Guy's... a bit of advice please... I want a small Mini Laptop for College this year to use every day. But i don't know whether to get this but with a 20Gb SSD or do i get the base model ACER ASPIRE ONE. Thanks for your help... Ryan xxx
Go with the Asus Eee 900 w/20Gb SSD (avoid the 16GB, it is very slow). Get your 900, invest $35 for a 2GB RAM stick, and then another $50 or so for a 10,400Mah extra battery - and Vola! You will have a premium little computer.
Stick a 128mb SSD in it next year when they become affordable, and maybe a bigger RAM stick also when they come out.
Otherwise, an external 120Gb USB HDD is also a good idea to carry around lots of extra data.
I meant the humour. For example the tongue in cheek strategy for getting your IT department to buy you an Asus eee because it costs less than 25% of an upscale Lenovo Thinkpad.
do what i am doing a 701 4g surf from ebay for 250ish and a 16gb sdhc for another 80 then you get to charge it the small simple charger and if you really want i have seen hacks to get the bigger (900) screen into the smaller (701) body
For $549 you can get an EEE with 20GB HD. For $499 you can get a 2133 with 4GB HD. Of those two EEE has faster CPU, twice the RAM and 5x the HD-space. 2133 has more professional appearance, better keyboard and better screen. It's not so clear-cut between the two
the price isn't the same when you add wifi, extra ram, webcam and XP O/S to the HP 2133. I don't believe running Vista on a mini notebook is efficient.
Nicely done, im interested in getting a asus eee pc 900. However you can't afford one if you just brought a top notch gaming pc thats on the market. Im in dept for buying it too. Owe my parents 2 grand still. However I'll try and nag my parents too get one hopefully within the month.
damn you suck :P another reason why its expensive is you cant get a windows xp installed asus eee pc 900. You will need to buy a external cd drive which cost heaps... I just one want too maintain my storage etc
LOL at those in debt because of gaming PC. Learn to built your own. I have a Intel quad with 8 gigs of ram and a HIS IceQ 512MB videocard, all for 700 bucks!!!
You finance an intel Q6600, 4GB of DDR3, 1 Terabyte of HDD, Vista Home Premium (32 bit), a Sounblaster X-Fi Xtreme Gamer, a 22inch Widescreen monitor, a Thermaltake VA8000SWA, an Asus P5E3 AND an ATI Radeon HD 3870 x2 1GB with $700...
how about its performance running skype (using built in camera) ????
does it run smooth or are there any issues (celeron 900MHz instead of atom 1,6GHz) ????

i want the EEE 900, but the problem is for the price they ask, you can get a full-featured laptop for just a bit more. they should drop the price.

yea, but to get the 900's screen i would first need a 900, eliminating the need to buy a 700, lol.
tipoomaster 3 years ago
or ebay, plus the 700 can be a touch screen

Why not with a touchscreen?!?!
