@deflodjeb Yah I used "effects" loosely to refer to his Kaoss Pads, Ableton etc. Even still, what is available to him in terms of sounds is extremely limited, most of it all comes from processing his own voice, which I think is incredible.

As far as I can tell, he uses the Kaos pads for the loop processing and effect modulation and the Ableton to lay out the "slots that he spits each sound into"?? but yea....his whole show/concept/everything is INCREDIBLE! @andrewwowk One should be careful not to overromanticize things: whether you control a synth through inputting a voice sample or pressing a key, it's still a synth. He's very creative and I think what he does is great, but he's not going on stage with emptier hands than, say, an electro band. Although the fact that he operates alone does give him tremendous opportunities for improvisation, which he uses to great effect.

The main difference is he needs no records :) In the grand scheme of things, $5000 (USD/CAD) or £3000 is peanuts for audio professionals. Just my home setup as a hobbyist producer/DJ is worth at least that much, not counting the computers. People aren't running around making commercial-quality music on dollar-store mics and MP3 recorders...

What I meant was that this guy limits his sound palette to his vocal chords and uses machinery creatively to manipulate that palette and come up with far more interesting, unique music than people who buy shitloads of VSTs, gear etc and have practically every single synth sound and drum sample available to them and still make the same boring rubbish.
