Just saw Flaco close out the 27th Annual Tejano Conjunto Fest en San Antonio Saturday. He was in prime form and THE Max Baca was on bajo sexto. Hohner Accordions, celebrating their 150th birthday, gave a limited edition accordion to Flaco and then he played the hell out of it for the rest of the set.

It was my first visit to that fest in 13 years. I look forward to next year.

The Jimenez family (Santiago Sr, Santiago Jr and Flaco) are to conjunto like what the Marsalis Family is to jazz....all uniquely gifted and talented, though still in the tradition and taking it in new directions.
