately to keep mexico and mexicans poor.
I think those truckers should just march into Congress, grab all of the Congressmen, Senators, Bush Admin people, bureaucrats & lobbyists they can, toss them into the backs of their trucks, & go dump them in a river somewhere!
If there was a nation wide shutdown of big rigs we would be totally fucked!!!!!!! Imagine what food stores would look like. A scene like WalMart on Black Friday, before the holidays!!!!!!

Not to say oil companies aren't corrupt and terrible, but these truckers are making a mistake. I don't know why Americans haven't been informed about peak oil from the media or the gov.

"We're reaching the peak production of oil."
Hogwash. Get better info.
eversincealways 3 years ago
Totally agree, you only have to go to the OPEC website to see the statistics on oil sales, demand has been going down since 2005. The US dollar is what is pushing it up, its becoming worthless, they need to stop printing it. You can still buy about the same amount of oil as you could 20 years ago if you paid in gold, its not going up in value(only in price) if you compare it to gold or other traditionally stable commodities.
rsnic 3 years ago
Guess again, Shell's CEO even admits to it. And demand for oil has not decreased, as if that could even be realistically measured.
"Regardless of which route we choose, the world's current predicament limits our maneuvering room. We are experiencing a step-change in the growth rate of energy demand due to population growth and economic development, and Shell estimates that after 2015 supplies of easy-to-access oil and gas will no longer keep up with demand."
Ignore traditional econ, use logic.
skullz291 3 years ago
Sorry I'm just going by OPECs sales statistics and forecasts. As I said its freely available on their website. Do you really trust shell's CEO to tell you the truth, wake up. Wait until more OPEC states de-peg against the US dollar, and you think its bad now. When you're bankrupt noone is going to accept your cheques. If you don't believe me go to the US Government Accounting Office(GAO) website and look at the US future outlook.
rsnic 3 years ago
Because Shell's CEO would _clearly_ lie about something _against their interest_ right? That makes sense.
Shell even sent a representative to British Parliament to beg legislators to seek out alternate energy sources. An oil company campaigned against themselves.
American fields peaking production caused a shortage of oil in the seventies which then caused a recession. The same thing is happening now. This is because all commerce is reliant on oil, goods or services. Especially in the US.
skullz291 3 years ago
Its not against shells interest. its at the top of the food chain so it gets all the benefits and value of newly created currency. If the US currency collapsed it would switch to another currency. Don't worry about shell, they will not be affected much.
As for your 1970's oil recession theory I suggest you go to the library and do some research, you've selected a small contributing part and blown it up as the cause.
rsnic 3 years ago 2
So even though oil companies make millions already, they're getting subsidies from the government? That's ridiculous. I feel for the independent truckers who are suffering the most.
Nihil2005 3 years ago
Even if the truckers had free gas, that would only be a quick fix.
If we want to keep transporting goods past peak oil we need to upgrade our rail networks.
terryphi 3 years ago
Why does this President do something. It is ridiculous that truckers and us have to pay for government stupidity. Higher prices at the pump and at the supermarket. Do something!!!!

Truckers have lived through outright vocational discrimination. Especially in freight they have run the gauntlet of abuse musical doors, lumper madness, pallett exchange hassle,I have had a place tell me that I could not read the paper while I waited for the checker to sign my bills I could not read even in the trailer. Then we have the truckstop clercks that talk to you as if you were an escaped con we are the customer at the very least we should be treated as a consumer I am polite clean shaven.

what about the US railway system, it seems like it's underused. Trains are still the most efficient way to transport goods, why dont we build more?
HollisQueens 3 years ago
Trains use diesel engines - lot more powerful, fuel-consuming engines. But you still will need trucks to haul the freight to its final destination. 100% of freight in this country was shipped at some point by truck.

Would be wonderful if they'd completely shutdown until something is done about the current prices!
mfyyre 3 years ago 4
Well they can only really shut down for one day, if they were to shut down for any longer then that the economy would drop like a rock. And then they would be harming the very people they are trying to help. Which is all of us, a one day shut down will have minimal impact to the economy, however a large impact at the white house.

Until there is a alternative they have no choice but to rely on diesell.

ghostsyouseeisee,
Why did you even bother replying? I am aware of the role trucking and truckers play, but so what, who doesn't know these things? Your attitude and response is humorous as it is pathetic.
Society and the economy need a disruption - nothing changes anymore ... most people in this country remain complacent. Bush needs to fully understand that he is causing much hardship in this country ... the louder the noise from the masses, the sooner he will be forced to address us.

TabooRealities 3 years ago
Taxes are not half of gas price, in average they are 42 cents per gallon. That isn't close to half of the price of gas. It goes from 18.4 cents in federal tax and from 8 cents (Alaska) to 35.1 cents (Hawai'i) in state tax. These taxes are use to repair and build roads and bridges. This isn't like the Social Security money that is diverted by the government for other programs. I know Ron Paul's fans hate the government, but without taxes for roads, where are they expecting trucks to drive on?
flyingbird0214 3 years ago
Okay, true... my tax rate was over stated. No... without taxes roads would come from a more healthy social process. Try thinking about how to do things without guns... eh?
TabooRealities 3 years ago
Why do you think that cutting taxes is the panacea for all our problems? Taxes in the Philippines are very low. In fact, taxes in China and India are among the lowest in the world. Do you want the US to look like those countries? South Korea, first in int'l math and science testing, has the same taxation level as this country. Japan and most European countries have tax systems that are more burdensome, but things seem to work better than here. Do you really think taxes are the only problem?
Obama4ever 3 years ago 3
Taxes=big problem.Read the founding fathers quotes on taxes. The federal reserve is selling out America through the Rothchilds in Europe.Every day we pay the Feds for money they create out of thin air. The dollar was strong when it was backed by gold, now it's just a fiat piece of paper.
You can't look at just the tax rate and decide that that sole thing is the driving force of success. You must look at the whole picture.Search aaron russo and rockafeller.

