  • The top three are still my favorites. Sesame Street should really watch these classic clips and try and get back here. This was good television. :)

  • @menotyou87 They won't. PC has taken over children's television.

  • It's sad that public television is in it's death throws.

  • Damn....I miss this soooo much....aging and flippin life....The entire original cast should be made HERO'S......

  • I miss Sesame Street! I used to watch this show after school.

  • RIP David and Olivia. and thank you.

  • @wolfenklaue Olivia passed away?? Some details please!!

  • the kid on his lap at sing a song looks like he 's not enjoying himself! haha

  • Woah. This is before my time.

But its nice to see where it began.

All of Sesame Street was awesome until that damn Elmo threw it down the drain.

  • Sing was the first song that inspired me -- "don't worry if it's not good enough for anyone else to hear" just struck me, even then, as something everyone needed to be told. We all worry so much about what people think of us. Whew, still gives me chills.

  • :*D

  • Any coincidence that all of these songs feature the human cast and NO puppets performing with them? Hey, SS of today, take the hint!

  • wow, I just cried...

  • Where's Maria?

  • this song use to make me cry for some reason

  • Omg, I just could'nt resist, so here goes.........(clears throat), Sesame Street was brought to you tonight by the letter E (for an emmy win) and the Number 40. Happy 40 Years Sesame Street, And Best Wishes Too.

  • sing was sesame streets most popular song ever

  • Who is the black guy? Never saw him.

  • His name's David, played by Northern Calloway. He was part of Sesame Street during the 70s and to a lesser extent during the 80s. The character left in 1989, and the actor died in 1990.

  • @balana84 Thank you I knew I knew who it was! He was in Follow that bird too right?

  • Are you kidding!? That was David!!! He took over Mr. Hopper's Store are he died.... an then David died... :(

  • Wow, I didn't know Sing was as old as that!

  • Oh yeah, Sing was right there from the beginning. In fact, it was going to be the show's intro.

  • I'da put "one of these things doesn't belong" as number 4

  • check out the sideburns,Must be the early 70s.

  • Oh yes. Circa 1972 I believe, just when David, Luis and Maria joined the cast.

  • "sing a song" song. classi song

  • I love the "sing a song" song. It always made me happy and I loved to sing along to it.
