This sounds more like thinly disguised religious fundamentalism than it does true spiritual wisdom. Fear, suffering and pain because of orgasm? And probably also hair on our palms! Why do some spiritual people always look for another way to suffer? Going through life without sex *is* suffering. God has given us so many beautiful things and experiences to enjoy in this world, and people are shoving them back in His Face saying "No thank you . . . I am a spiritual person."

For example, Sri Swami Sivananda says "All the spiritual leaders have been true celibates." I thorougly disagree. The primary biological function of sex is procreation – to initiate the growth of a new physical body in which a soul may incarnate. French author Honoré de Balzac, after a night of passion, would lament: 'There goes another novel!'
@Gargeniture I think that the key to Eden is not repression of sexual energy but the consciousness of how to harness and use it... IE Tantra...Bringing the sexual energy up the chakras to the crown...Immortality, enlightenment.. It's so funny how people in the west have such a hard time understanding this! I guess immediate gratification is all most people care about.