What can I say to all that? I guess, people have strong beliefs that will not change, no matter what.

TabooRealities 3 years ago
Not, my question, but I have an answer. Who has cut more taxes than everyone else reducing the tax burden of corporations to the lowest in half a century? Who has cut taxes for the wealthiest 2%? I tell, Mr. George W. Bush, President of the United States. What have his tax cut policies done for this country and you? Unless you are in the 2%, I guess not much. Of course, some people have no trust in their fellow human beings, so they will always see the negative aspect of anything.

Cheap gas is our fundamental human right!
mejirodude 3 years ago 4
Yep, if god didn't want people to use oil, then why did she put it, though underground, reachable to us, humans? The problem is that she put it in the wrong location. She missed by thousands of kilometers. Or, perhaps, she wanted us to have that land as well. That's our Manifest Destiny, to rule from hemisphere to hemisphere, from the east of the Greenwich Prime Meridian to the west of it.

flyingbird0214 3 years ago
In reality, if you added in all of the 'hidden' costs of bringing gas to our market, it'd be around $9/gal. We spend about a half trillion $ each year protecting the supply routes/sources in the mid east. I think a better solution for America is to wean ourselves off gas/fossil fuel. It's never going to get cheaper. There are alternatives. If we raised the fuel efficiency standards just 4 mpg/vehicle, we could eliminate the need to import fuel from the mid-east. Raise it 4 mpg more & no imports.
FattKidd 3 years ago 2
Without trucks, AMERICA STOPS.
Darganot 3 years ago
Very true. While much of the rest of the developed world is reliant on rail for freight, the US is nearly completely reliant on trucks. This is mostly due to historically low oil prices, the development of highways, and the high cost of new rail development.

I feel sorry for them but I hope they don't give them preferential treatment at my expense like they do for the steel industry and farms and airlines and so many others.
libertyerian 3 years ago 2
That's exactly the point. The truckers are protesting congress' preferential treatment of the Oil Industry.
xen0gen2600 3 years ago
xen0gen2600-yes, but not giving the oil industry tax brakes is not going to help the truckers so I'm sure they want some kind of hand out or tax brake for themselves
libertyerian 3 years ago
What is wrong with tax breaks?
TabooRealities 3 years ago
TabooRealities-i believe that every one should pay the same rate regardless of what industry. So tax breaks are ok but only if they apply to everyone and more importantly they are accompanied by spending cuts
libertyerian 3 years ago
what is the benefit to the country for giveing tax breaks to the richest 2% of the country? Why should the other 98 carry their end while they gouge?
dexterriley 3 years ago 4
If we went back to the tax rates in effect during WWII, I think it was 95% for all income/earnings/etc over $100,000, then the dollar wouldn't be in such a mess right now. The falling dollar is the main cause for fuel inflation. Bush has almost doubled the national debt in the 7 yrs he's been pres. You just can't do that shit & think everything is going to be hunky-dory. But, to think these bastards don't know what they're doing in wrong. They're TRYING to crush the middle-class of this country.
FattKidd 3 years ago
fattkidd-I agree with all but the first sentence.

I predict we'd see civil war in Mexico before we see the privatiziation of PEMEX."
ikekll 3 years ago 2
amen to that. but you know, the government thugs aka "drug cartels" are ensiting violence and thus got the military involved. so when the day comes that the puto aka felipe calderon tries to sell pemex, the people will have a really hard time going rebel because of the military presence. you dig?
cocodapitbull 3 years ago
It's unfortunate that the US 'War on Drugs' has actually created drug cartels that rival small armies. Legalize or decriminalize & you'd see these cartels disappear. It's the profit that enables them to arm themselves to the hilt. That said, even tho fuel in Mex may be high right now, just wait & see where the price goes if a private corporation is allowed to own/control it. Therefore, if the Mexican people don't act now, they'll end up doing so later.
FattKidd 3 years ago
hell yeah man. people in mexico are fucking making it by as it is. if you take away pemex is like taking away the mexican flag man. thats the only treasure mexico has left. if you take that away, believe me, there will be a revolution by the next morning!

Is fuel cheaper in Mexico having PEMEX?
saintfletcher 3 years ago
I just came from mexico last weekk and the tour guides were telling me that they are actually paying the same average gas prices as we are since pemex is government owned.
blackinya 3 years ago
well they wouldn't have to. but because those corrupt fucks take all the money. pemex lacks the funds to restore and build refineries and such. so that drives the gas prices up. see its like this. for example lets say that i sell oranges right. why would i have to go buy orange juice if i sell oranges? pemex is like that, they don't invest in the infrastructure of pemex so mexico has to impor gasoline from other countries. which is done deliberately to keep mexico and mexicans poor.
cocodapitbull 3 years ago
Some say Mexico´s gouverment don´t invest in Pemex so that eventually Pemex go broke, after that they can sell it to multinationals.
