My personal favorite version of Rock Me Baby is the one mr. King released as 45 on Kent in 1965 - slower, way more 'edgy', snapping at you and brilliantly arranged and produced (in mono). Still, this much later version is also brilliant. Was there really ever a time he performed this tune badly? I have to admit that I'm also amazed at watching and hearing Hendrix' speedy live version from the late sixties, but that's kind of another deal, right?
